I do get why you don't like these posts, and I too do grow sick of them when I'm browsing through reasonably well made posts, trying to find a new one to play with. I guess I could talk with a bit of experience in the subject (just look at my posting record, I had a gap of about 1 and a bit years between posts), where you return to a community that was relatively small (at least for me), that has experienced large growth and development, with even more amazing and talented creators on the site, sharing their new concepts or cool planes. I'd imagine that these posts are people feeling like a part of something special, as with quite a few indie games, and they may feel guilty or a fear of being left out if they come back without an explanation.
To that I’d say "Whatever. It's a game", but I know that a younger me would have been all over the whole "sorry for inactivity" band wagon, especially if there are larger creators saying similar things; I can't be bothered to find them, but I swear I've seen things like 'I'm back' or 'sorry for absence' from older creators. In essence, there is an issue with the smaller creators (not saying I’m that huge anyway) posting whatever they want on the site and creating relatively poor plane designs, however, if the devs were to do a crackdown on things like this, it’d just put said players off playing, removing some of the community for good, for the small benefit of pleasing those agreeing in the comments of this rant as well as yourself. Ultimately, they can do whatever they want, within the community guidelines. And just a reminder, within the first rule, the devs even acknowledge that “kids use this site”, so you should expect posts like these from kids who don’t know best.
EDIT: I know it's slightly different, and reasonably well made, but here's one from Hypnotoad: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/sEZ7bo/I-missed-you-guys . If one of the higher ranking guys posts one, people are going to follow their example.
@Wilsphere102 Yeah, well... This was made in a time where when we didn't have the luxury of customisable wheels or suspension, so it was very much an experimental vehicle, for it's time. It wasn't even my design, (I just thought the original upload was kinda scrappy, even though it received quite a few upvotes).
I love the flames out the engines. When I saw one fly over, the fire spitting engines really grabbed my attention, aside from the magnificent roar from the engines.
I absolutely love this! The dump and burn is amazing! The only thing I wish is see more of in the simple planes F-111's is the ejection cockpit. The whole front just disappearing from this plane would be absolutely mental.
I wouldn't go as far as saying their identical, but definitely similar (especially since the front of the millennium falcon has a large flat spot, not quite ideal for aerodynamic purposes).
What really sucks is that if I started on the opposite side, I would have at least won my first bracket, but due to the uncontrollability of the opponent, I would gain an early lead, go for the turn in, he would overtake on the first corner and I would always rear end him and loose by default :(
You really can't control that sort of thing... in my design I compensated for this by creating a tonne of downforce (not literally) and decreased the motor horsepower by quite a bit, and also had a crazy amount of suspension travel.
@CrazyBrick15
I'm on the iPad Air or something like that and I don't really have any problems (I suppose that 1GB of ram is enough to do that). Make sure you have your settings on min.
I've been playing SP for a while. I tend to build things related to the physics of the game and cool mechanics that I either think of or see on reddit or something. Most of my builds just end up somewhere in my vast collection of saved planes and other things.
@TemDesBur
I know that you said it was inspired by my one, but this is way way way way way way more cooler! The turning is amazing, the styling is amazing. Nice work man!
When: 10.5 days time, whenever that is for you
How: I'm pretty sure they stream it on twitch (there is generally a link posted to either reddit or the site or something like that)
@KILLERSOREN
@KILLERSOREN The AI races your car for you... They generally stream the "event" for a while. It consists of different brackets which your cars are slotted into randomly, and then the two cars race head-to-head, controlled by the AI, until one crashes and/or finishes the race. You can read further into it on the webpage in the description of the race.
I've managed to land on the aircraft carrier many times with the more realistic planes. You just have to pretty much stall onto the deck. The well made Su-27 and 37's are pretty good at doing that.
I know, and I do sincerely thank you for the comment...
In terms of when they released the 'no asking for feature' comment, it was a while ago when there were tonnes of people asking for features and up votes, etc. so the mods created a forums post asking people to stop asking for features.
@Razr
Not too sure if it is... And don't you remember the post put out by mods saying not to pressure them into featuring things? I do thank you for the kind thought but I wouldn't go asking for this to be featured... It's up to them if they think it's feature worthy.
@Razr
Don't get beat up about the car under steering. Under steer only happens when the driver tries to turn too hard, and I think you'll find that all the fast cars on SP under steer a lot too.
I find these cars kinda funny. There are quite literally none in Australia, so I found it rather peculiar seeming tonnes of them when I was in LA. Nice job!
Aside from the lag that this creates on my iPad, I love it! The way the plane loads and unloads is amazing, especially the use of the pistons to hold the car in place! Great job!

+1@greasytortle No, but now that you've said that, I do see the resemblance. What a throwback!

"Nobody expects an airliner to be used in a suicide attack"...
Why does it always yaw to the left?

Which one does it look like to you?
If you want... just expressing my thoughts.
@legendary666
Looks more like a lotus esprit s1

@TemDesBur
Yes, but at the start of races it sometimes causes FPS drop (I'm on iPad so I don't really know how iPhones/iPods handle it)

Whoops... I though I fixed that :D. Must have uploaded the wrong one XD
@brucethemoose
@TemDesBur Thanks for the upvote and spotlight!

Another chinook :D@Kevinairlines
My mistake :)@AccipitrisEnterprises
Jundroo is a US based company, but I'm sure you can figure it out with some time conversions :).

Maybe I'm just running it on too low of a physics setting (low and occasionally medium)
@Booster456
100th competitor! LLLLLEEEETTTTTSSSS GGGOOOOOOOOO
Where's the control stick XD
@WeeBabySeamus Arrestor hooks and cables confirmed?
Works every 8/10 times for me :D
Yeah, but if people could redesign it and use xml modding to make it smaller, it could potentially allow for engine designs that work!
@Noahproblem
One of two things:
1. A truck with suspension travel like this:

I'm good with the whole building and designing... Not so skilled with the weapons systems, and it doesn't help that I barely play it anymore...
:P

It didn't get nearly as much attention as I would have liked it to have got.

Thought you might like the updated version a bit more.
Very nice
When you get this thing trimmed perfectly, it's so rewarding.
How can this not be better than Scriefer's when his one doesn't even have lights XD

Don't think I didn't see those VTOL nozzles in the middle :/
