    You should have a friendship request from a certain TheMightyNose now on Twitch.

  • Indy Air Race 7.6 years ago

    Hmm, I suppose I could look if I still have my old Mehgjik-1-0 and whether I can get it to actually complete the race. I wouldn't mind finally having revenge on this cruel track.

    Mod class means XML modding is allowed. Other sorts of mods still won't work.

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.6 years ago

    @ddweck32
    There is a bug in the game that sometimes makes the game think that a plane missed the last ring when said plane goes through the finish at high speeds but didn't miss the last ring.
    This usually happens at higher speeds than 1200mph, but I've seen it before even at that speed. You probably were rather unlucky there.

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.6 years ago

    Oh crap, forgot to remove the scale 0.5 from the VTOL nozzles, gg...

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.6 years ago

    @SkullsAndCrossbones
    Ah so that is why the Japanese lost the war, their pilots thought they were driving submarines. :P

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.6 years ago

    Just a little longer until its time to click the refresh button until all my fingers are falling off.

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.6 years ago

    @Tully2001
    It is if it has a reliability of over 10%.

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.6 years ago

    Well, I finished my plane she completes the race in 1:04-1:06 and she is reliable. I can't wait to see how far she'll get. Hopefully she'll surprise me like Riyu-Elisa did.

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.6 years ago

    @Supercraft888
    Actually, assuming that 80% is a correct estimation of their reliability... (I'm guessing it is lower...)
    You'll have a 10.4% chance that they get eliminated during every mini match due to crashing. Which as a side effect means that they have about 50% chance of being eliminated by round 6 due to poor reliability...
    Personally, I prefer >90% reliability, much lower chance (only 2.8% chance at 90% reliability iirc) of getting humiliated by a prop.

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.6 years ago

    @CALVIN232
    Eh, I have a slightly improved version of Storzhkin, it goes 750mph on average and it hasn't crashed so far. I'm pretty sure that it's possible to make a plane that goes faster than that whilst remaining reliable.

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.6 years ago

    @Viperfox
    Your plane flies fine if you remove the pitch surfaces of the primary wing and halve the size of all other control surfaces. Unchanged it will crash.

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.6 years ago

    @Alienbeef0421
    If you use overload than it automatically adds part scale attributes to edited parts. Going into the XML file and manually removing partscale from your VTOL nozzles should work.

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.7 years ago

    Hmm, VTOL nozzles seem to be a bit weird, if you scale them to size 1 than their size increases?!

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.7 years ago

    @Alienbeef0421
    Well, during a short test your DE 2 seems to dive every single time on right start. Unfortunately this means that I can't really see what causes the problem. I'm still unsure what kind of engine I'll use myself.

  • Flyweight - Shark Tooth 7.7 years ago

    1:16 for Storzhkin. It seems that Storzhkin has the right balance for this track and Riyu Elisa a completely wrong one. It seems that I can't just use a slightly adjusted version of a plane I already have if i want a competitive time, how bothersome.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @Alienbeef0421
    I had considered using air brakes in a somewhat similar way. But assumed that it would gain very little. Now after seeing a much faster plane having about the same reliability as mine I'm starting to think that I might have massively underestimated the effect of air brakes.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @EarthwormJim
    I disagree about that. Hopotumon might have made a slower plane than them but he made a more reliable plane. I say that reliability matters as well and that his victory is fully deserved.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    GG @Hopotumon

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @Baldovino
    You should try cheering for your plane, increases the chance of it winning. :P

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    I still feel bad for entering an ugly plane. Its a mod class, I should have made a mini B-17 or something. :P

