@Wahoo12 I'm trying to actually make plans that are usable in tournaments. and if mods are allowed at that point I'm just going to use a modded super engine. so using stock parts or with out vtol modded parts.
@Wahoo12 there's no setting to adjust how far the vectoring can go. I'd have to get the spinner on it and that's quite a setup for something that looks bad on the plane.
@Hadesrocks so what I should be making teh rear wings smaller? seems a bit counter productive. any time I make an elevator smaller or the wing I seem to lose maneuverability.
@Wahoo12 I've actually tried that On a new plane I was building. And while it does help. it is unstable (for AI) and it doesn't have enough of an effect.
@Hadesrocks inverted forward elevator's do help but most of the time the AI is dumb when using them. an even then. after I re balance it out after adding it. its still just not enough.
@Wahoo12 I understand what you're saying but I do have jets that have a 3.0 thrust to weight and its very light weight. its maneuverable but not enough to do what it needs to. Just look at my needle nose. that thing is very maneuverable. and very high thrust to weight. but I can't do much for it. the base MK:1 model if I make the elevators any larger it is extremely unstable. in other cases. making larger elevators doesn't even help. Let me put it simply. thrust to weight is not an issue. stability is not an issue. making it half good at maneuvering is good. making it able to do hair pin turns like I see other people do? how?
@salvador3031 check my most recent post. took the kicking fish. shoved a modded engine on it. put one infinite fuel tank in it. and now it can complete ocean view speed way reliably and fast enough that it might have won the tournament had I put it in.
@salvador3031 well that's alright I don't really care too much for hte other planes I currently have uploaded. they're mostly just the ones where I took the stock P-51 and put jets on it.
@JetstreamAeroEngineering well A: I"ve already lost this competition B: you must be really good and C: you must have fine tuned your design specifically for the AI
@salvador3031 So I fixed it. you're going to want to keep it avove about 320 in the air. on the ground you'll want to keep it no higher than 80 on smooth terain. and on the water you can blast the throttle just becarefull you don't lift off with the new wing additions. Do not use Yaw in the air. it is extremly powerfull.
@salvador3031 shark tooth: plane not as manuverable as the AI would like so it doesn't avoid the rock inbetween it and the check point.
Trench run: plenty of turns being apprached at the wrong angle
Bandit pass: same thing
Dare devil is the only map I can say is almost free of this issue Only having it 1 ever like 20 tries on a few check points and hten the bride ones every so often being the worst but easily avoidable.
I want these tournamates but hte AI needs to be improved if they are going to mean any thing in the future.
@salvador3031 that's not what I"m saying. what I"m saying is the AI is putting it into the ground not me. I could easily make the turn (not really I suck at flying my self but i could make it) but the AI just dives it into the ground. and there are a lot of other examples where the AI has holes in it.
@salvador3031 yea but at the same time I have yet to make a design that is nicely fast and maneuverable that can take checkpoint 12 on that map with the AI.
@JetstreamAeroEngineering that's easier said than done because if you're in a race you want more speed. and that turn isn't hard if you do it right. the AI just tries to dive DOWNWARDS 90% of the time on most designs instead of coming at it low like it should. and in turn you're going to need a slow design with good turning to win this.
Pretty nice design. I like it. but in comparison to other vehicles I"ve seein in this challenge. its both less visually pleasing and less in air responcive and slow.
You know this can be a water take off plane. just set the body peice to have 100% boyancy and it can land and take off in water. simple solution to the no landing problem.

@salvador3031
@salvador3031
@salvador3031
@salvador3031 this is for that "active challenge" btw.
I'm pretty sure It could be a lot better if you only had 2 of each missile type. too much weight there.
@salvador3031
@salvador3031 Well It;ll be a while before I can submit for that challenge. I maxed out my planes I can submit for hte day :P
@salvador3031 I see a lot of challenges So I Don't know exactly which one you're talking about.
@salvador3031 sure show me it. I have a few things I can put together. (or at least try)
QUite a nice variation, nicely stylized. good speed. the only Problem I can think of is that it seems to have a tendancy to spin out.
@salvador3031 well that's alright I don't really care too much for hte other planes I currently have uploaded. they're mostly just the ones where I took the stock P-51 and put jets on it.

@salvador3031
@JetstreamAeroEngineering Well again I"ve already lost this. the best thing I have to win this can't even come close to competing with that.
@JetstreamAeroEngineering well A: I"ve already lost this competition B: you must be really good and C: you must have fine tuned your design specifically for the AI
@JetstreamAeroEngineering you have a plane that can go 1000mph and then have hte AI make the turn at check point 12 on that map?
@salvador3031 So I fixed it. you're going to want to keep it avove about 320 in the air. on the ground you'll want to keep it no higher than 80 on smooth terain. and on the water you can blast the throttle just becarefull you don't lift off with the new wing additions. @salvador3031 the RR?
@salvador3031 That jet powered boat already can roam around on land. that was my main feature. it was a land rover and a boat.
Well I could have an entrant very soon. I already have 2 jet powered boats. nothing much to put some wings on them.

@salvador3031 yea but at the same time I have yet to make a design that is nicely fast and maneuverable that can take checkpoint 12 on that map with the AI.
@salvador3031 My design is very solid. the problem is the AI decides to take a point high and then turn into the ground like an idiot.
@salvador3031 small turn radius is kinda a hard balance. especially when you need speed to get past the more straight parts easy.
@JetstreamAeroEngineering that's easier said than done because if you're in a race you want more speed. and that turn isn't hard if you do it right. the AI just tries to dive DOWNWARDS 90% of the time on most designs instead of coming at it low like it should. and in turn you're going to need a slow design with good turning to win this.
how do we submit?
@Bobjoezonehill So far as I know. the largest jet. and hte 2 square ones have this. and other's are saying about other parts not working as well.
I must say I was suprised by how well this thing performed.
Pretty nice design. I like it. but in comparison to other vehicles I"ve seein in this challenge. its both less visually pleasing and less in air responcive and slow.
