@coalhouse I have version 1.12.128.0, which I downloaded from Steam. The Overload mod was included. Also this:

Since the 1.9 update, this mod has been included in the stock game so that it can be loaded on mobile as well as PC. To use it, you should just be able to open the Mods section on the home screen, and enable it. Pressing download is not necessary.

    1) Select the left wing
    2) Click the Overload Icon (first icon at the bottom right)
    3) In the drop-down list at the top of the Overload window, select "ControlSurface"
    4) In the field labelled "inputId", type "Roll+Pitch"
    5) Make sure the value for "invert" is "false"
    6) Click the tick mark at the bottom of the window
    7) Repeat for the right wing, but type "Roll-Pitch" in the "inputId" field

There is definitely room for improvement:
. The wing loading is too high, i.e. the wings are too small for the weight of the plane
. The landing gear arrangement means the nose of the plane cannot be raised for takeoff (in fact, I couldn't get it to take off before falling off the end of the runway).

@PULLUP Actually, I got it worked out: It's Rpmx, where x is the number of the engine.

  • AV-10 2.7 years ago

@PULLUP Very interesting! I tried using the input formula on a plane with a Blade T3000 engine, but the needle stayed at 0. What did I do wrong?

Flies very nicely. You may want to make the nose wheel turnable so the plane can be steered on the ground.

Fixed! Working version is here: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/5jk46J/Mirage-IIIc-Fixed
    What was wrong:
    1) The center of mass was behind the center of lift
    2) The elevators worked in reverse, because of the way the game implements them
    3) The pronounced nose down stance of the undercarriage and the location of the main wheels prevented takeoff

    What I did:
    1) Replaced single big engine at the back with two smaller engines located further forward, inside the fuselage.
    2) Implemented elevons instead of separate elevators and ailerons
    3) Relocated the main wheels further forward and scaled them down to give the plane a more horizontal attitude.

Your plane is too heavy and/or underpowered

  • german_Me-163 2.7 years ago

@Airbusfan12345 Thank you. Not my design, though. All I did, as indicated int the description, was substitute elevons for TonnkatuTonnkatuThePig's separate ailerons and elevator, for an added touch of realism.

Start with ailerons, then set input to Pitch+Roll on the RH side, and Pitch-Roll on the LH side. See this plane for a working example: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/40xpIQ/Delta-Wing

Also look at this one for ruddervators, i.e. V-tail, based on the same principle, but with combined ptich and yaw:
