I am fully aware that the feature system was designed to give recognition to new players who build good machines. I will not argue that this fellow or his builds do not deserve any recognition, however, it is important to recognize that there are many other builders who pour time, sweat, and most importantly, dedication to their creations, some topping over hundreds and even thousands of parts. Do they deserve any recognition? Do they deserve any respect? Are those magnificent creations even noticed by the community? The list goes on. Now, let's return to the topic of hand. This P-47. As the description rightly says, this was an American Fighter-Bomber that saw action in the second world war. Now suppose I were a foreigner. Suppose I had little knowledge about what the P-47 actually was. Now, I know what you're going to say. "Oh, everyone knows what the P-47 was". But that's not the point I'm trying to prove. We all know what the P-47 was, but do we know it's top speed? Do we know its ceiling altitude? Oh, what caliber are the guns? How many sorties did it fly?. The bottom line is, the description lacks depth, it (greatly) lacks any information besides the main thing every one of us knows! Please! Put some detail into the description! Provide some background information, some details, some statistics! Now as for the plane, I see no reason to batter it any further. I see @RussianAS has done a brilliant job with that. I want to show you why the feature system has strayed to far out of the boundaries of its original purpose. "Hey dude look at this train dude! It's awesome I think it deserves a feature!" Moderator: "Nah man I'm gonna have to give it to this 188 part MiG". Now let me explain that in more detail. That train had a detailed cockpit and a full interior, and what does it get? A solid six upvotes! But that 188 Part MiG sure beats it, doesn't it?. A while ago there was a user called IRIAF. He was a good man, spoke poor English, but built awesome helicopters. He even taught me how to build them. One day he decided to upload his prized 700 part helicopter, that he had worked on for months! It picked up ground quickly and stood at a solid 40 upvotes. But IRIAF wasn't satisfied. He thought it deserved more, and so did I. Since the mods would not give him, the recognition it deserved, he decided to take i
@Gameboi14
Sometimes, good builds can just go unrecognized, it happens. But what really matters is how you respond to that. Do you give up? Or do you keep improving those builds until they are recognized.
@apfel33
depends on the people in it. I'll give you my full philosophy.
There are 4 stages to a discord simpleplanes RP
Stage 1: Eos Intratere
Most of the playerbase from the forums join the discord server and the system is planned out and proceeds accordingly.
Stage 2: Iteram Etiam
The RP proceeds in a similar fashion to the RP on the forums, players may realize that discord improves the gameplay as one is able to see when another is online and the system is generally more reliable.
Stage 3: Turbulentem
A few of the players start to get akin to Discord's actual features and the server starts to become more of a place to socialize rather than RP. More and more people start to get swayed from the server's original purpose. This socialization starts to influence the actual gameplay as the socializers start to create alliances among themselves. A good RP requires alliance but with too many on the hand, it really starts to become difficult to attack or even perform basic actions of the RP. Soon enough these groups of people start to attack in hordes and eliminate players with less allies. Eventually the RP becomes so off-topic that RPing becomes absolutely impossible. Also without proper regulations (such as the ones present on the website) the RP can become much more slanderous than can be controlled. Even with rules set in place the moderation is usually not as effective. Say for here if one were to spew out racism or hate speech against another user, that person would be quickly punished as fit to the moderators. On discord the moderators might not be so reliable, which further ruins the RP experience (given that there is any left)
Stage 5: Mortem
The combined result of all these factors is that the RP will quickly start to die. Players may start to get disinterested, they may leave due to hate speech from other users, they may quit in frustration from the unbalanced gameplay, or the server loses its purpose entirely and is reformed into a socialization zone. (I've seen all 4)
So that was my 2 cents, I'm not claiming that every RP in existence follows this path but I have been in many discord RPs that share a similar arch. The simpleplanes forums keeps the RP on-topic, slander-free, and secure by moderation. The longer an RP exists on the forums, the more prosperous it will be.
@exosuit
I don't know where you are getting the first part. If you had read my text correctly, I had said that the original purpose of the feature system was to give recognition to new people, etc. However, nowadays it has strayed out of that original purpose as bland and tasteless builds are getting featured while other more complicated machines are ignored, if you had read my text correctly you would understand this. The moderators chose to feature the same type of build from the same person 3 times and therefore several users decided to evaluate this decision. The assumption that you have made that I am "double-crossing" myself is false. Yes, at one point in time the feature system allowed new users and other users to be recognized for their good builds but now only new users are granted features whether those builds have quality or not. Take in, for example, your "SPP-27A7M4". It exhibited great detail, a custom cockpit, custom gear, and an extremely thorough description. Therefore and so it was rightly featured. This is an example of the feature system doing its Job, providing recognition to good builds. However, this exhibits minimalist detail, a poor description, and little to no improvement from the last feature he had received (Keep in mind he has received 3 so far). Conclusively I can say there is a great imbalance between what can be considered feature worthy, and not feature worthy and I'm afraid some (not all) of the moderators have had trouble differentiating the two.
@Cardboard
I was saying in the sense that people in RPs use simpleplanes to create their equipment, in this way it is connected to simpleplanes. The one you posted should not be a problem as you can clearly see it is an RP post.
I've seen far worse SP Role-playing than you've seen here, and I actually thought that this would be one of the better RPs that I would join. So sad to see it die so quickly.
Since this discussion does not seem to be going anywhere as anyone who joins simple restates a point brought up by a previous user, I see no reason to push this discussion any further. Whoever this otayahiromo8211 is, may God guide him. And as @Blue0Bull said we should all focus on improving our own crafts so they do get featured rather than complaining why other crafts get featured. I myself have been debating this point for far too long, as it is currently 3:00 AM, so I rest my case. @ThePilotDude @DeezDucks
@ThePilotDude
True, they were not. However, us, as the player base have incorporated them into the actual mechanics of the game. Every last one of us knows in the back of their minds that upvotes are how this site works yet we resist the urge to admit it.
The factors you brought up are valid points, yet that is not always the case. A plane could have good presentation, good quality, good time of uploading (ex 6 pm, not 3 am), and good quality/part count yet it could still go recognized. The point that I am trying to prove is that although the feature system is a legitimate way to earn recognition, it is greatly flawed as planes that do not deserve the features are getting most of them, which presents great imbalances that will destabilize the community.
it into his own hands. He advertised, extensively. And what was he met with? Hate, violence, and slander. And before I knew it, he vanished. Whether it be willingly or unwillingly, I might never see him again. If baseless, repetitive builds like this continue to get featured, with all other creativity ignored, then this community will collapse, and the moderators will be powerless to stop it.
Nice and simple design. Flight is ok until you try yaw-ing. . . This is why helicopters need tail rotors, otherwise they spin out of control. The only practical way a helicopter can go without a tail rotor is when it has a coaxial main rotor. I highly recommend you add a tail rotor for the sake of stability.
That's a lot you should be happy, there are people who work hard on things then get 0-5 upvotes. If you think you will get 100 upvotes on every build then you are wrong. That's not how this community works.
@Gameboi14
No problem. Remember, never get discouraged on how many upvotes you receive, keep trying again until you succeed. Even Platinum users face these problems.
The last person I'd ever expect to get banned. lmao

How many missiles do you want on your plane?
+4matimodel45bis: yes
Technically speaking. The gun would do more damage to the truck than the actual target.
+4This certainly deserves a feature.

+3I don't think it's that hard to recognize a roleplay post without clicking on it and seeing the tags.
SP Forums are fine. Keep SP related things on the SP website.
+3Also, RPs in the forums are fine as long as they connect to actual simpleplanes. On discord, everything goes haywire.
