The death of the hijacker is really sad, apparently he did a few battle rolls, loopy loops, he seemed to have no bad intentions, it’s just good he didn’t crash in residential areas. It’s a really sad story.
Here is a list of notable people and notable incidents from my memory (I have forgotten many of their names, and for others I will not be stating their names)
-Forgot his name but a guy who claimed to be a volunteer firefighter then admitted to lying about said claim 😭.
-Also forgot his name, but a guy claimed to have died in a fighter jet crash, and then it turned out he was faking.
-This one guy showed up for a week, posted cryptic poetry, then disappeared. He then reappeared a few years later, did this again, then disappeared.
-Back when custom thumbnails finally became possible, people putting anime girls in their thumbnails became controversial, and a lot of people got very angry at each other - this is the first serious and large scale SP controversy I can remember.
-Unnamed individual who claimed to have stolen a car, and impersonated devs/mods - was also quite notable for causing other drama
-Who can forget how many people were involved in the insane beef over low effort planes getting upvotes got in late 2020 to early 2021. This controversy eventually spiraled beyond the quality of builds into more sensitive issues & personal beef. Ended with a few people perma banned. Fun times.
-I know I didn’t say any names, but I just want to tell some old SP lore lol
Honestly I think that’s just how SimplePlanes has always been. There has always been an ebb and flow of quality getting attention and then humor getting attention. From A.W.F.U.R and Worms 7 years ago, to drama about Anime Girl Clickbait 5 years ago, there’s always something happening.
@Graingy I had it for a few years before. I got it almost immediately after it was released on mobile. If I remember correctly, the front page UI was completely different back then, but that was like 8-9 years ago so who really knows!
@JeskoGoesVROOM Mines pretty similar, the jet engine that I use for the actual flame effect shrinks the exhaust when you get to higher altitudes which works out nicely but I could definitely make the glow at the tip adjust to atmosphere better
