Republic P-47 Thunderbolt
This is the Republic P-47D-30-RA Thunderbolt, an American world war two fighter aircraft. This plane was prominently used by the Allied forces as a medium range escort fighter and as a fighter-bomber in ground attack roles throughout the war. 15,636 P-47’s were produced from 1941 to 1945 making it the most prolific fighter of the war. Initially, the P-47 had a razorback design, but this cause a severe lack of visibility to the rear and these planes were especially disliked by British pilots, this problem was solved with the introduction of the bubble-canopy in the P-47D-25-RA variant. This allows the aircraft to hold more fuel and fly faster earning the nickname the “superbolt”. The P-47 saw the bulk of its service in the European theatre, with only limited use in the Pacific. This was due to the lower elevation of engagement in the Pacific where the P-47 lacked mobility. Ironically The best P-47 Aces flew in the Pacific despite the disadvantage. The P-47 was armed with 8 50. Caliber machine guns and could carry up to 2,500 lbs of bombs. Later in the war, the P-47 was retrofitted with various types of rockets used to destroy ground targets.
Flight notes: This plane is pretty easy to fly. Right after takeoff, the nose will dip, but it levels out fairly quickly. The level top speed is 417 mph at 29,000ft (closest I could get to the actual 433 mph top speed), but in a dive, it can reach the upper 400s. Trim obviously controls trim, same with all the other controls. For taking off I recommend about 25% power, then once you're up to about 100 mph you can gun it. Landing is pretty hard with this plane especially due to the props large diameter, but for this, I recommend getting down to about 10% power until the landing gear touchdown, then lower power and feather the brake.
Other note: This plane took a while to build, but it was really cool to try a new style of wing and landing gear. I was thinking about putting decals and words and stuff on the plane but determined that adding too many parts would fry my computer and I really just wanted to get this plane published. If you guys want I can at some point make the razorback version. If you have any suggestions for future builds or how to make better build please let me know. Thank you.
Enjoy

Thooose stripes were ONLY used on d-day and the same aircraft never changed the paint job so a lot of planes uised that paint job for the rest of the war 2.5 years that's it
This thing can take a beating. I squared off with a Focke-Wulf Fw-109. We had an intense dogfight. Then the Focke-Wulf decided to ram the back of my plane. My plane stayed intact while the Focke-Wulf burned to death!!! :D Btw, I will shoot a deer, and watch it bleed to death!!! :D (I’m doing that to avenge grandma after she got ran over by a rain deer.)
@PilotOfXML yeah, I know I read the Wikipedia, and I think It was actually referring the P-47D variant which 12,000 were made, being the most produced single variant but what do I know haha
Sory I know too much history, but the spitfire actually had 20k produced.
This is my favorite plane on the website
This is my second all time favorite WWII plane ever. AND I LOVE THIS REMAKE! @ElSandman
Oh.@ForeverPie
@AerialFighterSnakes fuel dont leak
Does anyone one know how to get wings to leak fuel? I kept getting shot in the wings, but they just either catch fire or explode.
It's so beautiful
Beautiful! I haven’t been so attracted to a thunderbolt since piggy left haha
I never found a P-47 this good on this website.
@BlobfishMaster, Thanks for the suggestion, hopefully, it doesn't take too long lol
@Zippy6 First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to find issues and let me know. I'll take the star point and the wheel shine into account. I'll also try to make future landing gear smoother. As for the prop color, the prop tips were the same trim as the engine center so I had to choose one over the other.
@Zippy6 lol
Just a few criticisms. First, the wing roundel is facing the wrong way. The top most point of the star should be pointed forward. The tips of the props need to either be painted yellow or white. The wheels are also way too shiny. There is also some collisions on the landing gear when retracting and extending. Other than that that this is pretty nice.
Sweet!
Dang this thing can dodge a missile.
Noice. I can’t wait to give my enemy’s a taste of freedom with this thing. Forcast for today: Clear blue sky’s with a 100% chance of FREEDOM!!!
You made the perfect P-47 Congratulations !
Murcia
Very nice model with so many details. Except one thing: when the flaps down the nose down, too.
That’s awesome man!
very detailed plane
love it
@ElSandman 500 or lower is enough, no problem
