@MIAW26PERSIAN it was designed as a multi role naval aircraft/interceptor, besides the PBJ and A-26 had 12-14 guns... so for an attacker, its not that excessive.
if i remember correctly, The Lippisch Aerodyne was a similar aircraft, but it used a vectored thrust ducted fan to generate lift, and could take off almost vertical.

i thought they did build some variant of it? the Lippisch DM.1 was a glider made to test the design, and the engine was built and tested on a Do-17.
