@RareHeroicDancer Ah, that explains it then! Yeah, SP physics does some weird things. This is actually my first gear that works kinda alright, so I was a bit worried.
@RareHeroicDancer custom landing gear has always been a massive problem with all my builds. That is strange though, because I did carrier landings at much higher speeds in this thing, and with its predecessor, which uses the same gear, I could slam it into the runway even at 150-160 no problem.
Absolutely amazing interior, that this is around 530 parts is a bit hard to believe given the amount of stuff. I wouldn't have used the dummy models personally, but hey, it works. Congratulations on a great build!
Clocks are important indeed. This thing is looking amazing so far, I fear the part count but it'll be worth it for sure. The detail on this is mindblowing.
@Mustang51 Thanks! The Sea Hawk was indeed my main inspiration for this plane, especially on the nose/intakes and paint scheme. The wings and the rear section I just sketched on a napkin, lel.
Absolutely brilliant! I have some really old designs I never posted that were nuclear bombers, cruise missiles etc. using mods, now I realize I can probably revisit them one day and use a similar system to make them mod-free. Hats off to you for this amazing catch of using the cannon.
@Hedero Oh, I was fairly sure you were joking lel. And yeah, I'm not overly competitive either, I just do stuff for fun when I get an idea for it. In this one, for instance, I never expected to win, it was quite a surprise.
@Hedero Relax pal, I won't have the time to make it look or fly nearly as good as this one, that is, if I manage to finish it at all lel. I was inspired on this bird right here.
And by the way, your Panther is looking mighty fine. The competition is pretty fierce though, that one guy who did slotted dive brakes...
Wow, I definitely wasn't expecting this one! There were a lot of truly great planes here, and I'm honoured to have lived up to the same quality standards.
@Mustang51 Nah, it would probably be unfair to everyone else if you extended it because of one guy, lol. Now, if there are more people in this situation, yeah, might be worth looking into.
@Mustang51 So yeah, this is what I've been doing in my free time (so little of it lol) for the last week or so. I've got two ideas for that challenge of yours, I'll see if I can get something ready by then.
@wonkapilot The only reason I didn't was because it's 99,9% the same as the "Ghost Grey" scheme. The only difference, and this is easy to do yourself, is that two of the fuselage sections - one on each side - of the tail are painted orange. It's the semi-gloss orange in the color palette, it shouldn't be hard to find.
And thank you! That's exactly what I wanted to achieve with this bird.
This is beyond amazing. It's essentially an automated Norden in nearly every possible way. Hats off to you, good sir; Congratulations is not an emphatic enough word for this.
I almost missed this until I wondered why did I suddenly have 20 upvotes, lel. I wasn't expecting first place on this one with how I placed the engines, and the competition had some great builds.
@MrVaultech I'm really glad you liked this airplane that much. That was my impression too, it's one of the most fun I've had with one of my own builds in a while. It keeps you busy just enough to be interesting, and responds well in most cases.
And yeah, cockpit view was something I really wanted to try out on this one. I tried to make it as simple as possible while still keeping it interesting. Thanks a lot for your comment.
And like I said in the post just below, the stories just write themselves in my head as I build the plane, so I've got to put them somewhere, lmao
Fantastic plane. It looks beautiful, it flies smooth and easily, the control surfaces behave realistically and it is overall just an absolute joy to fly. This definitely deserves more recognition.
Amazing! The "gunsight view" of the two cannon barrels is something that is a quintessential part of the F-5 and you captured it perfectly. 132 parts - true to the spirit of the F-5, simple, easy to use and gets the job done really well. Congratulations!
Hot damn, this is amazingly well done! I didn't expect to find a T-25 of such quality around. It's a beautiful but rare bird, and one I've been wanting to see in SP for ages. Thank you for this piece!
@edufrs14 Yes, it was based on the Super Tucano indeed. I tried to make it a bit closer to what the original idea behind the Tucano was, which was initially to be a turboprop-powered version of the Neiva T-25 Universal. Glad to know you like it!
@Baldovino That was the inspiration, for sure, but it's not a 1:1 replica. I take a lot of inspiration from RL designs, but I usually don't do replicas, both because I don't consider my skills to be good enough to make something worthy being called a replica, and also because I like being a bit more free, having leeway to change some things, give it my own spin.
So yeah, it's most definitely inspired by the Flapjack, but put the two planes side by side and you'll see they're not the same. I make planes just for fun and nothing else, writing up backstories is part of it.
It's great that you mention Charles Zimmermann though, a lot of people tend to neglect/not care about the engineers behind the projects. To me, they're the soul of the aircraft, especially in the early days where you'd have one guy that essentially overlooked everything and took the decisions. His work with the V-173 and XF5U is impressive and gave us some of the most unique planes out there.
Hell yes man, seaplane fighters. The world needs more of these, it's a shame stuff like the Sea Dart never really went into service.
For some reason, this one gives me SeaMaster vibes (one of my favorite planes, especially on the looks department) but scaled down to fighter size. I like it.
Absolutely beautiful build of a very unique aircraft! Great job.
+1That looks amazing. Area 88 is an old favourite of mine, I'll be looking forward to this.
+4@RareHeroicDancer Ah, that explains it then! Yeah, SP physics does some weird things. This is actually my first gear that works kinda alright, so I was a bit worried.

