@royalnoob Well, I've tried, but it is pretty unstable in flight with the extension arms and because the weight of the plane is way above the landing gear, it always wants to tip over. Now I've got the confirmation that it was right going without landing gear for a prop plane racer. :D You might add landing gear by yourself, but I wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't upload it. :)
@royalnoob Because of the rotors I have to make extensions for the landing gear. Those look very ugly, no matter how I make them. :D And also it adds drag, reducing speed and acceleration.
Georgeus! The CoM is a bit misplaced though. It has to be far more in the back so the craft remains maneuverable when the wings are swept back. The CoL moves backwards with the wings, so the CoM is further away then. The CoM creates a momentum around a horizontal axis, which is positioned at the CoL. The momentum gets bigger, the further the CoM is away from the CoL. The CoL is only displayed by SimplePlanes in the normal state, so you only see where it is when the wings are swept fully forwards. It's trial and error to get a good proportion of CoL and CoM on swept wing designs in SimplePlanes. The best way is to test it at full speed. With the wings swept fully forwards, it should pitch up and with the wings swept fully backwards, it should pitch down a tiny bit or stay level. But that is really the only thing someone could ever complain about it. Very great design! :)
I've found that maximum pitch may cause weird rolling and the Interceptor missiles may explode the craft when rolling into the direction of where the launched missile is attached. Let me know if you're experiencing the same and want a fix. :)
@Quintasoarus Thanks! :) Do you know where I could get a set of numbers? I am sure someone has made numbers already, but I can't find anything with the search function. Would be more handy than making some myself. :D
735-736 MPH topspeed on sea level right here. Won't make it a successor, as it has to be able to join the tournament. :D But as it has to land, I'll probably make a version with landing gear.
Pretty much finished now. Just needs some more power through XML-editing, the gun, the fin under the turbine and maybe some more details. If my design is appreciated, I might even give camouflage a try. :D Here are some more goodies for you:
@Skua I also need intakes for the VTOL-engine, which I need to simulate the rocket boosters. Probably have to put them somewhere where they aren't that visible.
@MediocrePlanes Wow, looks very fine, though not completely scale. :D I've done some work on mine. Engines aren't getting enough air, elevators still missing and the russian stars look kinda awful, but here are some shots:
@Skua The J90 on the front really does well aesthetically, but doesn't suck much air because of the cone. :)
@Quintasoarus I already nudged it pretty much. Smoother would be using fuselage pieces and defining the angle in the XML, so they form a pretty round inlet. @MediocrePlanes What exactly do you want to work on it? :D I hope you wouldn't steal it.
@Baldovino I know what you mean, but someone who doesn't know it yet will just read "weight reduction" and won't think of it that way...Just like with the fuel.
@JacobHardy64 So it shouldn't be that much of a time difference. Maybe the server missed you out and didn't update your limit. I'd wait until next day and try it out again. If it still doesn't work then, probably only a dev can help you with that.
@Baldovino The problem is you only said "weight reduction", which is not a bad thing by any means. That's what I wanted to tell you...The devs could misunderstand that.
@Seeras Bin schon dran.
@salvador3031 Maybe they drop out because they don't really like this type of game or they are unable to create something good. Not everyone is a pro at building planes and not everyone likes this type of games. :) In this race everyone has equal chances, no matter if he knows a thing about modding or not.
@Shmexysmpilot Monday again, I guess 10am CST, if nothing changes of course. But I thinks it's too early to give an exact date and time. They mentioned it in the stream if I remember correctly.
@salvador3031 On the Oceanview Speedway you said all the modded planes would make it harder for the new guys, now you're saying the opposite. I can't understand you. :D
@Baldovino Why not allow weight reduction? It's a part about building a good racer. This is not the "build the heaviest prop plane ever" tournament obviously. :D But I guess you mean via XML-editing, that's also forbidden like unlimited fuel tanks I think.
@TheGuyWhoFliesToGetHisPie I guess it is more a problem with your plane, though the AI also makes many mistakes if the aircraft is not really designed for it.
@Seeras We've got the same problem. Fixed it by positioning the rotors slightly further away from each other. No problems since then. The T1000 also needs to be placed in a fuselage no bigger than 1x1 and the diameter has to be above 100 inches. I am working with 120 inches and above, which works just fine. I've also made a video with a simple experimental plane to show the issue and how to work around it here. :)
@Shmexysmpilot That sounds very impressive. Hope it will show off it's performance in the tournament instead of losing just because of missed rings. :D

@royalnoob No, I meant the reason why you want one. :D I'd use the P-731 as base instead. It's more stable, more reliable and faster.
@royalnoob Didn't plan it yet, but it wouldn't be a problem. Just some minutes with testing. Why would you want one? :D

@Allstar upvoted it, so it must be a good replica. :D
@Quintasoarus @Skua @MediocrePlanes @CarlosDanger13 Here is the final version! :)

Cheers! :)
@MediocrePlanes Here is the current version with elevators, booster rockets, resized wings and resized rudder.
Also here's the real thing. I think my rudder is a bit too high. What do you think?
@Quintasoarus I already nudged it pretty much. Smoother would be using fuselage pieces and defining the angle in the XML, so they form a pretty round inlet. @MediocrePlanes What exactly do you want to work on it? :D I hope you wouldn't steal it.
@tacotime Thanks! :)

@AaronSonAirCrafts Same here. I only use XML for designing when I want something very special.
@AaronSonAirCrafts XML-modding for designing is allowed.
@JacobHardy64 The problem is I don't know which time-zone you are in and I don't know which time-zone the servers are in. :D
@Seeras Bin schon dran.
@AaronSonAirCrafts Still a very good craft way above average. :)
@JacobHardy64 It's probably still the same day where the time is beeing counted. That's the only way I could explain that.
@Skua But the cone will probably block it completely. I'll try that out anyways! Good idea. :)
Propeller z.B. :D
@Skua @MediocrePlanes @Seera @AgDynamics @FullFruntall @AaronSonAirCrafts :)
@AaronSonAirCrafts Even I can't give them better times on the courses. :D
@salvador3031 I thought you were talking about the game, not the race. :D
@salvador3031 Maybe they drop out because they don't really like this type of game or they are unable to create something good. Not everyone is a pro at building planes and not everyone likes this type of games. :) In this race everyone has equal chances, no matter if he knows a thing about modding or not.
@salvador3031 But beeing superior by having more skill is totally legit and should actually be rewarded. New players can also have much skill. :)
@JacobHardy64 I think this might show why you can't upload any more planes. Maximum of 5 submissions per day. :)
@salvador3031 I suspect someone will submit a car again. :D
@Baldovino Why not allow weight reduction? It's a part about building a good racer. This is not the "build the heaviest prop plane ever" tournament obviously. :D But I guess you mean via XML-editing, that's also forbidden like unlimited fuel tanks I think.

@TheGuyWhoFliesToGetHisPie No, also for races. Go to the "Sandbox" and then "Race against opponents".
@Seeras Tada!
@TheGuyWhoFliesToGetHisPie Tick the box which says "Computer Controlled" on the "PLAYER" aircraft and the "ENEMY" is always computer controlled.
@Shmexysmpilot That sounds very impressive. Hope it will show off it's performance in the tournament instead of losing just because of missed rings. :D

@Seeras Wie läuft's? :D
