Thanks for the upvote, @Pilotmario! Some family resemblances to the Carnivore but I think the original feel for her was the Fokker G.I Reaper meets the A-10, kinda, with vitals armored, an armored tub for the crew, etc. - and the big ole BK.5 in place of the Rotary Cannon. Believe it or not, I modded that thing to scale. lol RoF is slightly faster too, it's supposed to be 75 rnds per minute but when you put a decimal in the rounds per second thing it starts acting weird, so I uprated her to 120 rnds per minute. The MG 213Cs are a little underscale if the standard wing gun is .50 cal as it says in its coding, with a reaaaaaally light bullet, terrible rate of fire and a marginal muzzle velocity. All the other coding for her is on the mark though. ^_^
@ccooper lol You really are scraping the bottom of the barrel! This one was a remake of my first plane once they came out with the fuselage blocks and new landing gear. lol Thank you though!
@TheOwlAce True, however, bear in mind the highest number of upvotes I've EVER had for one creation? 11. That was for a flawed set of Finnish markings.
@TheOwlAce Excuse me, who is gold here and who is still slacking at silver? XD Nah, really I don't care 'bout that stuff. I build things that excite me and that inspire me to work on them. Someone said earlier on here that we're our own worst critics. Even now, after posting that twin boomed plane I've though of a dozen additional improvements I could have made to the design both for detail, effects and aesthetics.
@TheOwlAce I can see that! lol I seldom get many upvotes or comments on my creations, even when I put a ton of work into making them purr like a kitten and still look like they can skin a live Liger. lol
@TheOwlAce Wow, this thing is CRAZY huge! I can't get over the number of parts on this thing or the fact that it is as long as the new ship's hull I made! It reminds me of a Blohm und Voss Bv-238 on steroids! Big macho wings, BIG nose .... tiny little ... ahem tail? lol j/k -random little saab fighter buzzes her in her inaugural flight, accidentally clips the outer most engine, two more engines explode and wing falls off to the horror of everyone; Kaiser thinks to self ... I never should have sold off Suomi surplus to civilians-
@Sunnyskies Thanks for upvoting this has-been design. I cranked this one up from the original as a sales-pitch sorta deal with PilotMario. He preferred the original though it's fuel efficiency and speed were completely inferior to this design. lol In the end his variant he created was so heavily altered you could barely tell they were related. XD
@Sunnyskies lol I like twin boom designs too so I can't fault you. The Lightning is top, the Fokker G.I Reaper is second, the Fw-189 is third and the SAAB J.21 comes in as a distant fourth. After that we get into Venoms, Vampires and Vixens. ^_~ I have a twin boom heavy bomber in the works but it's meant for the RP build I'm in and it might be ending. lol
In these colors, strip her of the arms and you'd have a Lockheed F-5 Lightning Photo-Recon plane on your' hands with the addition of a couple of camera ports. ;-)
Thanks a bunch, @ccooper, did you give this beastie a whirl? I decided that since VL had a policy of naming aircraft after weather effects that there was no better name for a deadly attack aircraft built by the Finns than Blizzard! lol
@TheOwlAce Hmm, I can't promise an immediate answer. Gotta finish mowing, visit my father at the nursing home, get dinner going, etc. lol Busy busy! However, ask away and I'll do my best!
@TehNewDucky Oh okay, sorry about that! I thought you were in General360s alternate WW2 RP and didn't see you were on iOS. I wish that Mac would reconsider their policy for games like this one but they're hard headed. Last I knew they were still fighting with the Feds over their privacy policies even...
And dang, that bird is loaded to the nines!! All you need now is the toilet bomb to finish off her loadout!!
Hmm ... I'd say, primary armament would be 30 mm Type 5 Autocannons, stats are easily modded in XML, and from there you could go with 250 Lb. bombs, or rocket pods, but that could be boring. You could create tube-style recoilless rifles or rockets under the wings with rescaled missiles or even 250 Lb. bombs if the tube is nudged down over a working base, modded/rescaled detacher and the weapon in question. If working with missiles, since its a period RP, just make sure you don't turn on your' guidance just see to it that the rocket motor activates with the same AG as the detacher. This idea also works with your' balance issue as you can nudge the barrel assembly over the weapon assembly wherever the extra weight will help. Clearance shouldn't be a problem as a 0.18 thick piece of fuselage in the wing will allow you to mount the barrel directly to the wing or forgoing that - directly to the fuselage.
If its a matter of clearance with gear doors, while I have no experience with it on SPs, there are a couple of options from history. The Ju-86 had part of its gear door hinged to protrude away from the bottom of the oleo leg opposite from the wheel. I'm sure you can find pics online. On the other hand you could have a secondary set of gear doors on the wing assemblies that simply are retracted over the wheel after the gear is back in place to counter for that clearance?
@MrSilverWolf This is ... AWESOME! :-D Its a wonder to me that you don't do more warbirds as you do them so well they make mine look like a grade schooler put them together! lol Its also an obscure warbird which makes it all the more exciting to see. What prompted this sudden and swift appearance? All I have to say is; Encore! Encore! ^_~
I agree, the main issue is that there is no fixed system for control of cars in SPs. I prefer the WASD controls, personally, but that's not for everyone. Some folks have started building tanks that use VTOL for one set of tracks and TRIM for the other; That may work fabulously on tablets but not so much on PC. lol
I've used other's designs for inspiration before, though never a direct copy. That's what this appears to be to me here. Something built out of inspiration as opposed to copying.
