Hello everyone, Supercraft888 again. I want to start off by saying thank you to the SimplePlanes community for everything. For all the support, fun and memorable times I have had here. This is truly one of the greatest places on the internet, where amazingly brilliant and creative people can share each other's ideas, and I am glad that I can be part of this community. As a way of returning the favor, I have released a plane that I have withheld for a long, LONG time. Originally this plane was meant to be released when I reached platinum, but it wasn't ready at the time, so I waited for the right moment. And that's where we are today, this is my gift back to the SP community for being an amazing place. Once again, thank you, each and every one of you for being on this journey with me, weather it was from the very beginning, or just now I hope this place will be a safe haven and beacon for wonderful and amazing ideas.

The EFX-083 is an Epochxian built all purpose starfighter capable of completing a wide range of missions in both exosphere and atmospheric conditions. The Pegasus first flew in July 27 2162 and entered service in January 9 2163 following many tests and experiments. It is amoungst the most successful starfighter designs during the War of 2167 renowned for it's high victory rating even against the most overwhelming of odds, only being outmatched by it's successor the EFX-084 Wyvern.

Development

The design for the EFX-083 started when the Epochxian United Government learned of a war brewing between the GRA and the USF. In order to properly defend themselves against the two, should either of them attack, the Epocxhian armed forces needed a multirole starfighter and fast, since they lacked any sort of dedicated fighter aircrafts, or military aircraft for that matter, since most threats were mostly wildlife. This lead to a massive boom in military projects and weaponry in Epochx, with the EFX-083 series of aircraft at the forefront.

Development started on February 2 2161. The aircraft needed to have a focus on maneuverability, lethality, and defense. After many trials the prototype first flew on July 27 2162 as the TFX-08 Chariot. The design was reviewed and tested multiple times before it was eventually chosen to be the backbone of the Epochxian Armed forces and the newly founded Epochxian Navy.

Design

The EFX-083 was a unique starfighter in that it's weaponry made it more comparable to a larger starship such as a gunboat or even a corvette. This meant it was much more lethal in comparison to other starfighters.

The guns on the Pegasus are two neutron ion blasters and a single nova wave cannon, both of which are weapons often found on starships as CIWS or secondary weapons.

The neutron ion blasters were fitted in large nacelles in each wing. The nova wave cannon is mounted under the belly of the aircraft and fired an energy blast with a yield of an estimated 750 pounds of TNT. The nova wave cannon could also be overcharged to fire a slower but extremely potent and deadly nova helix energy blast with an estimated energy yield of around 1.5 kilotons of TNT, however it required a lock on to actually fire as a safety precaution to prevent pilots from over heating the gun and destabilizing the deatrium power core inside the aircraft.

In addition to it's guns, the missiles used by the Pegasus were specially designed for it as well, these missiles had to be all aspect, hypersonic, and have a blast yield of at least 250 pounds of TNT.

The defensive and starfairing systems on the Pegasus were all revolutionary at it's introduction, as most starfighters at the time couldn't handle this much equipment. The EFX-083 had the capability to link to a type 7 AI, a triple layer energy shield, and was the first human starfighter ever to equip a warpdrive. It also had a nano repair system capable of repairing large amounts of damage to the aircraft during battles. For atmospheric engagements the Pegasus had chaff and flare launchers to break a missile lock on, in addition to it's other compliments. Some later models also had a stealth drive capable of cloaking the Pegasus for a limited amount of time.

• EFX-083 Pegasus: The model that is displayed here. Basic model, single seat designated fighter model, 2018 built in 2163-2166

• EFX-083a Pegasus: Basic model, improved radar system, heavily redesigned wing for better performance in atmosphere and smaller nacelles for neutron ion blasters single seat, 2732 built in 2166-2169

• EFX-083t Pegasus: training version, nearly identical to the a varient, two seat, 300 built in 2163-2163

• EFX-083b Pegasus: Basic model, more streamlined nacelles for the neutron ion blasters, single seat, 3053 built in 2168-2173

• EFX-083c Pegasus: Radical new design and massive upgrades, single seat, 12628 built in 2173-2179

• EFX-083d Pegasus (Wyvern lite): kept the radical design from the c model, single seat, built to test the new Wyvern components and various other things, 30 built in 2178-2179
