The Avro Lancaster

The Avro Lancaster, commonly known as the Lancaster Bomber, is a British Second World War heavy bomber. It was designed and manufactured by Avro as a contemporary of the Handley Page Halifax, both bombers having been developed to the same specification, as well as the Short Stirling, all three aircraft being four-engined heavy bombers adopted by the Royal Air Force (RAF) during the same era.

How to fly

Activate 1- Open main door

Activate 2- Strobe lights

Activate 3- Formation lights

Activate 4- flight stabilizer

Activate 5- OPEN BOMB BAY/ ACTIVATE BOMBS/ ACTIVE BOMB LIGHTS

The Lancaster could carry a massive variety of bombs thanks to it's large bomb bay, which is why it was later modified to carry the "tall boy" bombs and even the rolling bombs for the dam buster missions.

There were 2 bomb lights on one of the wings, designed to show 2 circles of light on the ground, once they overlapped these let the bomb aimer know the altitude of the aircraft and where the bombs would go

Activate 6- N/A

Activate 7- Emergency Exits

The Lancaster had 4 escape hatches built in

Activate 8- All turrets/ main power

The original Lancasters had a Ventral turret operated by a periscope, this was removed later on because it was deemed ineffective and heavy. The space was later used for new radar systems

The mid section, on the top you can see the FN-50 Dorsal turret, commonly referred to by the crews as "Ted church". Underneath you can see the periscope and controls of the FN-64 Ventral turret, which was replaced in later models of the bomber by early radar systems.

The toilet area, behind which is the FN-120 tail gun, known by crews as "tail end charlie". This position was the loneliest on the plane and crew often suffered freezing temperatures that led to frostbite.

@StraitAircraft hi and thanks, I appreciate the words. I always try to make my builds stand out in some way but it can be hard with oversaturated markets such as this, however I'm glad you like it and the interior too, it took me way too long to research the stations and model them in 😁

@Jamawi hi, I just wanted to comment afew things.
This might just be the best lancaster out there tbh.
But the lancaster market is quite full so uour build is quite hard to stand out in such popular aircraft.
(Example: hundreds of F15s and 737s have been made over the years)

It's still an amazing aircraft with perhaps the best interior I've ever seen

@NTH funny thing is I built and tested it on mobile 🤣
I wanted it to have a realistic damage model which includes a full skeleton and separate fuselage panels but that of course came at the cost of performance.

@Jamawi I agree with WCAC2, it’s quite a nice aircraft and there aren’t that many detailed models of it, Buuut, it needs loads of optimization to be downloadable on mobile😄
