To me using anime thumbnails that covers 1/5 of the thumbnail is ok as long the anime is not too nsfw that makes the eyes and brains only look for the thumbnails instead of the builds. I'm not a weeb myself but that's my own opinion
But if it's too revealing and the build is crap I would consider it as point farming. Because thumbnails are everything to gain upvotes.
I mean look at bernkastel he used anime in thumbnail without presenting a crappy build.
