Description

The MPA-2B Cavalier is a twin-engined maritime patrol aircraft developed from the Xebec long-range business jet for the Halucian Air Force. The Cavalier is equipped with a number of advanced sensors such as a MAD boom and IR targeting system and can employ modern weaponry such as the Mark 54 lightweight torpedo and the HSMM anti-ship missile. Sonobuoys can be deployed from a number of hatches.

The aircraft has a range of 2,400 kilometres and a crew of nine. This allows the aircraft to conduct long patrols over the Pacific Ocean, supporting naval forces and guarding against submarine attack. The rear fuselage is filled with extra fuel tanks, increasing range. The Cavalier can serve as an aerial refuelling tanker if needed, with the ability to mount two drogue pods on external hardpoints. The forward fuselage is filled with crew stations and rest areas, with the bomb bay positioned directly below.
A modern countermeasures system automatically dispenses flares to counter guided missiles and can jam radar at a range of twenty nautical miles. The system also allows the crew to intercept radio messages and jam communications. The aircraft is also equipped with an AESA radar system, with a detection range of 200 nautical miles against destroyer-sized warships.
The MPA-2B has a flight deck crew of three, with two pilots and a flight engineer. The rest of the crew is dedicated to electronic warfare and anti-submarine operations. Standard operations, including weapons delivery, takes place from 30,000 feet, although the Cavalier is capable of long-duration flight at altitudes as low as 100 feet to use its MAD boom.
