WOW. It greatly captures the sound I was expecting. The engine sounded like it was struggling to put out more thrust as it picked up more speed, and I LOVE it. Maybe a bit too loud, but who cares? It's an afterburner.
On the topic of dry throttle, sound was great too. Disengaging the afterburner also had the sound fade out, which is definitely some realism there.
VFX - 8/10
I liked the flame. Like, seriously. What I do have against this is that the flame transitioned from pinkish to blue as the flame goes out further, which means it just gets hotter. Didn't quite make a lot of sense to me, but it's cool nonetheless.
Fuel Consumption - 9/10
It kind of has 'bad' fuel consumption rate on dry throttle, but not that much tbh. And like a real afterburner, it has worse consumption rate when engaged.
Also, I liked the speed boost your afterburner gave. Makes all that fuel consumption really worth the speed.
Overall Conclusion:
Insanely fast afterburning turbojet, realistic fuel consumption, and realistically loud as fuck. 27/30
Footnote:
Surprisingly, the aircraft itself flies good. Decent climb rate, decent turning and roll rate, and really stable with the vanilla autopilot. Also fast on dry throttle.
Had to re-edit my forum post multiple times for spelling errors. And all the while people are already commenting, and whenever I edited a new thing on the post, they've already commented and haven't saw it.
Sorry, but there's not a lot of flame tbh. Could've had more work on it, could've been better. The Mach diamonds were kind of cool, maybe cooler if accompanied by a bigger flame.
SFX - 7/10
Generic sound, but it captures the feeling of engaging the afterburner. And of course, it fades out when you disengage it. Could've been better, but you definitely did great on this.
Fuel Consumption - 3/10
I am really sorry for this, but it consumes a lot of fuel on dry throttle like there's no tomorrow. Consumes EVEN more on wet throttle.
Overall conclusion:
Bland afterburner, decent sound effect, horrible fuel consumption rate, could've done more work but you get a 14/30.
Footnote:
I think you really did a decent job on this, but honestly it doesn't hold up to the feeling. I hope you take this as criticism to be able to improve, not an insult to degrade your efforts. You could do one more submission, give it another shot and improve this afterburner! I allow 2 entries per player.
Liked the shock diamonds. Afterburner is a little too long though. And I like how there's no flame coming out when the afterburner isn't engaged. A tad bit of realism there. Although, the mix of the blue and red didn't look very blended together unlike a real afterburner.
SFX - 13/15
Sounded like a high-bypass turbofan. It sounds a bit unrealistic without afterburners engaged. Also, afterburning turbofans tend to slowly tone down their loudness after disabling the afterburner, unlike yours in which the afterburning sound stopped immediately.
On the topic of the afterburner sound, it's exactly like an afterburning turbojet. A bit too loud, but it catches the exact sound I expected.
Overall conclusion:
Afterburning high-bypass turbofan, a bit unrealistic but you still get a 23/30.
Footnote:
Doesn't look like it has realistic fuel consumption. Maybe I'll think about banning unlimited fuel for this challenge shortly. But you still get what's promised, an upvote and a spotlight.
Of course I still have stuff to attend to before I get cracking on something new, but at least it's done and dusted.
@IceCraftGaming Update: Just done :) It's the last day today and I'm finished.
+1T
+1I was gonna say it has outrageous fuel consumption but then I realized
Where left low pressure compressor
@ReinMcDeer Not the case for me. I went for a tailed delta lol.
Damn that's sick af
For me, I take references from other's builds wherever possible. Of course I didn't do that with my two MiGs back then, but whatever.
Man, if only academics weren't in the way. I'd fucking yoink any delta-wing aircraft before Oct and spice it up.
+1What map did you use?

Crap, I forgot to say T in the teaser post... That's okay. Sick build though, I wish I could try it.
+1Will you do more AC planes? Or go back to replica craft?
German = Funny

@Lake Yes, if you're too lazy to make a demo plane of your own.
+1@ReinMcDeer....shit. you beat me to it.
insane
+1Can't see shit. Can you fix it?
+2insane
Also, make this a toggleable option. Not everyone probably likes this, so it'd be great if you could enable or disable it.

Unlisted helps greatly with this.

meeg :)
+1@MrShenanigansSP Jesus.
How many parts?
@Hazerz Also, that's just a rough estimate of when it'll end. It could change, depending on what happens to me as time passes.
love how the steam is in text
+1Will you do a 1.11 version..?
+1not mobile friendly :(
@Numbers2 bruh same
+2this fried the shit out of my refrigerator, pls make it appliance friendly :(
+4add "german" to literally any build that isn't german and it'll be funny
+1Ghost of Pigev got a laugh out of me. This is better, though.
+1@Firgreen Tbh I wish. I might have regretted buying a tablet instead of a laptop.
The holy grail of aerospace engineering. Behind aluminum, of course.
+4Okay, that's amazing ngl. Have a spotlight.
+1I also agree
+2Oh. Never mind. Zero's landing gear detaches with high physics.
+1Is it okay to use high physics? I mean, my device can definitely take a beating. Cool carrier
Hey, so uhh... Can you make a 1.11 version without the mods?
+1Tbh I wish radar jammers actually worked in SP.
+2Can I use other's builds and put it in this challenge? Like, builds that aren't from this challenge.
@Hazerz Check the last photo
+1@Hazerz Two submissions per user.
+1A bit of an update:
Don't use unlimited fuel. I'll also rate your afterburner based on fuel consumption.

Land on literally everything that can precariously balance an aircraft.
