RCP Engineering D-01-200 Blue Point
My Entry for RepublicOfCursedPlanes D-01 Livery Challenge
Fictional History
some of this lore is going to be a bit confusing as Blu Point comes from my Fictional world, yet this D-01-200 comes from another fictional world that also kind of exists in the real world I guess??? Whatever, just imagine this as a alternate reality I guess.
Short Blu Point History
Blue Point Airlines (later known as Blu Point) Is an Acrean Airliner that started in 1958.
being an early airline helped Blue Point grow its Airline and in the modern age Blu Point is Acrea's biggest airliner. Blu Point prides its self in its great service and relatively affordable prices for its flights.
Blu Points history with the D-01-200
In the 1970s Blue Point had begun looking for ways to expand the airline and had begun looking into regional airlines, believing that they could find a suitable market there. Blue Point hadn't put this plan into effect until the late 1980s as the 737 classic fit the needs of this new regional airline. Despite having similar names and similar liveries, Blue Point regional was a completely new airline owned by Blue Point Airlines. While Blue Point Airlines operated on a Hub-and-spoke model, Blue Point regional operated on a point-to-point model as flying from islands to shore states was easier for this regional airline.
Blue Point Regionals first year was pretty tough as the 737s were only able to land at airports that were well maintained and suitable for bigger planes. Blue Points wishes were answered a year later when RCP Engineering's first D-01-200 rolled off the assembly line. These new jets were rugged, flexible, and most importantly could land on unprepared or poorly maintained landing strips. These D-01s were exactly what Blue Point Regional needed! at first Blue Point purchased only 10 D-01-200s but 3 years later put down another purchase of 60 more. only after being able to use these aircraft did Blue Point Regional become a popular tourist airline. Knowing that most of there costumers flew regional to visit popular tourist islands, Blue Point Regional steered hard into the tourist side of the the market. although most of Blue Point Regionals flights went to Islands close to Acrea, they also had a flight to Wright Island. Being the farthest flight the airline had it was also the most popular in the airlines life time.
Disaster strikes the D-01-200
On Friday, September 25, 1998 disaster strikes. During a routine Flight, LTU D-01-200 registration D-ABDR broke into 4 sections 39000 feet above the air and crashed into the Mediterranean sea. The Accident shocked the world and had left many speculating what the cause of such a horrific accident could have been. was it Pilot error or the planes fault? was it terrorism? nobody new the answer, and the uncertainty of the crash caused the general public to fear flying in the D-01-200 for a while. 2 days after the terrible crash the D-01-200 was grounded. until the cause of the crash was found no D-01-200s would be airworthy. This grounding had severely affected Blue Point Regional which was mainly a D-01-200 carrier. 2 years later during 2000 both the RCTSB and BFU had released its final report on the incident and lifted the grounding. The cause of the crash was do to poor maintenance. after D-ABDR received a scratch on its tail instead of fixing it according to the maintenance manual he had just strengthened the damaged part. although Blue Point Regional was finally able to fly its fleet of D-01-200s, losing more then half of its fleet had left Blue Point Regional in a financial trouble. After the Economic Recession in 2007 Blue Point Airlines had chosen to sell off Blue Point Regional and all of its aircraft for half the price. As the airline had brought Blue Point Airlines only financial trouble after the groundings in 1998.
A New Blu
After the recession had passed Blue Point airlines had chosen to "re-invent" it self. Giving all of its aircraft new liveries and re-naming its self to Blu Point. Although this was mostly a marketing tactic to bring new interest in the old airline. While Blu Point had Spent Millions on this new Ad Campaign it had worked and the "New Blu" reignited the company.
In 2017 Blu Point released a image on there social media which had surprised many. it seemed that Blu Point was bringing back their Regional services. The new Blu Point Connect is the successor of Blue Point Regional and brought back many famous flights during the golden years of the old airline.

Extra Stuff
Although this challenge didn't really take me to long, collage, life, and procrastination really didn't help. as you can tell I'm posting this on the last day of the challenge, so at least I was able to get it done. The hardest part was definitely the tail decal (a map pin in a circle, if it wasn't obvious). making a circle that also conformed with the shape of the vertical tail was a pain, but it looks really good so it was worth it. Thanks to FeiGe3 for letting me mention a bit of his lore, his livery is pretty good as well. Also he totally gave me the idea to make posters and pamphlets.
I hope you enjoy my challenge entry, and good luck to all the other contestants! Have a safe flight!
Post Challenge stuff
LETS GOOOO!!!!!! Somehow I got first place on my first challenge ever. Needless to say I am very proud of my self.
I hope that everyone else who entered a livery had fun with their creations!

@DatRoadTrainGuy19 the funny ski mask people with pipe thingy that goes boom: uhh
Oh Boy! I Surely Hope That There Are No Funny Ski Mask People Inside The Aircraft With Their Pipe Thingy That Goes Boom Boom!
@Yourlocalhuman Considering how safe the airline business is today, I was kinda expecting safety to be a given 💀
Safety isnt one of the gurantees of Blu point
Looks supreme. The looks, just breathtaking.
@PriusCat Okay, and I think the airplane painting you made is really great. The delicacy of the airplane painting, the detail of the lore, and the attentiveness of the poster are definitely top-notch works, and it's worth investing an Upvote in your work 👍
@FeiGe3 oh whoops, I probably overlooked that detail because I was in such a rush to publish this. I’ll make sure to fix it when I got the time. If there is anything else you’d think I should fix or change please let me know.
@PriusCat I want to tell you something,The final report of LTU 807 was not released by NTSB, but by RCTSB of Republic Of CrusedPlanes and BFU of Germany.I have already mentioned in my introduction that these two institutions are responsible for investigating the LTU 807 Mediterranean air disaster, but I have written a sentence in the parentheses behind it after RCTSB: based on the imitation of NTSB.
@RepublicOfCursedPlanes Thank you! I was so stressed I might have posted this too late. I can sleep well tonight.
Still Approved (because I haven’t released results)
Score: 15/15
Even though the livery is fairly simple, I really like how you managed to achieve the logo on the tail, so congrats!
The lore is really detailed, and the posters greatly compliment it.
So with these, you’ve become one of the highest scorers here, good job!
(Adding to lore: upon the launch of the new Blu Point Connect, the airline ordered 20 D-01a-2s, the Advanced variant of the D-01-200. This made it the largest and second operator of the type, ahead of ISA.)
I noticed that the challenge is closed but for context I published this at 9:32 mountain time on the 15th. I hope this makes it into the challenge.
@RepublicOfCursedPlanes Sorry I took so long to publish this, I hope I'm not too late. here is my challenge entry!
