    I suppose it is quite possible to make a smaller plane. Mostly in terms of length though.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @Viperfox
    As I said, most likely half the planes will crash before the finish. Fast and reliable planes are generally a minority. Don't worry too much about it.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @Viperfox
    My plane doesn't need to be stable. It just needs to reach the finish with a good time and do so reliably.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @Viperfox
    One out of many reasons why I made a small plane, less chances of colliding with something.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @Viperfox
    Oh don't worry, at least half of the planes will crash before they reach the finish.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @Typhlosion130
    Well, but my old bad planes tended to be consistent in how bad they were.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    It somewhat surprises me that I am seemingly part of a small minority whose planes always complete the course in almost the same amount of time.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @SuperSanic
    Using mass scale is never allowed outside mod class tournaments.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @OverlordAeronautics2
    Structural wings modded so they can have control surfaces are always allowed.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @EarthwormJim
    Alienbeef0421 his plane has only 25 drag.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    Well, I finally uploaded my plane, after seeing a dozen of faster versions of my plane failing to complete the course in a shorter amount of time. I hope that a reliable 2:11 is enough to win this tournament.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @Zardos
    So, does your plane complete the course in 2:11 or 2:10?

  • Ultra-efficient High-speed plane 7.8 years ago

    @theflyinghillbilly
    When calculating an average you should divide by the amount of numbers you are calculating the average of. So you should divide by three in this case.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @Tully2001
    Actually, I have a plane that does 2:11 on average. And I have seen a 2:12 plane posted by someone else. And I think it is possible to make a faster plane than mine.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @Tully2001
    His plane is not nearly fast enough to get 2:10 as a time.

  • Ultra-efficient High-speed plane 7.8 years ago

    I let your plane fly 3 runs through the course. I got 2:30, 2:28 and 2:29 as times. Resulting in an average of 2:29. Dare I ask how you calculate averages? @theflyinghillbilly

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @theflyinghillbilly
    You must have miscalculated, 2:00 is impossible without jet engines.

  • Problem with scailing a build. Help plz 7.8 years ago

    You shouldn't use -1 if you want to down scale. Using 0.5 instead should half the size of stuff.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @Alienbeef0421
    My control surfaces are most certainly 'somewhat' big. But, my plane doesn't need to be able to make proper loops, probably.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @Alienbeef0421
    No flatspin, just a bit of roll. Probably a side effect of never testing how my plane performs in human hands.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @Alienbeef0421
    Seems like your plane is about 2mph faster than mine. Also, my plane seems incapable of making a straight looping. D: But I suppose I do have the advantage that after dozens of tests on both starts, my plane hasn't crashed a single time.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @MAHADI
    This is a prop class tournament, not a mod class tournament. As you can read on the top of the page. You can get a more detailed answer by clicking on the blue 'Tournament Guide here' at the bottom of the tournament details.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @Alienbeef0421
    Top speed isn't the only factor deciding how fast your plane completes the course. How much speed a plane loses in corners and whether it actually gets through the course alive are also quite relevant factors.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @f1racing6
    With the AI flying, and conforming to the rules of this tournament, I think that either 2:10 or 2:09 is the best possible time. The best time achieved so far is 2:11. I'm going to be quite impressed if anyone manages to make a plane that reliably completes the course in 2:10.

  • rocketeer V2 7.8 years ago

    @marcox43
    I let it fly 5 times from the left start. It crashed in the ground twice and the other three times it completed the race in 2:12. I also let it fly 2 times against my plane, resulting in two collisions in the air. No engine explosions on either start during my tests.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    Oh don't worry, my plane takes 2:12 to complete the race at the moment. 2:11 is the time I was aiming for, but apparently I'll need to get it down to 2:10, somehow...

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @pilot186
    You have 2 options, unscale those engines or remove them. Otherwise your plane won't be able to participate in the tournament.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @pilot186
    Down scaling the size of parts can reduce the drag of an airplane and thus can help a plane win a tournament.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @pilot186
    The rules are rather clear on using the part scale attribute, it isn't allowed.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @KiNo
    Please don't. I'm happily convincing myself that my plane is perfect and that my victory is certain. I might never survive the trauma of losing by a whole second or more. D:

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @RealQcan
    Nudging is always allowed.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @RealQcan
    Scaling is not allowed in this tournament.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @KiNo as long as it isn't 2:11. :P

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    @KiNo So, in what time does your 30 minutes plane complete the course?

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    I got 2:13 on a slightly modified version of what was originally supposed to be my entry for the Indy air race, so I suppose that 2:14 wouldn't be too much slower than the time the winner will have.

  • Typhoon Circuit 7.8 years ago

    I have finally recovered from my Seppuku, I will not fail you all again. This time I'll defeat the evil penta(?) champion KiNo, or I will die trying.

  • Indy Air Race and hugging the ground. 8.0 years ago

    @UnknownNate I actually tried that, not only did I lose a lot of vertical stability, it also barely reduced the downward drift...

  • Indy Air Race 8.1 years ago

    @Johndfg Unfortunately, my plane is currently more likely to crash or miss 1 or 2 checkpoints than to complete the race in 31 seconds, also I might need to revert to an older version due to random engine explosions. I think I'll wait a little longer before uploading anything until I have a slightly more reliable version.

  • Indy Air Race 8.1 years ago

    @AndrewGarrison Is it allowed to disable collisions on your engines?

  • Indy Air Race 8.1 years ago

    I'll subtly mention that my plane has managed to complete the course in 31 seconds. And forget to mention that my plane occasionally randomly crashes etc.

  • Hot Bandito 8.3 years ago

    Roses are red,
    My plane was green,
    Your plane exploded once,
    But your superior aerodynamics won in the end.

    Sorry I can't rhyme, good luck in the rest of the tournament.
