Stop saying "FlyOut will replace SP" and here's why.

Comparing FlyOut to SP is like comparing a PC to a Laptop. In theory it's almost the same thing, but in practice it's not

Flyout is a 1GB game that needs a very good PC to run it good.
SP has less than half the RAM required than FlyOut.
SP can be run on PCs from 3 years ago, Those are pretty cheap today.
SP can be run on mobile, and no practical differences with the PC version. (Not only that, my 2016 2GB ram phone ran it with not much problems. This game can be ran on everything)
SP is a hell lot easier to learn

SP was not meant to compete with FlyOut. Just look at the game name: Simpleplanes. You are comparing an airplane game that everyone can play, from regions with less access to cutting-edge technology. As I said before, SP can be ran on absolutely everything. You school's Chromebook probably can run it fine.

SP will be very much alive at least for a few more years - by which time this game will probably be too old, and definitely dead, when more powerful PCs become affordable.

People have to remember how affordable Simpleplanes is. This, considering that SP is a spaghetti code cake, is a great achievement on the part of the Jundroo team. And all this still lasted for almost ten years (SP was launched in 2014, we are in the end of 2023!)

And above it all, FlyOut's only major improvement over SP is the cross-sectional editor. Tell me: How do you create a Abrams MBT on FlyOut? How do you create this in FlyOut? Or maybe this? the list simply never stops from going on

So, no. SP is not dying. It won't gain many players, but it will stay alive.

@Stinky as far as I know there are a lot of people who don't have Flyout or SP on their pcs or don't even have one at all and are on mobile

Also, FlyOut is NOT very performance demanding... I can run it on a 2015 MacBook pro at 60fps flat

Asteroid is right lmao. SP is an amazing game with an amazing community, But FlyOut is just superior. Its easier to use and MUCH more realism focused. SimplePlanes won't die, But most will flock to FlyOut, and thats how it is. FlyOut is just a better game.

I agree with almost everything. Although thinking that flyouts only major improvement is the cross section is false.
Flyout has very realistic physics. From stalling simlations, vapor depending on weather conditions, different air "thickness" depending on weather. Realistic delta wing simulation. Scale 1:1 earth like planet. Realistic water simulation, (too) realistic jet/piston engine settings. And theres more im probably forgetting.

    @5 huh, I'm running on a OnePlus 11. I don't need root to access the android/data folder.

@V that's weird all the no script map mods for Android works for me and I have android 13+MIUI 14, maybe if you're referring to installing mods to Android/data/com.jundroo.simpelplanes without root I just use mtp for that

@CoolPeach this is pretty much how I feel about it. The biggest reason I left SP is because it was too tedious for me to build specialized parts, such as airfoils. However Flyout is definitely limited in some areas but its already far easier to build odd shapes which is a dealbreaker for me.

    It will tho

On a more serious note, you definitely did put it in words that not many can. Comparing SP to FO is like comparing Digital Combat Simulator to ROBLOX's Plane Crazy.

I think that Flyout targets a subset of the audience in SP and it does it really well. What would take months to do in SP can be done in a few days on Flyout, and look a lot better too. Is there less flexibility? In some ways yes and other ways no, but as stated they are different games and that is a good thing. Whilst I agree that FT and logic control are far more developed on SP, I’m almost certain that such a feature will arrive to Flyout some day, given it’s only early days.
    .
So in the end, are SPs days numbered? Unfortunately probably, I think it would be naive to think not, especially given the end of its (very long and well supported) development cycle. I don’t really think I (or many other builders) want to return back to tedious fuselage panelling, nor do I even have the time nowadays, and that’s a dealbreaker for me. Whilst SP has been a great game, I’m happy to hang up my boots now that Flyout is here.

hmm, while Flyout can't replace SP, SP fell behind with CSE and Procedural engines that we've been asking for ages, sure, we can make them super detailed. but it takes me 1400 parts to recreate a Junkers Jumo 222 in SP while in Flyout I can do it with roughly 30 parts. something that SP does well is custom gauges and FT, giving you limitless posibilities on that end, but the learning curve is steep and no joke that you need actual programmers if you want to make something cool with FT... on the other hand, engine supercharging and prop settings are a bit messy in Flyout right now, but in SP, while I had to make an entire formula to link every subsystem of the engine, it works flawlessly. On The Other hand, Flyout takes the lead for good aerodynamics, in which the dev has put a lot of efort into, which reflects into havings somewhat accurate data on aircrafts, contrary to SP with the wacky physics and fuel consumption. hey, Flyout now has exhaust ports... that thing was an SP mod like 3 years ago or something... never got implemented ingame. both have pros and cons, SP for cockpit detailing, Flyout more for accurate flight model and better and easier fuselage modeling.

@V true, like seriously, sp is more fun because of the goofy ahh primitive unity physics, sp is probably one of the few games that you can actually push beyond its limits, and i like it that way
