Although a lil off on the details, it's P-38 enough for me~ I love twin boom aircraft!

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede Calm down, take a deep breath, my friend. lol It happens sometimes. How about a Junkers Ju-86E?

  • Red Sky 8.4 years ago

@UnknownNate Look at his previous builds then look at this one... Hmm..

  • Do-400-C Posiedon 8.4 years ago

@TheOwlAce I'm terribly sorry to hear that you will soon be losing your' father. I nearly lost my father just a couple months ago. I lost my mother suddenly and unexpectedly on September 12th, 2012 - the day the news brightly declared, "A Day of New Beginnings," due to the opening of Independence Tower. -_- She passed in her sleep and I was the third person to see her still on the couch, cold, stiff and with a grayish complexion. In a way I envy the fact that you have a warning, so you can say everything you want to say to him before he goes. At the same time time must seem to crawl as you agonize over the impending life altering event you cannot prevent. Two very different experiences, for sure, but I can relate to the fact that you are in pain and will soon lose someone you care deeply for. However, killing yourself on the eve of this tragic turn of events would devastate he and the rest of your' family. Surely they are just as stretched thin, emotionally, as you are.

  • Do-400-C Posiedon 8.4 years ago

@TheOwlAce I'd rather you not feel that way ... What's wrong?

  • Red Sky 8.4 years ago

I'm impressed, a new user that not only nudges but mods as well! Great build, keep up the good work~

I'm amazed at how much a user can improve in 23 hours. The MiG-21's proportions were lacking, showed no signs of nudging or modding! Wow! I guess I better work for another week or so, so I can catch up to Hyperloop, Flightsonic and LiquidFox skill levels!

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede P.24 might be easier since you can use a classic canopy with that one. Otherwise its much like the P.11c.

  • U-2-BX(FIXED SORRY) 8.4 years ago

@TheOwlAce lol You didn't mention that you have to hurry and activate CG1 and throttle up. It kept jumping out of the water and stall-gliding on me. Once it even beached itself - nose first! I need to save a spot somewhere away from land. XD I have a feeling this thing will be fun!

  • Do-400-C Posiedon 8.4 years ago

@TheOwlAce How much was taken? All of it?

  • XR-101 Sub-Orbital Fighter 8.4 years ago

@MisterMasada It does make wide turns but the propulsion system and flight surfaces intrigue me. I liked the fact that it didn't roll like crazy though a common problem with high speed designs I've seen. The armament was pretty cool too, simple, but it puts on a good show.

  • Do-400-C Posiedon 8.4 years ago

@TheOwlAce Gah, gonna keep me in the dark eh? lol I'm thinking about adapting my builds from my previous RP over to the aftermath of the Se Suomi Imperiumi/Das Germaniche Weltreich War. What WERE the terms of the surrender and what did they have to give up in payment for war reparations, did they receive any Treaty of Versailles style military limitations, etc?

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede How about something with fixed undercarriage, like the Fokker D.XXI or PZL P.11c?

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede You can move parts by small increments. Notice how your' canopies sorta perch on a centerpoint on a curved fuselage. Nudging allows you to slightly or entirely bury one part into another. All you have to do is hold down the shift button and use the following keys; A, S, D, Q, W, E.

    • A moves the part slightly to the left if looking at the airplane from the tail.
    • S moves the part slightly downward.
    • D moves the part slightly to the right if looking at the airplane from the tail.
    • Q moves the part slightly towards the tail.
    • W moves the part slightly upwards.
    • E moves the part slightly towards the nose.

Remember: You have to hold the shift key in while using this. If you have a part highlighted and strike one of those keys it will rotate the part instead. With this tool you can move your' canopies and parts behind them somewhat down into the fuselage to give it a nice flush appearance and it doesn't effect the cockpit view very much at all. Hope this made sense and can help you in the future!

  • XR-101 Sub-Orbital Fighter 8.4 years ago

Intriguing looking fighter, I'm going to have to give this one a check in the ole Sandbox! :-D

Update: This thing is fun!! A project to get back into the swing of SPs and you make a wicked fighter like this ... when will I GET into the swing of things on SPs?! lol Great work!!

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede O.O I just noticed something, I don't see nudging in your' work!! Has anyone taught you how to use it? You're a Windows player so its within your' capabilities...

