@MrSilverWolf Thanks! The swastikas look a bit uneven when zoomed in close, just a weird anomaly with nudging the parts in. If I did it over again I'd assemble the swastikas first then drop them on the roundel so they would all nudge in to the same depth without disappearing into the base roundel.
@Dredex One of our allies in the RP posted an axis-Finland roundel already, here it is. Mine never seem to stay together when I take them off of aircraft.
Edit: I just created some double sided insignia for wing/tail placements of both varieties, you can find them here.
@Supermini555 Yep, I knew what this build was for. (I was checking out my allies' planes!) The plane I uploaded most recently is for the same RP and she's about 100 mph slower with the same power plants. lol
@MisterMasada Oh, I admit that there are definite exceptions! In many cases though the voice actor is not able to catch subtle voice inflections that contribute to the mood and/or whether the character is serious in what he or she is saying. Perhaps this is such an exception?
@Supermini555 I went ahead and DL'd this bird to give her a test flight and I tell you, my friend, you underestimated this fighter!! At 26,000 feet, with the wings fully swept back and in a shallow climb I reached 1,130 mph! It was hard to get her on a flat trajectory as she either wanted to nose up or nose down slightly. At around 30,000 feet her nose wants to pitch down and her maximum speed tapers off a bit in level flight - but still over 1,000 mph. Good work on this though, I'd forgotten that Nazi Germany experimented with variable geometry wings!
@General360 Gotcha, so basically speaking Finland is still focusing on the Soviet remnants that refuse to surrender for fear that they will make a comeback with allied aid - while still watching their backs against events to the West.
@IStoleYourMeme Ah! The concept of using a nuclear detonation to propel spacecraft forward, if I'm not mistaken? That'll be hard in SPs. I've never seen turbulence from an explosion - either you're caught in the blast or not. Further, guns don't have recoil either so there's something missing from the physics in the game. Same could be said of weather, I've never run into prevailing winds, wind gusts, wind sheer, tail winds, head winds let alone the jet stream.
@General360 Oh ... Well then! Where can I find the chronicals of the outcomes of the various campaigns? The USSR is still listed for builders - even in the most recent post ... ?
@SimpleTechAndResearch What do you mean Russia has already fallen? I know you are representing Germany in the RP but has @General360 stated that the Soviet Union fell to the Axis powers?
@Pilotmario Originally I was going to build for a foreign power which is why I was interested in the Sanctans. Although once this WW2 Alternate RP is done I could create a home grown power on the same continent as the Teutonics. These will not be of the DragA brand but will somehow be a twist on a historic power. I figured it'd be best to understand the remants of that Empire before I put serious thought/consideration into it.
@TheOwlAce Well, it wasn't a horsepower thing! lol She's just so cute and little it couldn't help it! XD I gave her some angled armor around the turret, made the gunner's hatch a bit more pronounced, nudged in an emergency escape hatch underneath, rearranged the weight and in the end wound up with almost your' exact same weight but without the propensity to flip. I also fiddled with the mantlet so it covered up that hinge joint.I think a radio box at the back of the turret would be a good addition though and you've got those uneven areas at the fore and aft of the hull. I could mod some pieces to fit that spot though I think. I noticed that you didn't adjust the traction or give the wheels internal suspension? (If you don't know how, click on the wheel, scroll down and first is traction and it should say Auto next to it. Click on Auto and it'll give you the option to go above 100% - I always set it at 150% for forward and sideways traction. Suspension says Disabled by default but when you click Disabled it gives you spring strength and buffer or something like that - I went with 90%/120% on this one as I went on ahead and took the liberty of doing so then drove her back and forth from Bandit to Yeager and visa versa.) She's a real spitfire, except on big declines, I was averaging about 35-40 mph but she kept wanting to creep up to about 70! lol I also hid the cameras in the driver's and gunner's periscopes. (It doesn't effect visibility.)