@General360 Oh okay! A little disappointing that it'll end soon but all good things must one day come to an end. ^_^ It's been fun! Should I not bother with the heavy bomber, the nearly 300 foot long cruiser or the 90 foot torpedo boat? The cruiser would take me a week to finish out as I only have the hull, power plants and steerage assembled with a 110-ish part count.
@ccooper On take-off or on landing? I've heard from my son that the fellow on Youtube, "Weasel" I think, has a hard time with seaplanes and floatplanes. In the lengthy description above are tips for flight. I have no trouble taking off and landing with her and in reality ALL aircraft have their quirks. This one is that she has so much power up front, she'll nose over if you aren't gentle. I throttle up to 30%, with the flaps down and while pulling back on the stick. At around 50 mph there's a change in her dynamics in the water, and you can throttle up to 50%. She easily hits the 144 mph mark even at that throttle level.
Landings are a lot more tricky. Firstly, don't try to land with the bombs. Second use those flaps, you'll need them. Slow down to 140~160 mph by the time you hit 100 ft and then kill the engines and pull up on the stick. Don't pay any mind to your' airspeed at that point but "feel" out how the aircraft is handling in a nose up attitude. From orbit view you should see the float rudder slice the water first before it settles down on the water surface. Keep the stick pulled back until she slows down to about 30 mph. You can decelerate from there using yaw down to 7 mph. I didn't try a whole lot of taxiing, but 10-15% throttle should be enough, just don't pass that 30 mph mark and keep the stick pulled back. Throttle too high and the top of the aircraft will try to accelerate faster than the water tension will allow the floats to - ergo - she'll nose over. I tested her out over and over to get the floats just right and was frog-hopping all around Krakablowa with her.
This is my first time designing a central float the way I made this one. I think it looks better than my prior floatplane designs but it is definitely not as forgiving. I think my little single engine floatplane was even more of a challenge to land as she didn't have flaps and you still had to hit the water just so, so she wouldn't nose over. Even the first starter float plane you got with the game, not the red one, but the high-wing monoplane, took a bit of getting used to to land. Play around with her, once you master her operations you'll have greater repect for the pilots that had to do that on choppy seas and heavy winds when rescuing downed aircrews and survivors of sunken ships! ^_^
@General360 Thanks! ^_^ I should have a couple to a few more to contribute by week's end. Quick question, are we permitted to use missiles for ripple fire like the katyushka? (i.e. Fired by AG rather than with targeting? I have this wickedly evil idea for the Finnish version of the Schnellboot. lol)
Thanks @OldColonel did you give her a flight in Sandbox mode? If you did, in your' opinion, how could I have improved the performance of this aircraft?
Glad to hear it, @General360, and thank you. Just as a note the historical data I offered is of course without any real basis. I am curious though was Finland's involvement with the axis nations the same in this alternate history and have shots been fired between Finland and the western allies? I don't think I've seen Finland mentioned in the war updates.
How about SimplyEverything~? lol I like the new additions and I'm hoping for more that will be geared towards ships, rocket propulsion, true tank treads that aren't so fiddly, flexible material that can be a chain, rope, belt, cable in addition to pulley-rotators or can simply be linked to a car engine for power. I'd like more AGs too. Heck if the Pulleys are adjustable like car wheels, can be linked to car engines and a flexible multi-texture adjustable material is offered there would be our tank treads.
@Dredex Ugh, I should have tested the markings out first. By making them double sided it doesn't saddle down into the wing as it should. I think I will experiment with making a different set that doesn't use thin markings over a roundel but rather markings like the ones you've been using where it's parts buried in parts. I'd just need to make the outer roundel 0.22 deep, the middle roundel 0.24 deep and the center one 0.26 deep - nudge it all together and I THINK it would saddle down into the middle of the wing. I did do a recolor of this bird with Finnish markings though.
Thanks for the upvote, @Pilotmario! @ccooper Hah, I forgot about this bird! lol Thanks for the upvote. ^_^

@TheOwlAce jk I've got my plate full with my current RP and I have no plans for a second coming of the JOTUN. lol
@TheOwlAce Maybe I should try?? XD
@TheOwlAce Wow, this thing is CRAZY huge! I can't get over the number of parts on this thing or the fact that it is as long as the new ship's hull I made! Thanks a lot @Liquidfox!!
@MrVaultech The General said you're taking over for the Alt WW2 RP?
@General360 Any particular reason you opted to stop the RP updates and such, if I may ask?
Hmm .. could be interesting, but I'm having fun with the alternate WW2 RP. ^_~
Thank you both very much, @Johndfg & @OldColonel! ^_^
@General360 Oh ... okay? @MrVaultech then?
@TheOwlAce Hmm, I can't promise an immediate answer. Gotta finish mowing, visit my father at the nursing home, get dinner going, etc. lol Busy busy! However, ask away and I'll do my best!
Thanks, that was fast, @TheOwlAce!
@General360
@TheOwlAce S'alright~ Thanks for the upvote! ^_^
@ccooper She was built for an RP with @TheOwlAce that he ended soon before she and her cousins were meant to make her debut. :-(
Thanks @ccooper this one got no lovin's from the community. XD
@TehNewDucky Oh okay, sorry about that! I thought you were in General360s alternate WW2 RP and didn't see you were on iOS. What are the odds of a Blue Angels F-18 and Thunderbirds F-16 going down on the same day?
Thank you, @ccooper! ^_^
What a neat project, kudos for tackling something like this! ^_^
