Experimental Seaplane - Picccolo S.P.A. (Fio's Jet)

Source:
This plane appears on screen for about three seconds at the very end of Miyazaki's "Porco Rosso." So, naturally, I had to build it. I mean, look at my PFP!

Lore:
This experimental jet-powered flying boat was a one-off, designed and built as a test platform for Piccolo S.P.A. in the decade following WWII. It was flown primarily by Fio Piccolo, the company's lead aeronautical engineer, who used it for joyriding and private transport.
With impressive (for a seaplane) STOL performance, it was designed to operate in and around the many small islands that dot the Adriatic. A top speed in excess of 200 knots and a stall speed (with flaps fully extended) below 50 knots mean that short- and medium-haul flights can be safely attempted even when the landing area is unknown.

Operation:
No real flight instructions - all controls are standard, take it easy on the throttle on takeoff if you want. She cruises well at around 70% throttle. Everything else you can figure out by messing around in the cockpit - everything is labeled, and defaults to ON. Have fun!

Other ramblings:
I've had a version of this build for ages; it's the one I use when I want to go establish a new water takeoff point, or just have fun flying around. It's reasonably fast and very nimble at higher speeds, but capable of stable flight at around 50 knots at 10% throttle with full flaps and trim.
I designed it to work as a fully simple plane (no need use any Activation Groups for flight), but a bunch of features can be adjusted or disabled from the cockpit in VR. Basically, everything defaults to ON. My coding skills are still pretty rudimentary, but this is my best effort yet and I'm proud of how it turned out - overspeed warnings, inverted activation groups, functioning flaps and slats, etc. I hope you like it!

I chuckle every time she goes "Yeah there were some wars since then, no biggy" Talking about the late 1930s 1940s, while in Italy. Yeah no biggy...

@Sockdragger I'm glad you like it, and I like the idea of upgrading to a slightly larger amphibious version with room for passenger(s)... Maybe this is the plane that I finally build custom gear for.

Eagerly awaiting an amphibian and a 2/3 person version. I mean it61950's and it's Italian. Why would you buy such a plane if not to take your special someone to a picknick on a remote island?

Waauw, I love it. The details in the cockpit, the overall 1950's look.... Plus, it flies surprisingly well. The only thing I would have wished for would be some flight instructions or a little manual in the description above. It took me several attempts to find out how to operate the flaps and the pontons, and I only found out about the air brakes on my fourth or fifth landing.
