This is awesome! I added some dead weight to the tail to make it a bit easier to take off and fly at low speed. It looks great and flies great without overdoing it! Also, the main landing gear are really cool!

Hey there! Your problem is, your CoG (Center of Gravity) is too close to your CoL (Center of Lift). Your CoG should always be well forward of your CoL. The distance ahead determines your flight stability. If it is just in front, like yours currently is, it will have a tendency to flip, because the nose does not drop in a stall to increase airspeed and unstall the airplane. Now, a CoG that is far forward of the CoL will be extremely stable, sometimes too stable. It will resist changes in pitch. This can also cause your plane to ground loop in a tricycle gear configuration with a nose wheel. So, generally just a few feet in between the two is great.

As for your airplane, you can either move the CoL aft by moving the wings back, or you can add dead weight in the nose. I suggest the first one. To see the CoG, CoL and CoT (Thrust) press the spacebar.

I know that is a long explanation, but I hope it helps! Good Luck!

@LatteFun The majority of pitch issues can be fixed using pitch trim. Sometimes it's also a good idea to change the airfoil shape of each wing. Flat Bottom gives maximum lift, Symmetrical gives it neutral lift, and Semi Symmetrical is in between. If your aircraft tends to dive, your main wing needs to create more lift, or your horizontal stab. is making too much lift and needs less. It's the opposite if it tends to climb. I generally start with the wings at flat bottom or semi-symmetrical and the stabs at symmetrical and adjust from there. The last thing is, if you have a high speed aircraft, it many times will fly level at lower speeds but climb or descend at high speeds. The best way to fix this is setting all wings and stabs to symmetrical. I hope that answers your question!

    @HIILIKEPIE Ohh yeah, very nice!

  • Large Sea-Plane 8.5 years ago

    This is awesome! Nice Job!

  • SU-28 Cyclone 8.5 years ago

@HIILIKEPIE I haven't flown in a 150 but I've spent quite a bit of time working on one. One of my favorite airplanes! I have 45+ hours in 172P/SP and some time in a SGS 2-33. I love flying, but there isn't much that comes close to being thrown around, flying inverted, and looking up at the ground! :)

  • SU-28 Cyclone 8.5 years ago

@HIILIKEPIE Thanks! It would be awesome to have a SimplePlanes version!

@JacobHardy64 Yeah it is, although I didn't design it directly after the husky. Enjoy that flight though!

  • Research RESULTS: 8.5 years ago

@TehDuck There are some amazing designs that are in newest. Granted, a lot of trash, but a lot of good stuff as well. Without someone looking at the newest designs, most of us would have no points at all.

  • Research RESULTS: 8.5 years ago

This emphasizes how important it is to check the newest aircraft list every once in awhile. If you see something you like, or something that obviously has a lot of effort into it, check it out, comment, and upvote if you feel it deserves it. I, along with most others don't upload aircraft simply for the upvotes. But it's nice when others enjoy our creations that took a lot of time as much as we do.

  • Fully Articulating Crawler 8.6 years ago

@AgentNovaScotia Thanks! Is it falling apart after you download it? When I download it parts of the suspension fall apart and they have to be re-attached and the center does not rotate. But when I open my saved version it works fine.

This is probably a simple answer but I haven't had any luck finding the answer.

I have seen the hinges that are used on offroad vehicles and they are about .25 x .25. I only have the 'small hinge' and it looks like the same thing with a .5 x 1 looking box attached to it. So, how do I get a hinge without the box?
