    If you want to do air to air refueling you have to click on the refueling probe and use overload to set disableAircraftCollisions to false (use the capitalization). I’m guessing it was set to true so it wouldn’t collide when retracted and wasn’t tested after that. Currently the probe just fazes straight through.
    Why is this comment already too long lol?
    This looks great btw, love it. The cockpit is awesome!

    I’ve entered. Also 1950s-1990s is more like Cold War challenge.

    I’m guessing real and/or never built/put in service.

    Strange because when I just downloaded this pitch was roll and roll was pitch. I’m guessing there was an update that broke this, and it’s something with the real way gyroscopic stuff works or whatever.

    NEW new version already on the way!

  • F-14 D Super Tomcat VF-31 1.6 years ago

    @LinusTouchTips
    Cool, man.
    I just wrote this comment and accidentally deleted it by upvoting before I submitted it lol.
    AG-8 being standard sweep makes sense. The really F-14 has notches for the manual sweep handle for full sweep and over-sweep. I just think it would be nice to have the ability to go into over-sweep too.
    It looks AMAZING though, great job on it!
    And sorry for the massive for comment, and thanks for reading it all. If you want any help with this or any other project, feel free to ask me.
    If you want to write a FAR too long comment on my F-14, (mostly because my F-14 is my only decent aircraft) please do!
    (Even this comment is too long lol)

  • F-14 D Super Tomcat VF-31 1.6 years ago

    I'm not trying to be a hater, it's supposed to be constructive criticism, but hear me out:

    Most F-14s on the front page look great, but lack proper functionality (unless you're talking about the F-14 I saw with EVERY... SINGLE... SWITCH... which had great functionality [at tanking my FPS] and was pretty cool) and cockpits that leave some to be desired, at least in the realism aspect.
    This one looks awesome and flies alright, but the realism isn't the best. (AWESOME afterburner by the way)
    This'll just be a list of things I'd like to be improved upon so it doesn't sound like I hate this thinks entire existence.

    First off: THE DARN FLAPS! THOSE THINGS WENT LIKE 60 DEGREES DOWN LOL
    Idk the real flap angle, but I would go somewhere 30-40 degrees.

    Second, the aircraft pretty much has fly-by-wire. I understand it to make it easier to handle, but things like the slats moving automatically kinda bugs me.

    The cockpit could be greatly approved upon, especially the RIO seat. I get that it's probably a mix to be good looking but also functional. If you want a more realistic cockpit, not to toot my own horn, but I am more than willing to help. :) I have a Tomcat of my own, (although some changes for the D variant would be needed) and it would be great to check it out if you want. Mine is far from perfect, and if anyone wants to write a long-winded comment of the things you would like to be improved on on mine, (technically proper grammar?) PLEASE DO!

    And lastly, the wings:
    If action group 8 is meant to be the storage sweep, it goes past the normal 68 degree wing sweep (as you may have noticed, I'm a major F-14 nerd). I also suggest making either negative or positive VTOL the flaps, and the other side manual wing sweep. Say positive VTOL is the flaps ik it's weird instead of negative, it's because I want negative for manual wing sweep) and negative VTOL manual wing sweep. When VTOL goes all the way down (negative), the wings sweep 75 degrees back (doesn't have to be exact idk if mine is) and VTOL up makes the flaps go down.)
    The wings also need more lift. :)

    And again, I'm not trying to hate on you or your aircraft. It's just supposed to help. As I said before please go ahead and do the same thing to my aircraft!
    I hope this helped a little.

    And JEEZ this is a long comment!

  • Mig-49 (Jade) 1.6 years ago

    @7hatN3wGuy
    Cool, I’ll do it, you can re-upload my upload with the cockpit, just credit me in the description. :)

  • Mig-49 (Jade) 1.6 years ago

    Oh wait, the F-82 is a real aircraft, two P-51D Mustangs (or F-51 depending on when it would be placed) welded wing to wing. How about the F-62A Barracuda?

  • Mig-49 (Jade) 1.6 years ago

    F-82A Barracuda
    Or for a Russian/USSR version:
    Su-102A Fisher
    (Both being fish related is a coincidence lol)

    I could add a cockpit and custom canopy for you if you would like, just let me know if you would like that.

  • Lockheed-Martin F-25 Viper 1.6 years ago

    I find the name F-25 Viper so funny because everyone says the F-35 "Raptor", but it's the Lightning II, the number is as if they were mashed together, and then to top it all off, it's called the viper, like the F-16's Fighting Falcon's nickname.
    Looks cool!

    Why’s that? To my understanding a symmetrical wing wouldn’t produce any lift at 0 AOA. Thanks for the feedback!

  • F-14A (Version 0.5 WIP) 1.6 years ago

    @Scrugy51
    Lol thanks man. The new version is already on the way with a Pilot and Rio, head movement, (hopefully) more realistic flight characteristics, and functioning ejector seats.

    Anyone here know how to make something point at the target no matter the orientation? I'm putting a pilot and RIO into my tomcat and I need the RIO to look at the target, even when rolled to the side, etc. I have (Heading / 180) - (TargetHeading / 180) and TargetElevation in it, but it doesn't work unless it's perfectly upright. I have a rotator with a hinge rotator on top.

    Lol I posted that before I read the rest of the description, but it looks like a T-55 from VTOL VR. I had no clue there was a real hodgepodge between an F-16 and a trainer of sorts.

    Help 'we'? come on me get your spelling together it's meant to be ME.

  • Funky Trees! 1.7 years ago

    @F14FANATIC Since you're, well... an F-14 fanatic, could you help we with my F-14? It's not rolling well. At low speeds (roughly 200-450 kts) it rolls like an airliner, maybe even worse. Only the horizontal stabs are rolling the aircraft not the spoilers. I don't have the spoiled roll it because when the wings are back, it also pitches the aircraft up. Any ideas to make it roll better? I've tried xml shrunk wings that I manually enlarged (shrink using overload or finetuner or whatever, then used the 'edit wing shape' button to make it larger) and put them in the fuselage and I've tried in the wings too. (Both were like 90% aileron and 10% wing lol)
    Sorry for the long comment, and anyone else who has any ideas feel free to tell me.
