@spefyjerbf As far as how to "explode" the diagram, a simple spherical translation from the center of mass outwards would suffice, then you could zoom in on the lines to/from the pieces in question.

You want that detacher connected to the fuselage not the rotator? Well in schematic view you could specifically target that connection and edit it, or at the very least identify if it is or is not attached correctly.
@MrMecha There is typically no good single source for this information but there are things you can use to interpolate between reality and the game engine. Some things I do:
Google/reference books to find things such as stall speeds and AOA, airframe G-load tolerances, minimum radius turn, top speeds at sea level and at altitude, pitch and roll rates, etc.
Then I edit engine performance to match the speeds and climb rate as well as I can, edit wing size/shape to replicate the stalling characteristics, liftoff speed, and lift profile as well as I can, and edit control surfaces to match the pitch/roll rate and turn radius.
In terms of performance scaling we don't really have the tools to do it perfectly in SimplePlanes since we have no information in the UI/HUD showing things like AOA, G, etc. but we can approximate it closely enough for a low-fidelity sim engine like this.
I also did an example of some math to calculate the G felt in a turn/loop in the comments section of a YouTube video I posted. This is how I scaled one aspect of the performance of a fictional jet that I made.
@MrMecha thanks. It's important to me that all users are able to enjoy my builds. I think it's possible to get a respectable amount of detail while still being less than 300 parts for normal-size airplanes!

@jamesPLANESii Computers can handle network style diagrams with ease. Look at space sims like Elite Dangerous, the galactic map has trillions of systems all connected in a spiderweb. SP can surely handle 10,000 :)
Edit: Plus, from what I've seen, the average creation is <300 parts. Sure there are masterpieces out there in the thousands, but for general purpose we're not talking more than a few hundred.

Question: Do you use gyros to stabilize your planes? I'm interested in learning how to use them and how they are implemented in this game. I'm perfectly familiar with the physics of them in real life, just not sure how to do them in SP.
@Stingray I'm not sure I understand... all that the Activation group does for a missile is make it fire without lock on... is this strictly something that's important to do when using it as AI in a dogfight?
@TTHHSSSS saw your thrust vectoring jet, thought you might like flying this one too. This one's purely fictional, but built for the kind of handling your jet has.

@NativeChief1492 it trims at cruise speed, at slower speeds the trim is not enough to overcome but I can't change the trim range in XML. If I increased the range of the elevator then it exhibited some adverse roll tendencies. The majority of time is spent at cruise speeds though, so I opted to balance it best in that range.
@aircraftarsenal123 i was thinking the same about the details - few antennas, guns, exhaust, and a couple insignia. It lands very well! I cant wait to share it with everyone, its so much fun to fly.

I enjoy builds like this. FYI: You can add the following tag to each part's XML line to manually edit the weight:
massScale="X.X"
For example, if a 100 pound part reads:
....materials="14,11" scale="1,1,2.3"...
You can edit it to weigh 30 pounds by changing the line to read:
...materials="14,12" scale="1,1,2.3" massScale="0.3" ....

Pitch and yaw/roll would have been much easier to aim at those darn zombies with, but I managed to headshot them all regardless. Mad cool.

@aircraftarsenal123 What do you think I should do? My options are simple (for performance) or all-out (landing gear, decals, maybe cockpit).
Right now it flies like a DREAM. I'm worried if I start putting decals on it it's going to develop the dreaded yaw bug.

Inside the SimplePlanes folder you can backup the Aircraft and Subassembly folders.
If restarting the game doesn't work just reinstall it.
