@AndrewGarrison In the last tournament there was no option to enter the planes that had predecessors (my own ones), they were just missing in the list I could choose from, so I had to go into the XML and delete the URL, then upload again. Though that's not a big deal, it would be cool if that gets fixed in the upcoming tournaments. :) I'll probably go into this one aswell, though I'm not a fan of prop racers. Haha! Not a fan of prop racers, get it? :D
Does anyone know a good free or cheap screen recording tool? Plays.tv is using 1-2 GB for just 8 minutes of 1080p video. The quality isn't that good and it takes awfully long to upload. Doesn't need to be something professional, just simple tools for cutting, good video quality and low video filesize. :)
@AgDynamics 0:34!!! But it took me like 10 tries to miss no single ring. Also the speed on the track is way lower at only around 2500 MPH. :D 16x stock VTOL-engines + 2 VTOL-nozzles (adjusted to maximum angle of 30° up and down) + 495 gallons of fuel.
@AgDynamics Alright. If my plans work, I've just got an umodded plane (just the maximum angle of the VTOL nozzles changed) that will blow anything out of the water. Just need to get 2700-3000 MPH through the course. Handling is superb so far. I also found another trick. Less nozzles = more performance. As you can see, I get almost 1000 MPH more speed just by removing all nozzles except for two. :D Sadly the launchpad wouldn't fit in a 20 x 20 square for the tournaments, gotta work on making it smaller.
@salvador3031 Everyone would have a chance with an AI that wouldn't always push the planes harder than needed and make less mistakes. No matter if modded or not. :D
@PhilipTarpley What blood? I am obviously a robot! :D Maybe I could send you some oil, if that helps.
@PhilipTarpley Video of the Frontliner-C XR-1.1-GL 2000+ is now ready. :D It was 0:37 again. This wouldn't be possible without your improved input-system, which now allows for way smoother inputs.
@PhilipTarpley I am currently working on my fixed XR-1.1. One version also comes with a launchpad with detacher-launching and now it has a working external VTOL-engine, which is automatically dropped at start/is attached to the launchpad. Just one, because 2, 3 and 4 of them resulted in breaking the physics. The VTOL-engine in the fuselage stayed, so a total of two VTOL-engines, both at x8 power. 2200-2300 MPH without any misses is quite a struggle, but I finished one round at 0:37 with no effective misses. The AI always crashes it. Sadly I have to upload another video of it, as this damn plays.tv didn't record the end. :/ Will probably take some minutes.
@AndrewGarrison Thanks! The trick is just to bring the ring into the center of the monitor and flying a curve leading directly to the next ring. Also just making small and smooth inputs. If the AI could do that, it could beat any human through it's reaction time. Also it should be programmable to handle each aircraft's own features with the VTOL-input and activation groups. It's a pretty impressive AI already, but of course not perfect. :)
@Skua Thanks! :D Lots of missile evading in DCS World with the Su-27 and F-15C have tought me that. Basically you're flying a similar course through the mountains at similar speeds then. Do the mentions in the post actually work, or do I have to mention everyone in the comments?
@Seeras Do you know someone who can make a nice cockpit for it? I don't know how to make the gauges work and I am also not very good at positioning these small things. :D
@Seeras I'm working on a huge MiG-21 with real propellers as turbine blades, but I am not too good at making things scale, it needs much time and patience. :D
@AgDynamics I am still noticing this issue. Hope we will get the new update soon. Atleast a small one with a fix for that. It's a struggle to make your plane fly over and over again until you find a round where nothing counts as missed.
@AaronSonAirCrafts I guess that isn't the only server problem. The way Andrew wrote the message it looks like they're currently working on it and will probably have it fixed soon, but I can't say for sure.
@CodyS You have to know how the AI flies planes to make good planes for the AI. :D It takes some time. The AI needs the plane to roll to the right angle first (in which it wants to turn) and then pull up to that angle, that's how it moves. So roll always has to be slightly faster than pitch. The bigger the difference, the more stable the flight (but also less agile). :)
@CodyS My entry is the Frontliner-C XR-1, you'll see it in the air. :) And also for download afterwards. Take my XF-3-2 as reference and add around 50% more performance to it. :D
@AaronSonAirCrafts It's still one hour to go, so chill out. Livestream starts at 10am CST, it's 9:16am CST right now. :) @Jackie I guess there are just too many uploads and edits and comments or maybe some of the servers don't work right.
@Jackie @CodyS The servers seem to struggle a bit. I've been noticing that for around 3 days now. Sometimes the "Newest" section is available, sometimes not.
@Halfstrike I've made some minor adjustments to the cockpit position for better accuracy, but I think I won't upload another hotfix. It's just a very minor change and shouldn't improve too much. Definitely some tough competition around here, I tried most of them out. :D And my plane survives many first shots, just one propeller stops, which doesn't decrease performance that much, it even increases turning speed a bit. Bigger caliber and bullet weight would change that. :D
@bjac0 I just thought he might want to know that someone has copied his plane. I would always recommend asking the creator before doing so and also mentioning him in the description. :)
@Baldovino You just need a plane design that doesn't lose too much speed when fully maneuvering, make it turn like crazy and then give it a massive amount of thrust. XML editing also increases the time needed to reach maximum thrust, making it hard to balance between low speed and high speed maneuverability. Even with XML-editing more engines still do a better job than just one. It's alot about trial and error and fiddling around with small details.
@Baldovino I've built one, but it always fails on the last 30m of the Eagle Pass course. :/ Deltawing design, all wing parts beeing flat-bottom, small fuselage, not much fuel, just one Blasto J15 and it still doesn't fully make it. It looks a little bit like a micro-F-35. :D
@AgDynamics @PhilipTarpley Now beat this! :D

@goboygo1 Like one step higher on the adjustment bar. :D

@goboygo1 It's also like that in Minecraft, so the huge difference in color shades is actually accurate for the replica. :)

@AgDynamics Keeping it as simple and standard as possible? Low pitch rates? :D

And also breaking the game physics with my Frontliner-C XR-1 + 5 VTOL-engines at x8 power :D

Just gotta love those russian fighters :D
@AgDynamics Really not a problem to fly it manually. I've had worse. :D
It keeps crashing into the water for me. I think it's ring 14.

@Halfstrike I made a Hotfixfix version now. Also noticed it crashing, but only after upload. Maybe I missed to save all changes before uploading.
The stream just went live on their Twitch Account! :)
@AaronSonAirCrafts Obviously on his profile :D

@JetstreamAeroEngineering It deserves a finer paintjob I think. :D

@CodyS America is in several different time zones. Watch here, that's CST! :)
@Jackie I'm pretty sure they'll have this sorted out in less than a week. This is not EA, Jundroo seems to have some talented coders. :D

@Halfstrike Props broke? At startup? They never did this in several rounds I've tested the fixed version. :/

@Halfstrike Hope I'm not too late! :D
@JetstreamAeroEngineering I thought of the A7 first, but then I read that it's not what it seems to be and then I thought it might be a harrier. :D
Physics say "no", but very cool design! :)

Does it have to be designed like a glider, with long wings and all that?
Modded engines allowed? How do you rate them? Just by speed?
@salvador3031 It's old again. My XR-1 beats it to the ground, but I will only make it public after the racing tournament. :D
@salvador3031 you forgot this :)
@salvador3031 Never mind, I've read the description of the challenge again. :D
