A few nations did this to their planes in WWII like Germany and the BF-109Z and other models, and it was done to increase the aircraft range...
tho most other countries removed one of the cockpits, the US used the 2 pilots in rotation on long flights.
One pilot could relax or even sleep, while the other would fly the aircraft.
Some bomber Escort missions can take 2-4 hours of flying (some even more) quick video
@WaffleCakes The Air Force decided to put on an extra P-51 fuselage. This is because the Air Force wanted to give the P-51 more range and crew endurance for long range escort missions. The extra fuselage and more wing provided more lift, more thrust, more range, and a second pilot so the crew could take shifts. It was actually a genius idea.
The F-82? Yeah, but I don't know why they bothered, the P-47N had longer range. I guess 4 eyes are better than 2. It would seem that the second pilot could operate a radar set, so this is what replaced the P-61 for all-weather interception.
Yes twin P51 mustang
I like the unit cost estimate
Genetic duplication in a nutshell. Two for the price of one!

F-82 was a notorious interceptor/fighter, and P-51 was a perfect candidate for a duplex-type aircraft.
Why Not stick two good planes together :)
Yes, yes it does
Ive know about it for a long time, it could also carry 14 50 cals
Yeah I have some
Bruh, you didn't know??!! Shame...
Yep.

Yes, it’s actually quite well known about.
@RailfanEthan seriously,WHY would someone make this?!
you seem surprised
With two P-61s on the outside XD @WaffleCakes
@WaffleCakes Quadruple Apache, actually. The Mustang ran on Merlins, the P-38 and the Apache both had crummy old Allison V-12's.
@Chancey21 I was just thinking that!
@Chancey21 that would be like a QUADRIPLE MUSTANG!!!!
What if:
Twin P-38
XD
:o @WaffleCakes

@Zoomzoom999 well...here's a present for you...
Cool
I've known about this plane for about 6 months... people need to start making more of these. :)
