@WinsWings - This is great. The switch from ME to design is a huge leap for many, but you are obviously very talented. I’m not on instagram but I’ll join just to connect with you. I currently work at a major software company as a director. Wish we had talent like you have on our team. Cheers!
@WinsWings - I’d love to see some of your work if you have a portfolio. I’m envious since my team is kind of missing the artistic edge in our video strategy (we create developer software). I’m always in awe of good designers. I’m building a new machine just to run After Effects since it is a RAM monster. But I’m afraid I’ll be limited by my creative limits. There are some really good content creators out there. I’m sure you are one of them.
@WinsWings - Yes! We made a lot of great memories together. Walrus Jr. was a talented builder and his helped drive his passion to enroll in engineering and specialize in aero. I think those kids are using Siemens NX and run their race car sims through Rescale HPC that was kind enough to donate a lot of server time. I wish my company could have donated some HPC resources, but the powers that be at my work are more interested in their Redbull racing program, and not helping students.
Thanks for the highlight on my old Bear. Started in this game ages ago as an activity to play with my son. I think we were player #150 or so. Walrus Jr. is now a Sr. in UTD engineering and currently leads the schools Formula SAE program. No time to play these days!
@Graingy - I’m so out of the loop on this conversation, but that’s OK. Maybe I’ll post something to bring back some good memories of when I was more in tune with the community. I hope you are all doing well.
@WaterFlavouredSpitfires - I’m partially responsible for a few of the devs getting hired, and I played this game a LOT with my son, who now leads the Formula SAE aero team at UTD. You can say I have an emotional attachment to the game. :-)
You are a small team, so I expect that you will need to conserve resources for new projects. Assuming you continue on the physics based genre, I expect you will count on the strong community base when evangelizing your new product. My suggestions for you are as follows:
1.) Remember that the game comes in cycles of new players entering every 4 to 6 months. Any new game that you create has to appeal to these new waves of users. Keep the bar low for immediate enjoyment (fun).
2.) The greatest appeal of simple planes was sandbox mode. Remember to have a huge world and lots of options to explore, if you have a world at all.
3.). For advanced users in SimplePlanes, many young people who started out years ago have become engineers, and use auto desk, or Star CCM in school or work. If your new game is design-based try to create a bridge into other programs, so creations can be used elsewhere.
Most people don’t know this, but I’ve had some influence over the hiring of a few of the Jundroo dev. Mostly behind the scenes stuff that most would never know about or understand. These developers are fantastic and I would easily hire them in my organization (I’m a director in a very large software company). The people, players, and community in SP are quite special and I marvel at the energy and dedication put into this platform. This game has shaped futures and has moved so many young people into related careers. It is the single most important game in influencing many young lives. I am grateful for this game, and I will always be a player.
@PlaneFlightX - Walrus Sr. here. I never left the game, but my life is too busy to build these days. It is sad because Jr. has some sick designs that will never see the light of day since he is too busy to play, too.
I don’t usually comment on creations these days, but my jaw hit the floor with this exquisite design. Juxtaposition of quality, functionality, and style. Bravo!
@WinsWings - Thanks, I connected with you.

@WinsWings - Thank you, sir!
+1@WinsWings - Ha, ha, this is beautiful. I love how you can drift it. You’re a great dad.

+1@Solent19 - It was ALOT harder to build 8 years ago. I don’t think we even had nudging back then. Everything was altered via XML coordinates.
+1@WinsWings - hello from Austin, TX
+1Great build!
@DatTrainAndCarGuy19 - yes, it does.
@Graingy - I’m so out of the loop on this conversation, but that’s OK. Maybe I’ll post something to bring back some good memories of when I was more in tune with the community. I hope you are all doing well.
+1@Mousewithamachinegun122 - Yup, I’m pretty old.
+1Beautiful job.
+1Keep up the good work.
@Mousewithamachinegun123 - Yes, they come and go in waves. People tend to drop off after finishing high school or exiting college.
It’s funny to get comments on this old thing.
@Mousewithamachinegun123 who is gone?
@KornAerospace - :-)
@TheTomatoLover lol
+1@Englishgarden - Thank you, yes it was a difficult build with tools we had at the time. We didn’t even have part nudging back then. All XML based.

@ArleighBurke thank you!

+19Congratulations!
Once in awhile I come in and fly newer players creations. Nice job.
+1I like it. I made one about six years ago now. Seems like yesterday.
+1@WiniMii - yes!
Congratulations to the team!
+1@DashEight - It took a year for us old playersto figure out we could mod the XLM.
Thank you. Safe travels. @HigwayLivin
+1No, he was a player. @Bellcat

+8And Tuk-tuk rules over everyone @WeAreTheWorld
+1OK, you got my attention. :-)
+2Indeed you are @WolfHunter9111
+1Yes, I’ve been around a long time. @Bruhmomen
I’m still here! 😜@IceCraftGaming
+3This was made a million years ago, but thanks for commenting. 😀@WolfHunter9111
+1I own a 2012 GSR. Bought it new in Dallas and tuned it with a COBB Access Port the same day. Ask me anything about this car.
+2Bravo! Greta would be proud.
+2Congratulations to the team. I’m glad to be part of your journey from early days. -Walrus Sr.
+1Bring back Simple Wheels @andrewgarrison
+6You put a lot of work into this and it looks great.
Three thumbs up!
+1Yes, just look in my builds. @WarKiller64
