Rest in Peace to B-17 "Texas Raiders" and the P-63

72.7k Strikefighter04  2.0 years ago

I don't know if you guys heard about this or not, but yesterday at the Wings Over Dallas Air Show, the last P-63 and B-17 "Texas Raiders" collided mid-air, which resulted in the destruction of both aircraft and the death of all crews which was 6. The collision was a complete accident, "Texas Raiders" was in the P-63's blind spot under the belly.

Rest In Peace to the aircraft and those who died. Pray for their families that they may be comforted.

My prayers for the families and friends of those lost.

Not only have we lost six (possibly seven, it's still unclear exactly how many were aboard Texas Raiders) valiant aircrew, we've also lost two extraordinarily historic aircraft. Texas Raiders had the fifth most operational time in military service out of all 12,731 B-17s built, and Kingcobra N6763 was both one of only three flying P-63s in the world and the sole surviving P-63F out of the two built. The P-63F model is now extinct, and there will no doubt be significant repercussions into the remainder of airworthy B-17s around the world, especially as this came so soon after the Nine-O-Nine crash.

i feel bad for the pilots and the loss of such historic planes here is what i think happened in the tight turn the P-63 Pilot blacked out which was fatal due to the distance.
I know random and late but wtf matter
The crazy part was those planes were at the Wings Over Houston Airshow i never knew in a couple days the very same planes I watched would meet a horrific end.

And yet while all this goes on there are those who are so morally bankrupt that they have to make disgusting jokes about this tragedy just to grab at that sweet, sweet internet clout.

I saw this yesterday and just cant believe it, I do understand that the P-63 is hard to see out of(I've sat in one) and the B-17 obviously wouldn't have gunners to see right then but, yeah... RIP.

I had no idea there were any members of the P-39 family that were airworthy.
Shame one is now forever gone, along with the B-17.
An even more massive shame that lives were lost....

Rest in peace to all involved. It's a shame that so many good people, doing what they loved, had to lose their lives.