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede Hmm. I looked at your' build list and noticed that you haven't built any float planes or seaplanes in some time. How about something like the Dornier Do-18 or Do-24T? Both WW2 types and should prove an interesting challenge~

  • Fuel Weights & Airfoil Questions Answered 8.4 years ago

@Thomasj041 @Somberbask No one held a gun to your' head and told you to read it~ lol As they say though, the devil is in the details. I post research or suggestion posts from time to time and I usually invest a great amount of time in assembling them. Ultimately the purpose is in the hopes of improving user experience by providing insight towards the tools we currently possess, provide detail that may help in future development of your' projects as fellow players and finally providing ideas to the developers of this magnificent game.

  • Do-400-C Posiedon 8.4 years ago

@TheOwlAce Oooh cool, I look forward to seeing that!! Can it actually dive then, and then what, go into orbit view?

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede lol That video had a lot of little quotes in it that was meant to be innuendo for that sort of thing. The Tadpole part and the commentary regarding size and what they resemble, just wow...

  • P-51 B-1 Red Tails 8.4 years ago

@ChaMikey Sweet!! I look forward to your' future works! ^_^

  • P-51 B-1 Red Tails 8.4 years ago

Beautiful Mustang build! Can we look forward to an Alison engined A-36 Apache potentially in the future? XD

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede lmao I learned a few things. Firstly; I'm not a frog. Secondly, some frog calls are truly grating on the nerves. Thirdly, a frogs idea of mating leaves much to be desired. Finally, that species that carries her young IN her back ... yikes ... -shudders- Have you ever heard of botflies? Yeah, that reminded me of their larvae. lol Bubbles is her/his name? My cat is Blondie, having been named that when he was young, we were convinced he was female ... but as it turned out well ... he just wasn't all that well endowed, however the name stuck. lol

  • Fuel Weights & Airfoil Questions Answered 8.4 years ago

@Shmexysmpilot Very possibly... le sigh ... but I can dream can't I? XD

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede Okay why that went into Itallics I dunno...

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede Wow, and you are this good!! Never ceases to amaze me what you young'uns can do! ^~ Whites Tree Frog? Interesting choice for a pet! I prefer cats, I didn't do well with a Salamander named Maverick and his successor, a turtle named Stormin' Norman (After Gen. Norman Schwartzkopf) - so I stick to my cat. ^^ I have a son that is a year and a few months your' junior!

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede Of course, I'll keep it as a file DL'd from you so it'll automatically register as being based on your' design and I'll add it to the description too. ^_^

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede I am an old fart that plays with digital legos I can fly, drive or steer through water - 38. lol May I ask how old you are?

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede Would you be opposed to my making a direct descendant to your' A-20? lol Then I could tell her, there, it's been done! XD

  • Douglas A-20 Havoc 8.4 years ago

@Stampede She doesn't play she just brought it up at random one day after poking around the model kit stash and she spotted my MPM 1/72 scale P-70 Nighthawk carton. XD

  • Fuel Weights & Airfoil Questions Answered 8.4 years ago

@Shmexysmpilot I think that's a reasonable compromise. Save space for another game but since it involves planes - the skybox shift would be a good addition. Another awesome feature would be climbing through to above the clouds, winds and/or storms below appearing at random with varying intensity. The Kraken proves this is technically feasible to some degree.

  • Do-400-C Posiedon 8.4 years ago

@TheOwlAce Sorry bud, it's another frontier I would like to conquor. Submersible carriers and submersible aircraft would be darn cool.

  • Pulley block 8.4 years ago

An interesting experiment though the lower pulley gets snagged on the chain and kinks in the chain form, this is why I've been advocating for a flexible length that can be adjusted for tension and flexibility to represent rope, cables or even whip antennae. For pulleys I think something like the adjustable tire linked to an engine or a rotator would be best.

  • Fuel Weights & Airfoil Questions Answered 8.4 years ago

@Supermini555 I see now, I have seen that from time to time but it didn't strike me as meaningful then!! Try that with Flat Bottom next time, its the next best to undercamber airfoils! ^_^

  • Fuel Weights & Airfoil Questions Answered 8.4 years ago

@Supermini555 Brilliant work! As I said, I'm not much of a car guy, but airfoils do still play a part with them and I might be able to learn something from that! How can you tell if a wing is inverted, by the way?

  • FW-195-G-2 (Nuremburg Squardron) 8.4 years ago

This is a fun one! I added a lil bit of weight in the nose though so she wasn't so wobbly on landing. I love me some bent winged birds, inverted or otherwise!! XD Before my adoration for the B-17 surpassed it, the F4U Corsair was my sweetheart~ lol

Sheesh, this one's armed to the teeth too!!

