@WinsWings I did peruse the instructions, hence my question. I just wanted to know how far the believability went for people that decided to build a non-replica, is all. Looks are just one component of that.
On the subject of fictional builds, how 'fictional' is one allowed to go?
. If I entered (and therefore broke my rule to not come back to SP website lol), I have a fictional (strangereal-esque?) nation that utilizes a fictional metal which has the material strength of steel but the weight of, say, a high strength composite/polymer or something. Would that be an instant throwaway entry?
I tried doing something like this a long while ago using a Boeing 787-8. It didn't look all that different from this build even down to the built-up square engines (I added working thrust reversers too, so that was fun.) Very nice. :)
.
What did you do for the windows?
I wish this info was known when I started playing SP. I really do. FINALLY someone comes along that actually explains the exact requirements for AI-friendly planes to spawn in. You have my thanks.
.
I will add that the no-drag fuselage trick is just better for builds period; makes balancing realistic speed way easier. Also useful for multiplayer when someone inevitably spawns with a 1000+ part build and wonders why there's lag everywhere lol
@Falkenwut In my opinion, the USAF was already sitting on a plane that perfectly fit their wants; The F-5A Freedom Fighter (not the later -5E Tiger II, just to be clear.) Light, small, cheap, no radar, can still use IR missiles, had 20mm cannon (and actually reliable ones unlike the US Navy), and was decently fast and agile. Then again it could carry bombs and rockets too so...lol
"I have no idea who in their right mind thought 14x (AN/)M2 Brownings were a good idea..."
.
...This IS the USA we're talking about here. They clearly did - take what you will from what I'm implying ;)
.
I am legit excited for that Phantom though
Quite stable when flying, rock solid in roll response, the missile bay is cute, and I love the overall style and aesthetic of this build. Not bad at all. :)
.
The only odd thing is lack of cockpit view, but that's only an issue when trying to use the gun. Otherwise I like this a lot
@WorstPlaneIEverMake Oh he was wondering if you had that plane I made for Cerdd and if you might reupload it.
.
Sorry if I came off as aggressive and/or rude.
.
I don't mind if my builds are reposted as long as they had something about them changed. That's stated in the rules and pretty much one of the big selling points of the game. Definitely play around with my stuff and see what you can do with it, or even use it as a stepping stone to start building stuff the way I did.
.
Oh and good luck with school. You got this. :)
@Brayden1981 Okay I'm gonna ask you to stop. You're being pushy and frankly one of your comments (that I yeeted, to be honest) came off as immature.
.
You wanna see planes that were on the quality level I had? Go make them yourself. Go out and contribute to the community, man. Don't come here and beg me to bring everything back (that i ALSO deleted from my computer so they're gone-gone) or you'll "cry." Let's be better than that.
.
@Tomcatbetterthanhornet maybe it's your turn to fill the niché that I did. You never know.
Uhm
.
This project WAS complete. What do you think "Proof of Concept" means? I was testing if I COULD build a stealth fighter shape. It was not a W.I.P. of an F-22. I even stated this in the description of the actual post. >.>
@MrAdhmGamer Y'know what? I don't normally step into stuff like this but just this once Imma throw my two cents in (mods, I am trying to be polite here, but let me know if it comes off hostile at all);
.
People like you are the reason I stepped away from organized religion as a whole and focused on my personal faith. If the god of Christianity asks us to be loving, why do we suddenly then turn our back on people just trying to discover themselves?
.
Personally I believe trans people, gay people, etc. are becoming the person my higher power wants them to be - they just had to fight to get to it. I encourage you to step away from rigid dogma and try to open your mind a little to fellow humans and then decide if you gel with it or not. We aren't supposed to judge according to the bible anyways; that's for the higher power to do, yeah?
okay, having actually flown it for a bit I can say that I already like how it handles, and I stand by my comment on the LG being very clever. Def gonna play around with it :)
@SCPCalebkid bruv I always take forever to build/upload things lol
.
@EchoVehicle No need to request because a Hellcat is already in my long...long...long list of ideas for WWII planes to make.
Okay???
.
I mean I like this. I don't care if people modify my stuff; the rules allow that. It's the straight up stealing with no real modifications that isn't allowed.
.
So this is essentially a MiG-23 with Su-15 wings, no?
"This aircraft cannot land properly. When you tried to brake, it will stoppie very hard and break your front propeller."
.
It's a tail-dragger. Gotta learn to land like a tail-dragger; Tap the brakes, never just hold them down. Don't even touch the brakes until all three wheels can be on the ground without the plane lifting off again (as in wait until speed is low enough).
@IshiMoss I see. Thank you for the information!
.
Only thing that still puzzles me with the explanation is why use the conversion for some planes and not others? Also published speeds are usually TAS and not IAS, yeah? So are we technically converting that also?
@ReinMcDeer I mean I put out the HG II variant, so safe to say going all in on the whole Luftwaffe '46 thing is allowable :>
.
I think there was an Me 262 model planned which used pulse jets like the V1 buzz bomb. That would've been wild
The R-4 was suggested for the Me 262, but this thing would have required the pilot to take their focus off of flying the aircraft. Not exactly ideal, so two-seaters were prescribed as ideal for using the weapon (precursor to WSO role, you could argue.) Still most Luftwaffe '46 planes seem to have options for the R-4; the Ta 183 is probably the most famous one, plus the Heinkel Lerche.
@Kangy Coolest I could agree. Wackiest? No that would be the Triebflugel, Lerche, Bachem Natter, or any number of emergency fighters like the Heinkel P.1078, Messerschmitt P.1112, Lippisch's...anything, etc.
@WinsWings I did peruse the instructions, hence my question. I just wanted to know how far the believability went for people that decided to build a non-replica, is all. Looks are just one component of that.

I bet I could recreate the Master of Puppets album art with these

childhood nostalgia right there - even if it does look a little jank at times (it's just SP being SP). Very faithful. nice work :)

@NavalMan96 There are three switches that arm a pair of guns in the cockpit on the right panel. They are the rearmost three switches.
+1Alexander Lippisch would be proud to see this lol
+1.
@MrAdhmGamer @Tammatt Nah, just the Lippisch P.13. The Fishbed wishes it had this chad shape
444 parts
+1.
H m m m m m m . . .
@ReinMcDeer My F-14A was 660 parts with 2x AIM-54A, 2x AIM-7F, and 2x AIM-9H

HOWEVER that is immensely clever main gear design
@UmbrellaCorporation yes, why?
+1I did actually have a Blue Angels variant of my Bearcat already linked in the description.

I'll have to test myself and see how it works again
Funny, that first image is what I used as a blueprint for my build of this lol

+1@3AMIndustries ...Go check my build list lol
+1@Falkenwut I mean I have an FA.2, GR.1, and a GR.3 sitting on my steam awaiting uploading so...I feel ya lol