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @Daviwavy
    The prize for winning this tournament is 500 completely useless E-points. And bragging rights, maybe.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @Warbrine
    The tournament AI is exactly the same as the racing AI available to everyone.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @Warbrine
    Actually, you can test some of the people their 'fake' times since they uploaded their planes. And you will learn that some people can make planes that go over 2000 mph that survive this track most of the time.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    Anyway, I'm probably going to slow my plane down further, 35% chance to glitch through the finish and 15% chance for my 0:41 plane to crash because the AI hates me sounds a bit bad.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @Alienbeef0421
    This map doesn't have a pyramid, but is otherwise more bothersome. With a rather annoying cliff and the race having your plane fly towards the ground a bit much for comfort.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    Just a thing worth mentioning, I won the Dragon despite half a dozen planes being about 10 seconds faster than mine. Speed isn't everything.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @Champ9961
    Depends, how good does a 35% chance of losing to a prop plane sound to you?

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @Alienbeef0421
    Both Etherions have some parts without disabled collisions, the inlet and the cockpit to my knowledge.
    The not so dark Etherion crashed 1 out of 10 times on the left start and 4 out of 10 times on the right start. Completing the course in 43 or occasionally 44 seconds.
    Your Dark Etherion crashed 3 out of 10 times on both starts and completes the race in 45 or 46 seconds.
    Neither missed any checkpoints. I'm not sure what causes the crashes, except for the AI being a bother.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @MetalHead666
    Mod class means that all XML modding is allowed, unlike usual tournaments where most XML modding is forbidden.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @Alienbeef0421
    The 0:39 version of my plane has abysmal reliability as well. Hence, I think I'll probably use my 0:41 plane, or perhaps even a slightly slower version than that one.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @Alienbeef0421
    I'm not so sure about 3. too low wing loading can be quite harmful for a plane's agility. My plane's reliability improved massively when I increased its wing loading from 10 to 19.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @FlyingThings
    In mod class tournaments, yes, most certainly.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @FlyingThings
    You are probably not using enough XML magic.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @Alienbeef0421
    So, would 41 seconds be good enough? Or do I need to somehow figure out how to complete the track in 39 seconds with decent reliability? :P

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    Sometimes life gives you tempting options. Either I can give my plane a proper amount of roll, and the AI will occasionally smash my plane in the ground. Or I can give it too much roll and it will occasionally smash my plane against mountainsides.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @BaconAircraft
    It seems that the tournament play style has changed from trying to make the best plane to trying to make the most glitched plane. :S

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @BaconAircraft
    What use can a glitch possibly be in a mod class? Infinite engine power is already available.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @BaconAircraft
    XML scaling is allowed in mod class tournaments.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    @Quintasoarus
    0:39 I'd say. That said, my plane has serious reliability issues.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    Anyway, because I like early terror campaigns, I got 0:40 seconds so far. This race does little to restrict speed. Except for forcing me to fix my plane's balancing, perhaps.

  • Oceanview 7.7 years ago

    Yay! A new tournament. Let's see how many E-points this tournament will earn me.

  • Mehgjik-3-18 'Riyu-Elisa' 7.7 years ago

    @OtterOfToast
    I connect the tail to the main fuselage and then move the tail backwards using Fine Tuner.

  • Eagle Pass 7.7 years ago

    Pairings are up. The tournament can start any moment. :D

  • Eagle Pass 7.7 years ago

    Ah, the waiting, until the grand tournament starts... The best part. How I love the refresh button. Click click click...

  • Eagle Pass 7.7 years ago

    @MRstadlles
    KiNo is in the tournament.

  • Eagle Pass 7.7 years ago

    @CoBros2
    Using fine tuner to move parts is allowed, yes.

  • Eagle Pass 7.7 years ago

    @Hockeygoalie21
    Yours maybe not, but I've seen a lot of shakers (and non shakers) that carry a lot of fuel.

  • Eagle Pass 7.7 years ago

    I'm guessing that the fast majority of shakers that will be submitted in this tournament won't work because: 'All fuel is removed from your airplane at the start of the race.'...

  • Eagle Pass 7.7 years ago

    @MeetThyDoom
    But for this tournament, you will have to do it without fuel.
