Very fun and innovative build. Nice work. Only changes I'd recommend are to make it look better, and angle the cockpit downwards so you can see straight ahead in cockpit view.
@Nickr I know, right? Just an endless stream of people who don't think for themselves, who don't care to talk to me to see where I'm coming from, who just regurgitate whatever propaganda they've heard from the haters on this website and who feel free to offer me advice when my building skill is many, many levels above theirs. Oof indeed.
@Randomdoggo If I want your suggestions, I'll ask for them. But for your information, I build landing gear when I feel like it. I'm fairly sure that mine is the only XB-70 on SP so far to have landing gear with the three-axis rotation of the original. Which is not a tremendous achievement by my standards, but considering no one else has done it, I find it amusing that people think I can't build landing gear... especially when I've addressed the matter in the FAQ section on my profile.
@Maxwing1 Were you nice? Did you upvote my build? Did you leave a nice comment? You really couldn't find one positive thing to say about a build like this? No, instead you had the nerve to ask why I don't just do the same thing as everyone else. Considering all that, I think I was a lot nicer than you deserve.
@Maxwing1 What's a "normal" plane? Who gets to define what's "normal"? And where does this idea come from that everyone should only do what someone has decreed is "normal"?
If everyone only did what's "normal" we'd still be living in caves. Because that was "normal" at one time.
You look at something that's several levels up from "normal", and instead of saying "wow, that's amazing" all you can say is "why don't you make normal planes"?
I hope you change your attitude radically sometime soon, or you're headed for a dead average life.
@BaconRoll I'm glad you feel that way... so do I. With the difference that I'd prefer them to be machined out of metal. 3D printing wouldn't be smooth enough :)
@Shemes213 none of my builds are from the past. Even if a build of mine looks like a replica, it's supposed to be a recreation using future technology.
There are other differences as well - the shape is slightly different, the engines are much larger, and it has a bare metal finish instead of the usual black paint. And it goes nearly twice as fast as the real Blackbird could.
The idea is not to limit myself to what's been done before, but to imagine what could be.
And thanks, but I don't like cookies. Dried meats are more my thing :)
@CRJ900Pilot There are so many interesting facts about the SR-71. Most people, even most enthusiasts, have only scratched the surface of all there is to know.
I made a YF-12 earlier. At that time I didn't have the blended fuselage-chine-wing shape figured out, though.
@asteroidbook345 Yeah... but then it wouldn't be as much fun. Imagine a virtual cockpit as on the F-35, that lets you see all around you with no restrictions. Now imagine that at Mach 3+ and 90,000 feet...
@AWESOMENESS360 I do like it when people remember little things... yeah, the leading edge is made of Carbex, grown as a single piece by molecular deposition. The metallic bit is a high-temperature hyperalloy, the composition of which I could tell you, but then black-clad men in black helicopters would be descending on you very shortly...
@CRJ900Pilot Thanks. I'll use color if the build calls for it. On this one, for instance, I can't see anything colorful looking good. Feel free to prove me wrong, though.
So you see, I make a lot more than smooth builds. But yeah, in general, I like smooth stuff. I could add panel lines if I wanted to, but they're very expensive in terms of parts. For instance, one smooth shape could be built out of 400 parts. If I wanted just one panel line crossing that, I'd need another 400 parts. Two lines, 800 parts. So it's partly what I prefer, and partly a limitation of the game engine.
@SledDriver thy dont soun very rudely or negative.. i just exactly used the "why dont you paint your builds and why your builds are so smooth" in different way to make them think that it was actually not staged and serious..
"Why SledDrivers Builds are so blank and why it is so blacc refers to why dont you pain your builds and the kiddie slide shape refers to the smoothness of your builds the "slide" was th one that refers the sentence into the smoothness of your build since a good quality slides is smooth..
Really? So when you say "why are they shaped like a kiddie's slide" you're actually asking me why my builds are of such high quality? In a forum post titled "Criticism of SledDriver's Builds"? Not in the habit of thinking before you say something, are you?
You asked the exact questions I specifically told you not to ask. If you were being honest, you'd have commented on one of my builds, not in the forum -- with your buddies immediately posting deliberately incendiary comments like "lack of originality since his first build." You really thought I'd fall for that, SnarkFannyPoo?
Since you and your friends are clearly incapable of figuring this out on your own, here's a helpful idea that will probably blow your tiny minds: before you set out to try to manipulate someone, make sure they're dumber than you are.
@0n33 Also keep in mind that when people on this site say that I "can't take criticism", what they really mean is that I don't take their suggestions on board, thereby hurting their precious little egos.
Hey SledDriver.. i was dared to criticize your builds.. please dont take anything too seriously.. ill criticize them once you have read this.. and also once you accepted
my permission to criticize them..
When I respond negatively to criticism, it's because it was dumb, or it was said rudely. So if you can avoid those two mistakes, feel free. It would also save time if you could avoid criticizing things that are deliberate choices, e.g. "lol why don't you paint your builds" or "why are your builds so smooth" etc.
@Armyguy1534 That's strange. Are you sure you have the right bearing and speed? If it works for some Android users it should work for all Android users.
Thanks, @Texasfam04. Yeah, when I built this, I was blown away by how much difference a slight angle makes. Kicked myself for not trying it earlier.
@Ryan2001 I have all kinds of stuff...
+1Glad you like it, @Ryan2001. If you look through my posts pages, you'll find lots of even nuttier builds.
Thanks, @Tarquez

