@Cedy117 can you recommend any guides or tutorials for how to create the detailed cockpits you make? Is it primarily XML editing or are you able to do this in the editor somehow? Really impressed again by your work on this plane, instant classic!
@PhilipTarpley that's great to hear about TrackIR. With all the amazing planes and detailed cockpits & interiors being produced these days, it would be wonderful to have. It truly makes flight sims into something incredible.
@PhilipTarpley can I buy you guys a TrackIR so you can work on supporting it for the Steam version? I love the new camera controls but they would be even better with TrackIR.
Really nice work! One thing: for balance reasons, you solo the J-3 from the back seat, not the front seat. So technically, the cockpit piece should be in the back and the auxiliary camera in the front.
@Baldovino yes, I've been building, flying and designing R/C planes for years and even have one open source aerobatic glider design that has enjoyed modest worldwide popularity. I know how to make a plane fly well, I'm just trying to better learn the SP editor to figure out to make more complex / fully fleshed out aircraft. Anyways congrats on your success :)
I like your approach to building without the use of XML editing (not that I feel strongly against XML editing, I just think it's good to learn the limits of the standard designer first).
Have you been following any guides or tutorials? Or, put another way, what have you been using to help learn the techniques to make more advanced shapes?
I've had SimplePlanes just a few days and am already totally addicted to building planes, but am finding myself limited by my lack of understanding about how to do execute more advanced techniques. Any suggestions or tips would be most welcome. TY!
@Cedy117 as a new SP player, I'm going to remember this plane as the watershed moment when I realized the amazing things possible in this game. Congrats, this is incredible.
I like it! I am a big SPAD fan and this one flies very nice. One quibble: the SPAD VII was armed with only one gun (although a few were modded to have two). The SPAD XIII, its successor, was armed with two guns. Great job on your plane and thanks for making it!
@DeezDucks they're quite fun - you can grab the Stork from my page if you like. It's the one used in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESELP6gs-Cw
@DeezDucks based on my estimated average speed of ~83mph and the elapsed time of about 8 minutes from "takeoff" to touchdown, I believe the distance traveled is about 11 miles via the route in the video. After turning, my starting height was approximately 3800ft and the altitude of the spot I wound up was about 600ft, for 3200ft lost on the way. This winds up being about an 18:1 glide ratio (which is pretty modest - IRL modern gliders can do 50:1 and better).
@ValtsuAircraftIndustries did not realize that there were different names depending on OS. In any event, the video shows the locations selected. Give it a go, it's pretty fun.
Dogfighting, racing... I can think of a lot of really fun multiplayer use case scenarios. I know MP is hard, but if there's any way it can be added, it would be amazing!

Love it!
Very cool! And highly fuel efficient, it stayed at 100% fuel the whole time ;)
What was that minimap I saw? A mod? Very cool.
This thing is crazy! Great job.
@ValtsuAircraftIndustries it's really not that hard with a decent glider. You just have to be smooooth :)

Sounds fun to me, I'm in!
@Baldovino cool, I will dig around. Thank you again and congratulations!

Awesome!!

I like it! Nice work. Cool to see WWI planes given the SimplePlanes treatment.

It's not very hard at all with a decent glider ;-) I will post a Youtube video later.
@Benny332D2003 your planes are very nice!

That's OK! It will be amazing when it happens.
