The U.S. Army’s combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq in 2001 and 2003, respectively, showed that the forces lacked adequate intra-unit communications, particularly at lower echelons, and that the use of satellite communications resources offered a future solution. The promise of satellites was borne out by the success of Blue Force Tracker, a communications system used to track the locations of units and vehicles connected to low-orbit communications satellites.
More overhead communications systems are needed, but satellites are costly and require either expensive geosynchronous satellites or many low- or mid-earth-orbit satellites. Potential alternative platforms are solar-powered high-altitude airships and airplanes flying at or above 65,000 feet. Aircraft payloads could support communications suites, such as the Adaptive Joint C4ISR Node (AJCN), and surveillance suites similar to Global Hawk equip- ment and space-based radar. Weapon systems are potential payloads not addressed in this report.
The purpose of this report is to inform the U.S. Army about the usefulness and limitations of airships in roles of supporting communications and surveillance functions in theater battlespace.

Well, no, but actually yes
You can increase acceleration by setting an engine's max really low and set the powerMultiplier to whatever number is needed to get the decimal back to the value 1.
For instance, if I set max to 0.1, I would set powerMultiplier to 10. This would result in the engine outputting a power equivalent to 1, but with higher rate of acceleration. Want the acceleration to be higher? Just set the max even lower, and the engine power proportionally higher.
The effect is amplified if you set an engine's input to Activate1 instead of, say, Throttle, so it instantly sets output to maximum when activated.

Goodbye to an absolute legend. Sadboye12 was probably the only thing that made me boot up this game for a while. Their creations were absolutely beautiful, at the peak of function, and somehow still with low part counts. I'm sorry to see them go, but glad they're moving on to better things and tools. SimplePlanes never quite did their visions justice.

Usually recommendation algorithms are employed by platforms with higher content streams. SP's content flow isn't large enough to validate implementing one. Furthermore, if it was actually implemented, we would likely see a lot of the same posts over and over. The content flow just isn't big enough to support it nor validate it.
Secondly, the website is, well, old. The devs do prefer the SR site and if they did implement an algorithm, it would be there. Besides, an algorithm does increase costs, and I don't think Jundroo wants to invest too much in an old site—especially when it works fine already.
Finally, I think the aircraft tags and search functions assist well enough in sifting through a smaller content flow. The only thing a recommended algorithm would help with is finding underrated old aircrafts.
Why fix it if it isn't broken?

clamp01(Altitude < 40) in the activationGroup tab should work.
Put it into a downward-facing engine, preferably centred at the CoM.

There's definitely better ways, but that works. You can adjust the 40 to whatever height you need. It's measured in metres IIRC, so you'll have to convert.
Also, if you change Altitude to AltitudeAgl, it will measure the altitude above ground level as opposed to sea level.

Yes, unfortunately. I was a horrible learner. Your point is still solid though–the beginner barrier is large.
I think a better way to do it would be improving the tutorials–they barely scratch the depth of the game right now. If they taught you how to use fuselage blocks, and some XML basics, I'm sure beginner posts would improve significantly.

I would honestly say try to get a new computer.
Chromebooks simply aren't made for gaming.
Ignore the brand/ownership pride for a while and look at it logically. If you did screw your graphics card over, it's a better long-term investment to purchase a new one than to keep your current one on life support for a while. Once hardware starts getting messed up, that's sort of the point where you have to recognize that you're putting more stress on the device than it was meant for. The problems will only increase the longer you do so.
Trust me on this. I'm in your same sort of situation right now—my computer's screwed up, and instead of letting ownership pride blind me I'm just getting a new one.
'Tis the season dude. Ask and you might get lucky on the 25th.
