@jamesPLANESii irl, the 18m variant would have a 42:1 ratio (20m variant is at 46,6:1)
37:1 is a glide ratio similar to an ASW 15, which has 36,5.
An example from my memory: on of my instructors flew the Duo Discus (no engine, no XL variant) and made a long landing. He started off with 1m above the winch, so around 3m above the ground, an landed ~700m in front of it. The runway fell about 13m in elevation. With a ratio of 43:1, no problem. If you try that in SP with maintaining the speed, no chance, even though you have a better glide ratio. That's just a SP thing. Sadly...
@Chancey21 Sadly it is simple planes, and therefore it cannot have any real speeds, glide ratios, etc., if it doesn't have any engine. The actual best glide ratio of the DG1000S with 18m wing span is 42 at 123 kph (76 mph)[Which means you glide 42km far, while only sink 1km down.] Source
Woohoo finally a realistic and good glider on this site :D
Seriously, you did a really good job on it
Can't wait to fly the new 1001S neo from my club lol
Nice looking plane, but i got some more problems (at least in my opinion):
- Nose gear doesn't turn while taxiing
- Engines haven't got enough power, it's (at least for me) impossible to climb in low altitude, as well as to take off
- Why isn't the Yaw controllable?
- CoM is too far in the front, even the autopilot has a hard time staying on the same altitude
- Does the reverse thrust really reverse the thrust?
@iLikeipads It is! Also in germany you have the opportunity to use hours from a gliders license for a touring motor glider (but im not sure if it also works with a privat pilot license)
@iLikeipads What do you mean with "just" a glider? :D flying gliders is in my opinion way more fun, and if you're one of the acrobatic guys, search for glider aerobatics^^ But a Pilots license is worth anyway
@ThePilotDude Well you'll get trained by an instructor how to properly fly a glider. Then you'll make your first solo, and then some more things follow up, aswell as the theory exam. The whole process to get my license (SPL) took me about 2.5 years, which is i think pretty normal. If you want to decrease that time, go to a gliding school, and don't fail in the theory exam xD
@AdlerSteiner I'll probably build a flying wing without any weapons, because the real one doesn't have any. Also it is neither a warplane, nor a cargo, nor a airliner. Does it fit in then?
@EternalDarkness well there are double seated ones, which are mostly used for training and depending on the glider also aerobatics or long distance flights. Best example is the ASK21.
@Benny3053 Ja DG hat halt die neuen Winglets entwickelt und an die LS8 gemacht, sowie an die 1001 und die LS1... und @Feldo00 's bzw. mein Verein hat sich direkt eine 8er gekauft sowie ne 1001S
@Awsomur Yes, I know! Pretty cool right? I am a glider pilot myself and gonna fly in this thing in roughly 1 month or so hopefully! It's still in the manufacturing, but I'm so excited ^^
Im a private glider pilot (fixed wing and w/o engines ofc), various types of gliders including the Duo Discus, the LS8-sc neo and the ASK13 :D
Such nice wingflex
Looking good!
I have two building suggestions:
The Bücker Jungmann FK 131
and the Pitts Special S1-S
@jamesPLANESii ok lol xD
@jamesPLANESii is there a limit?

@jamesPLANESii I'm sorry, but not really, at least in my game lol... do you have the units mod?

...
How to land that thing?
Pretty neat, reminds me of a aerobatic glider
Can we use the ingame overload tool?
@GritAerospaceSolutionsLTD yup, just wanted to say what I've seen, so you can fix that as well :)

@ThePilotDude but theyre very expensive, at least in germany. If you're living there or in one of its neighbour states, try a gliding club

"Segel"Flugzeug ;)
thanks for the spotlight @sunshineflight3050
@AdlerSteiner :) good plane btw
Don't wanna bother you but isn't it "Meine Lola"? If you're referring to the women's name, it has to be feminine^^
This plane is brilliant!
How do these rocket boosters work?
@AdlerSteiner I'll probably build a flying wing without any weapons, because the real one doesn't have any. Also it is neither a warplane, nor a cargo, nor a airliner. Does it fit in then?
Thanks @SangerAircraft & @yoshicraze for the spotlights, really appreciate it
@Milo1628xa more or less realistic... :D
@EternalDarkness exactly 150 parts :D
@CRJ900Pilot thanks for the Spotlight!
@EternalDarkness I'll see if I'm gonna add some part. Whats the deadline time, and in which timezone?
@EternalDarkness dammit, didn't remember the part count criterium... :D
@Thoum and thanks for the spotlight!
@Mustang51 well thank you! I'm currently working on a optimized version of this aswell as a brand new LS8-sc neo (check the links in my bio for more)
@Kerbango He hasn't got an account yet
@EternalDarkness kk

What about training of glider pilots? Can I build a glider for that?

@BaconAircraft which one?
@jamesPLANESii It's beautiful :) xD
@BaconAircraft is that a mod that shows you the glide ratio and that stuff in the bottom right corner?
@Ariathe @FrogmasterAeroaenautics
@jamesPLANESii @Dllama4 @MrSilverWolf
@feldo00 @baithoven @BaconAircraft
@jamesPLANESii join the server of Baconaircraft (or the one he mentions in his bio)
In case you didn't got tagged @MisterT @Ariathe
@alexchub1 really? lol
@Mattangi Yup, thanks a lot