Did I mention that I liked how you left the engine semi-exposed for some rear deck detail? I wish I had thought of that when building those three tanks - it would have saved on the part count big time! lol Oh yes and another thing, I like the addition of the big circular ring at the center of the underside of the turret. Of course turrets lead down into the hull but I never gave it a thought to put something like that there besides the rotator. I'll HAVE to remember that for future projects! Overall, love this tank, I had fun polishing her up and even more fun running around crazy-like on the Krakablowa Islands! :-D Ohhh ... an interesting idea just came to mind. I wonder, with a bit of boyancy, a couple of hinge joints, and a T1000 engine - could I make this light tank amphibious? Hmm... :-D
I believe this would be classified as a tankette, in the same class as the Renault FT series. I was surprised by the amount of horsepower you gave her. I throttled up, went to turn and she lept off of her wheels and did a balarina maneuver on a corner of her skirt before falling back on her wheels. I tried to take it easy but then she overturned on me on the way to the bridge from Bandit. I took a look at the mass added and figured out a way it could be a lil more stable. Remove the mass from the upper surfaces (as much as you can without stripping off parts anyway,) and I see a way you can add 12,000 pounds - 6 tons to her weight. Those little axle stubs for the wheels would bring the center of mass right down to the belly of the beast which is where you want it in any tank, big or small. I'd also recommend bringing the steering arc down to 15-20 degrees, she'll still turn like a mad cow once the center of balance is set. XD
Aside from that, I think you did well in creating such a small armored vehicle with a low profile and great potential as a scout, infantry support vehicle and generally just a beast to tool around in! :-D I'm going to go experiment with her now. ^_^ If I come up with a variant you can say that the post-war establishment of Valmet in the former Se Suomi Imperiumi collaborated on the design~
@Pilotmario Spare me the sarcasm, please! lol BTW did you ever put together that fact file on the remnants of that crumbled empire? I forget it's name. I've seen you've been busy with the Teutonics though. Anyone else submitting allied or enemy designs to the RP at the moment?
@General360 I need to get some more planes in the air and maybe a few ships in the water before I go back to armored vehicles. I was shocked when I went to upload a new jet fighter and found I had reached my limit! I uploaded the three tanks but that was it. I thought the limit was 5 per day? Ah well, it'll give me time to surpass that jet fighter and build the medium bomber I've got in mind.
@TheOwlAce Go for it! ^_^ I got it from a parts group from someone else but now that I've seen the coding I can make a gazillion of 'em in all shapes and sizes. XD Nah, I'm not better at this in fact your' tanks with internally sprung wheels are just as good as one with a suspension system built in - perhaps better as there's a lower part count so no lag and it makes it mobile friendly.
@Dredex Say, did you need/want some Finnish Insignia for your' designs? Do you prefer the white/blue/white roundel or the white roundel with blue swastika?
@General360 Don't forget the P-44a variant~ lol Ugh, I've got to respect your' work on that Tiger tank. The first P-44s I built wound up being like 20 feet wide so I had to go back to the drawing board. These were too far progressed to think about applying the Torsion Bar suspension you developed though.
I had to throw an upvote on this archaic build, a year old and still boggles the mind that you were able to build this replica - especially back when. Loved the series, by the way, as well as the concluding movie. I'm tempted to DL this just to try a Crazy Ivan! lol
@TheOwlAce I'm sorry to hear that, I hope its nothing serious. Have you decided whether or not to participate in General360's build RP? I completely revamped my tank design then realized it was WAY too wide for practical field applications and so have been redesigning it. I'll be releasing a light tank and two versions of a medium tank that borders on a heavy tank. XD After that it's back to planes - need to get some Finnish jets built before the allies attack! ;-)
@MisterMasada lol Thanks for the tag. Never actually saw much of the series but seem to recall a film sometime back? Part of my issue is that I refuse to watch a foreign film that has been dubbed I prefer foreign films and anime that have subtitles, though I speak a bit of Japanese, quite a bit of German and a lot of Spanish. The franchises that do voice dubbing just never seem do the original cast, characters and/or settings justice whether a live action film or animated film.
