F-492 Piper VTOL (Mobile)
Skill Level: High
After work on the XF-492 concept, the GyrFalken/Kestrel project, the Piper was intended to be a multi-role carrier based stealth VTOL. At this point I've basically tuned the platform enough where I'm comfotable releasing the final project. It gets its name from it's long nose, and naval background. The idea behind this plane was ideal balance for air to air combat, and air to ground capability. The missle bays deploy out the side so weight distribution is always centered. The plane is really flat, and long making for a very stable platform. Coupled with a trapazoidal wing configuration, the final project was a VTOL aircraft that could chase down opponents in a dogfight. This plane excells at canyon crawling, and flying in very small spaces.
Tips and Flight Instructions
Unlike my previous designs, this plane uses multiple small engines. As you activate Group 2 and ascend, and activate Group 4 for stabiliy, at altitude you activate group 1 which is the main flight engine. With this plane full power is all four engines, so you will need to push VTOL setting up which will take the plane out of VTOL mode. With VTOL landing mode, you want to set the VTOL settings back to neutral and pull back, Disable Group 1 and reengage Group 4 which is the Gyros, at this point you can land it like any other VTOL aircraft.
Controls
