@Stingray Future fighter jets won't have to rely on their own fuel, they won't even need conventional engines. The planes normally used for refueling will be sufficient to create the power for a whole squadron and transfer it to the fighters via quantum-tunnelling! :D
@Baldovino I really appreciate all the hard work that you always put into finishing the race in the shortest time. I hope you won't be too mad at me if our planes get into a match against each other. I already made sure your plane will look fantastic when mine overtakes it.

@Baldovino This is not reality, so this is normal and functional in the games manner. :D But normal isn't something spectacular, it's something any designer could do. A good designer wouldn't do only "normal" things. :) Actually the power could be transferred via quantum-tunneling (maybe we'll really see this in some decades). @Pauciloquent ~900 MPH seems to be the maximum on this course to stay somewhat controllable for the AI, I'm at 850 with one Blasto J50 and two VTOL-engines. :) I was at 900 MPH before, but I sacrificed some speed for other modifications I've done to the design.
@Baldovino Unlimited means you can use any mechanic the vanilla game offers you. Actually it even is the point of an unlimited class. :D This is not a mod in any way and everyone can do it.
Thinking out of the box to have an advantage is not unfair, it's a part of beeing a good designer.

@Delphinus I use a similar design and I have spent a lot of time to optimize it, so it will stay in the air the entire time my plane needs to finish the course, though that isn't even needed I guess.

@iDrakeZz I have an idea for additional rocket boosters made out of missiles on the sides where the RATOs sit on the real one. Right now they increase drag too much and greatly reduce maximum speed, also they explode quite often. :D Maybe we'll have rocket boosters in the next update, that would make it easier.
@Skua I don't want to blend the intakes into the body, they also stand off on the real plane. I've made the outside corners of them a bit more round and also made the intakes a tiny bit wider. :D I'm still trying to find a way to make the more bulky "extensions" of the fuselage to the left and right, they have to blend into the center fuselage very smoothly.
@DeezDucks I hope so. :D Are 1700 MPH without wheels and with one modded BFE120 at 3x power, one modded Blasto VTOL at 8x power and another one at 12x power something for a ground speed record? :D I have the rotator system for the canards pretty much done now, I just have to nudge them into the fuselage after I am done with the rest. One is for 5° of pitch trim (activated with AG4), one is for 15° pitch angle (always on) and one is 60° for the brake (activated with AG3). Next will be the fuselage pieces that bulge out of the main fuselage and lead into the wings. I'll also make them out of 45° angled pieces. Then the main wings and fuselage pieces over them to give them a more realistic shape, landing gear, air brakes in the back and then it's ready for some test flights. After that I'll make the pylons and the main gun, some details on the plane and the whole set of available bombs, Air-to-Ground- + Air-to-Air-missiles, external fuel tanks and the AN/AAQ-28(V) LITENING II targeting pod. :)
@DogOfWisdom How can anyone decide between all of those? They all would be bad presidents. Americans should rush into the white house and run everything themselves. :D
@A5mod3us Every plane that manages to get through the course in less than 2 minutes does that sometimes. I've also got an old prop racer that never crashes and does it in ~3:30, but I've got something way faster and almost as reliable. :D

@A5mod3us Even my best plane crashes from time to time, when the AI takes a very strange course right to the ground. You can drastically increase reliability on Bandit Run just by adjusting the CoM a few inches, so it's really about the fine tuning. :) It's not about completing every run without failures, it's about beeing very fast and failing just a very few times.
@ShatterFox I'm still not fully happy with it. I may add some very thin fuselage pieces at 45° angle to the outside corners, so they look more smooth like on the real one. :D

@FrogmasterAereonautics No, they are not too short, they are too narrow. The real one has wider wings and wider elevators. :D Also the main wings are a bit shorter, they don't reach that far into the back.

It's really hard to get the intakes right. I've been XML-editing the pieces for hours now and I am still not really satisfied with the result.
