@mixhaelr why wouldn't nudged parts be ok?

  • Flyweight - Oceanview Speedway 8.8 years ago

@AndrewGarrison I just want to make sure but. XML modded wings are fine unless they have more fuel than they should right?

  • Flyweight - Oceanview Speedway 8.8 years ago

@InterStellarENT it shows you things like drag points. wing load. loaded and non loaded weight and the important things you could only see after uploading before hand.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr no that just means your plane is not entered in that tournament in the first place.

  • P-58 Needler 8.8 years ago

@TehNewDucky well the prop trick is simple. you put 2 fuel tanks in front of each other. put your camera inside the front one and then open the propulsion tab and place an engine inside. Once you do that you can pull the fuel tank the engine is inside of and move it around and save it in a sub assembly for use such as this plane uses.

  • P-58 Needler 8.8 years ago

@TehNewDucky not really. I checked your profile and unless you're uploading other users' planes You really don't seem all that bad.

  • P-58 Needler 8.8 years ago

@TehNewDucky you don't seem all that bad to me.

  • P-58 Needler 8.8 years ago

@TehNewDucky nothing too special. every one really does that :P

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@AgDynamics I'm more or less looking at the completion time not the actual speed.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr the most recent one I have uploaded :3

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

Well I think I've hit the best plane I can get. can't get any thing to go any faster.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@SpiritusRaptor you can't get 900mph unless you're using old prop engines.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@NovaTopaz how many times must I say ASK A DEV WHO IS RUNNING THIS.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

    @NovaTopaz ask
    a
    dev

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@NovaTopaz it genneralizes it in this post. go ask a dev if you can.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

    @BaconAircrafts "No xml modding allowed"

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Quintasoarus well the hard part is prop planes hit an upper limit on their speed.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Quintasoarus what makes you think that's a bad time?

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Yottabyte1024 there are a set of basic tournametn rules. weapons fall under thes. not that they matter. AI doesn't use them and they add weight and drag.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@ViperGByt its pysically impossible to get 1:30 on a plane. you can only go about 730-740mph max and even then you lose some speed in turning altitude changing and such.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Viper28 except there isn't any drag increace. Its litterally placing T1ks prop engines with maxed stats (aside prop thickness) inside undisturbed fuel tanks and redesigning the wings to compensate.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Viper28 only reason I"m going with 2 is because I haven't been able to get something with 3 (or more) that actually performs better than what i got.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@rggaming1 I tried making a 3 engine design out of that. with out changing the wings the third engine can't be large enough to make a difference (in fact it makes it worse) and then I made a second design which used 4 engines (same body just 2 of the small engines on the inside) and new wings but It wasn't as reliable and it was pretty much the exact same in terms of speed. so I've just stuck with that.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr probably AI being a doof. it happens.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@rggaming1 yea that's what I was going for with it. high maneuverability. and minimum drag using 2 of those engines.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@rggaming1 I've tested it against like 13 designs. on both sides. it crashed 1 time due to lag in the 50 races.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr which for me it isn't. it doesn't even come close to missing with my tests is the problem :/

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr then I don't know. because I know as a fact that thing is maneuverable. there are others that are more but that thing can turn in a very tight circle and has a very good roll rate. the only problem it has is the rudder is a bit weak so when stopping a roll it does have a bit of a wobble. but its essentially nothing.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr does your system lag a bit? does it ever slow down? is the fps low? because like i said that thing can maneuver till the end of time. that's why it has the doubled up wings so it can do that.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr lack of maneuverability? What the heck device are you playing on? that plane is perfectly maneuverable. it could complete shark tooth.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr it misses? misses what? I've tested it a lot its 99.9% reliable only crashing one time due to lag out of like 50 test trials vs random planes I tested against that were entering this.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr only 1:45? well ok then my plane is more competitive than I had thought. 1:49.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr THe most recent One I have uploaded. its not going to win but against some test subjects it has a very competitive time.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr I've still lost any ways. I just hope I don't see a plane like yours for at least the first 3 rounds. I've worked hard on my entry.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr ok well I've lost... how do you even get it down to 67 drag points?

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr careful. too much maneuverability means you could be losing too much speed in a turn.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Thefalloutplayr the only problem is simple planes doesn't model prop efficiency all that correctly. so in turn the more propellers you have pulling your weight through the air. the better no matter what.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@rggaming1 if its only very minor that's just the fact that every run with the AI isn't going to be identical.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@rggaming1 the difference is how they function. new propeller engines work more properly they have to deal with pitch control, engine RPM and other factors like real prop engines. the old engines were essentially weak jet engines. because they just gave power whenever you put the throttle. ti'd just do it. and it dind't have an uppermost limit on the top speed so stack enough engines you're going to be going 1000mph on propellers.

and to get them at this point you need to find a vehicle that has one of them equipped and then rip it off that plane and save it in a subassembly.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@bspboy well you have to realize were talking more than 1 or 2 engines here. were talking like engine stacks. if you look at the winner of the last tournament how many engines that thing has. also the styles don't change any thing only the look.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@ViperGByt well 730-750. the max speed of current props are within that range. old props don't seem to have a limit not to mention they don't properly work like htese props. they act more like jet engines in they just give thrust right then and there where as current props have to deal with pitch control and engine RPM management (which is automatic now)

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@ViperGByt no trsut me if you know what you're doing its bad. person using the old prop engines in the last tournament had a plane going over 900mph while current props top out at about 730mph. and you can't get any higher top speed no matter what you do.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@bspboy yea you could. just be carefull. they're warning that putting those small props inside the machine has been leading to random exploding.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@bspboy tested it. it loses too much speed while turning.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Quintasoarus yea you can't have more than 1 body line. too much drag. however adding a few T1Ks inside some fuel tanks help with that acceleration aspect but not so much with holding the speed.(like the T3Ks can). its basically finding a balance between drag. engine power. and how well can your design hold speed through its turns and such.

  • awsome craft 8.8 years ago

uh... what's the point of this? it's just the stock twin prop in the game.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Quintasoarus well there's drag as well but low drag alone ins't going to win. you're going to need like a few engines on your planes. because if you don't you're not going to hold the 730mph mark in turns or accelerate back to it out of turns. or holding it in any kind of climb and such. low drag is good but you need more power as well.

  • Trench Run 8.8 years ago

@Quintasoarus you won't get any lower than that. props have an upper speed limit of about 730 mph. all you can do is make your plaen hold and gain inital speed better. so shaving that much time off wont happen.

  • Ahtzee's Trench Challenger 8.8 years ago

its a very nice design. however. I will have to put a bit of critisizimg on you. you're using 3 body semgents to hold 2 engines and a middle cockpit body. astetics wise this thing is great. as for funciontallity well you ahve a lot more weight and drag than you need for how many engines you put on there.

  • P-56 MK-TR 8.8 years ago

@Shmexysmpilot Figured you'd like to see it ;) can't wait to see your entry :p