Now as for this ... bird? lol I'm amazed with just about anyone who can actually make something out of science fiction perform at all. Granted my Oowashi and Hayabusa were both inspired by a sci-fi/fantasy game supplement which never went to print - but those were inspired initially by real world designs anyway. I've considered building other sci-fi inspired builds but keep getting caught up in historical setting builds. XD
@Blazeinfinity I wouldn't count the Taihonou as a failure by any stretch - you just need to raise the elevators prior to moving out! XD I haven't seen your' Tejas although that structural weakness MIGHT be inherant in its base design - not your' work. lol j/k I have had planes that have had problems in specific maneuvers too. Especially when dealing with modded engines - good grief. I outfitted my Hayabusa with 2 x 100 power J90s I think they're called, just something I randomly downloaded for giggles before I could do XML modding of my own. She made it to ... what was it ... 2.8k mph before her wings ripped off ... even though her wings were modded structural wings!! Yet, my son put one on the back of his Anthony Avia A-1 Hunchback and the bloodly thing blew away my maximum speed at like 4.8k mph and he had normal wings! Strangely his elevators stopped working at like 4.5k mph and even after speed had been brought down, engine shut down, etc. - the elevators wouldn't work. I guess we're not supposed to be making hypersonic aircraft?? XD Another fail is getting the balance wrong on aircraft and doing a complete loop on takeoff - well complete save for the nose diving into the runway. lol
@Blazeinfinity I have had MANY of those! lol Mess up on nose guns and the prop explodes. I have two planes I've designed you have to start at 30% throttle and 50% throttle respectively because full throttle is so strong they will tip. Oh yes and when I first tried to steal an unlimited fuel tank for my subassemblies and tested it; my test ship blew apart and my game went crazy. Nevermind my float planes. Getting the bouyancy perfect to where they will not tip over backwards in place OR tip forward on the run to take-off and STILL be stable enough to land. There was also my first attempt at using the new parts from the recent update and with great expectations loaded it, only to find that one part or another hadn't grabbed the joint in each wheel assembly so the wheels sprawled outward like a crushed spider on the runway. lol I have some planes it seems that I can fly fine but others say have problems. lol Don't worry, you're not alone with flops of builds. XD
@ccooper Thanks! @General360 - Has the RP ended or is it in? o.<; I'm preparing a couple of versions of tanks built on the same base as well. Next will be a medium bomber or jet fighter, most likely. Although I have a Torpedo boat that just needs its gun installations and detail work before she'll be ready.
This thing is FUN and can handle some pretty rugged terrain. The only thing I would have changed is to change the engines to respond to pitch rather than throttle as the speed can get away on you with throttle and pitch allows you to coast AND reverse. Loved the rescaled boom-50s as a multi-shot mortar and the miniguns are a great touch too.
@AwesomeDesign717 lol No problem, I know we can't build ships to scale on here without creating a lag monster - just razzing ya. ^_^ However a specific aircraft built for the Soviet Navy would be neat!
@Phim While beautiful I ran into a few issues flying her. Her center of gravity and lift are so close together that she can quickly pitch upward with the slightest lift of the elevators and bleed off a bunch of speed. (At least with keyboard controls.) I am not sure why but she tends to roll to port as well though I've noticed a similar problem in some of my builds that never had an issue before too. A bug perhaps? Dunno. Anyway I filled up the forward fuselage section with fuel which brought the center of balance away from the center of lift but still behind the main landing gear, gave her wider "paddle blades" and a broader prop diameter and that fixed the instability and allowed her to use more of that 2,000 HP you put up front. Better yet she still maintains that amazing maneuverability and remarkably slow stall speed you built into her. She handles exactly how I would expect a next gen successor to the Zero to fly. :D
@ccooper Thanks! ^_^
@Oni789 For your' subassemblies if you decide to continue with @General360 's RP builds. ^_^
Thanks, @Djbanana :-D

@Liquidfox Thanks! ^_^

@General360
@MrVaultech Glad to see that others are concerned about getting supplies to front line axis units too! :-D
@IStoleYourMeme Sweet! You've discovered something about this game engine I didn't know - but that's not all that surprising. lol
@General360 Gotcha, so basically speaking Finland is still focusing on the Soviet remnants that refuse to surrender for fear that they will make a comeback with allied aid - while still watching their backs against events to the West.

@General360 Ah, now I see! :-D Sorry, I'll have to rewrite some of my materials. Was any of the old Soviet Union or Sweden ceded to Finland?
@General360 Oh ... Well then! Where can I find the chronicals of the outcomes of the various campaigns? The USSR is still listed for builders - even in the most recent post ... ?
@SimpleTechAndResearch What do you mean Russia has already fallen? I know you are representing Germany in the RP but has @General360 stated that the Soviet Union fell to the Axis powers?
You do have some interesting experimental ideas!! XD

YES! A German TOG! :-D lol
Very nice work!