+1@TMach5 Sure. I think you did yourself a disservice with that first screenshot, it's hard to really make out the shape of the plane.
+1@Shemes213 You asked a civil question, no need to apologise.
The controls are a bit weird, but it's a pretty good concept.
@Randomdoggo k

@Nerfaddict Good.
@Nerfaddict Correction: I am not an average person.

@FOXLOVER It's not available.
Glad you find it so, @Tang0five
@BaconRoll I'm glad you feel that way... so do I. With the difference that I'd prefer them to be machined out of metal. 3D printing wouldn't be smooth enough :)
+1@grizzlitn merci beaucoup, mon ami

+1@asteroidbook345 Think about what could be possible with the better materials, construction methods, and computer processing power available today.
+1Thanks, @ainanen
@AWESOMENESS360 Yeah, I got that name ("Carbex") from an excellent science-fiction novel called Reach, written by an actual astronaut, Ed Gibson.
Glad you like it, @Armyguy1534
Thanks, @spefyjerbf

+2Thanks, @AWESOMENESS360, I chose both materials very carefully :)
+1@Whatt I'm always nice unless someone comes at me with an attitude or acts in bad faith.
@CRJ900Pilot Sure, that'd only take about 360 more parts :)
Glad you think so, @randomusername
+1@CRJ900Pilot Thanks. I'll use color if the build calls for it. On this one, for instance, I can't see anything colorful looking good. Feel free to prove me wrong, though.
@FairFireFight You're right, thanks for pointing that out. That's what I get for copy-pasting...
Right you are, @TMach5.
@Whatt Here's the jaggediest of them all. A scaly one. A chunky one. Smooth and jagged at the same time. Here's one that's chunky as hell. A blocky one. Another blocky one.
So you see, I make a lot more than smooth builds. But yeah, in general, I like smooth stuff. I could add panel lines if I wanted to, but they're very expensive in terms of parts. @Whatt Also, I do have some blocky builds as well. But flying shapes are supposed to be smooth, you know...
@Whatt Because... that's... what... I... like.
Spasiba, @USSR. Glad you like.
Thanks, @Treadmill103. I thought you might like this one :)

Thanks, @PositivePlanes. Would you expect anything less?
+1@0n33 Read my first reply to you below, see if you can figure it out.

@Galeo @CptJacobson I'd hardly have upvoted it if I thought it was a copy...
