The S series of ALCo engines started with the S1. Then followed the S2, S3, and S4. The difference between the S2/4 and S1/3 is the trucks. The S4 has 1,000 turbocharged horses under the hood, and has AAR trucks. They were competition to the rest of the switchers in America, and ALCo sold the most units.