@teodor99 That's high praise considering the planes I've seen around on this site! Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed it.
+1@Mustang51 Thanks man! It's just a mashup of the other one, but I quite liked how it came out so decided to enter it as well lel
+1Absolutely amazing interior, that this is around 530 parts is a bit hard to believe given the amount of stuff. I wouldn't have used the dummy models personally, but hey, it works. Congratulations on a great build!

@TheCreatorandDestroyer99 Thanks man, that means a lot. I try my best to make my planes fun to fly around, I'm glad to see it's working out.
Absolutely brilliant! I have some really old designs I never posted that were nuclear bombers, cruise missiles etc. using mods, now I realize I can probably revisit them one day and use a similar system to make them mod-free. Hats off to you for this amazing catch of using the cannon.

A design which intrigued me since I first saw it in a book as a child. Amazing replica, good sir.
+2Wow, I definitely wasn't expecting this one! There were a lot of truly great planes here, and I'm honoured to have lived up to the same quality standards.
+1@Mustang51 Nah, it would probably be unfair to everyone else if you extended it because of one guy, lol. Now, if there are more people in this situation, yeah, might be worth looking into.

@Geebers @Mustang51 Thanks a bunch, guys!
Digital camouflage, one really nice custom cockpit and only around 500 parts for all that? You, sir, are a wizard.
Excellent taste in aircraft, good sir.
More Ki-61 is always good. Amazing level of accuracy for such a low part count, too.
+1@wonkapilot The only reason I didn't was because it's 99,9% the same as the "Ghost Grey" scheme. Now this is one fantastic-looking bird! Unique design, for sure.
The panelling work on this one is impressive. Paint scheme gives real Cold War vibes, excellent build.
Amazing execution of the Svärdfisk paint scheme. A great build right there.

+1@Treadmill103 Haha what can I say, the stories write themselves in my head and I've got to put them somewhere! Thanks, man.
+1@Mustang51 Doesn't it? I've been meaning to make some drawings of my other builds for quite some time in fact, lol. Thanks!
+1@MarshallLewisAerospace @Mercyaircraftcorporation @Seeras Thanks a lot, guys!
@lastv801 Why not? As long as the credit system works (and I've attested it works quite well, lol)
Fantastic plane. It looks beautiful, it flies smooth and easily, the control surfaces behave realistically and it is overall just an absolute joy to fly. This definitely deserves more recognition.
Absolutely beautiful! It looks very Russian. Description is top-tier, too.
Amazing! The "gunsight view" of the two cannon barrels is something that is a quintessential part of the F-5 and you captured it perfectly. 132 parts - true to the spirit of the F-5, simple, easy to use and gets the job done really well. Congratulations!
+2@Zanedavid Thankufully, that tiny fuel tank will run dry before you have to worry about that lmao
@Griffinthedragon It's a plane whose original design dates back to 1907, so... yeah, it pretty much is a deathtrap lol
@Mustang51 @edensk @Trainzo @ThePrototype @botto28 Thanks a lot, guys!
+1Now that is an amazing plane and an absolutely beautiful screenshot! Congratulations, good sir.
+1@MAHADI Thanks! Tried out a few new techniques, took me some time but I like how it turned out.
@Mustang51
@JohnnyBoythePilot
@MAHADI
@Aeromen
@botto28
Just tagging some people who I believe might be interested in this. If I was wrong, let me know, and my apologies.
This is an amazing bird! Those dive brakes, man.

@Jokowi Because it flies well, looks good, and does that while still being extremely simple. It's a really solid design.
Nice! The Cutlass is one of my favorite-looking planes. A real shame it underperformed the way it did. If only it had better engines...
+1@Baldovino That was the inspiration, for sure, but it's not a 1:1 replica. Hell yes man, seaplane fighters. The world needs more of these, it's a shame stuff like the Sea Dart never really went into service.

An amazing build for an amazing plane! I've been wanting to see this bird around here for a while now.