  • Alternate WWII: At least 30 to ride 8.4 years ago

@MikuKat My thoughts exactly... Here I was expecting a story that didn't result in glow in the dark countries in the aftermath. Considering that the Germans were closer to completing the A-Bomb than the US, prior to the destruction of their research facility in Norway in true history, by '47 they most assuredly would have had them. Even if that were deemed untrue, this is a quote from Wiki; "During the war, Germany stockpiled tabun, sarin, and soman but refrained from their use on the battlefield. In total, Germany produced about 78,000 tons of chemical weapons." Delivery devices included; 105 mm and 150 mm artillery shells, a 250 kg bomb and a 150 mm rocket. Hitler had to be talked out of using them against the allies for fear that they had developed their own neurotoxins when in fact they had not. An air burst of Sarin gas or Tabun gas, via bomb delivery, could kill tens to hundreds of thousands depending on population density. Sarin is described as being 26 times more deadly than cyanide. Soman is both more lethal and more persistent than sarin or tabun.

  • VL Ukkonen (Thunder) Strategic Bomber 8.4 years ago

Thanks @cats though I feel this may be a pity vote considering how amazing that Stirling of yours' is! XD

  • Fuel Weights & Airfoil Questions Answered 8.4 years ago

@Supermini555 If it were only so simple, SPs has made it so that airfoils automatically orient themselves with the bottom of the airfoil towards the bottom of a design. We presently have Symmetrical, Semi-Symmetrical and Flat Bottom Airfoils. In airplanes symmetrical is best for high speed. Semi-Symmetrical is a happy medium between speed and lift. Flat Bottom is more lift than speed. Undercamber airfoils are not presently an option in this game, however undercambered airfoils provide evel less towards speed but give amazing lift. This is what allowed many of the extremely low HP WW1 aircraft to actually fly and gain altitude. I fear that with the game engine as it presently defines airfoils of any kind, used as a spoiler on a car, would actually create lift as opposed to downward pressure.

I noticed the color shift too. Now I can only get the colors I want via XML modding my custom color palette.

  • Short Stirling MKI (improve version) 8.4 years ago

@cats -points to the right of the screen- ^_~ Indeed it earned my seal of approval!

  • New features? 8.4 years ago

Don't forget adjustable size drop tanks to draw off of first, before internal fuel payloads via an AG and droppable from a standard pylon! :-P

  • Short Stirling MKI (improve version) 8.4 years ago

Lovely build of the Stirling!! Great work!

  • VL Pyörremyrsky 8.4 years ago

@VladCelTroll I just took a gander at your' list of builds, are you one that frequents the Luft46 site? You earned yourself a follower, amazing work, above and beyond anything I've built to date! ^_^

  • Fuel Weights & Airfoil Questions Answered 8.4 years ago

@Supermini555 Actually that was brought up below in comments! lol Now, how to invert an airfoil, that's beyond me... First we'd have to obtain undercambered airfoils I suppose? ;-)

  • Fuel Weights & Airfoil Questions Answered 8.4 years ago

@ChaMikey I'll take a look at your' latest builds to see. The one issue I have with that though is the added weight. As stated above, our 'universal fuselage block' I believe has gotten heavier since the "SimpleCars" update. A 0.25x0.25x0.25 block is now 11 Lb as where I -think- it used to be a 1x1x1 block that was 11 Lb; Now that same block is 27 Lb. The airfoils are already 22 Lb even for the smallest surface and increase by area. (I admit I have not researched how the weight of that is calculated.) Having to add fuselage blocks to obtain the appropriate shape which we've already selected seems a bit ... counter productive unless they want to knock that weight down as just a wing spar/control surface style weight. The ONLY drawbacks I see to introducing actual airfoil shapes is the thickness of the wingroot but that could be regulated by the length in direct contact with the fuselage and of course applying markings to a curved surface.

  • Fuel Weights & Airfoil Questions Answered 8.4 years ago

@Shmexysmpilot 70 angels then, so probably, depending on atmospheric conditions, 65+ angels you'd be able to see that. I think that would be a GREAT effect. I don't know how many times I've flown up to over 100 angels, which is generally regarded as the border to orbit and wondered about that. Good info though, hopefully one day Jundroo can implement it.

  • Masterpiece G1 Optimus Prime-(improved) 8.4 years ago

@Johnnycat1357 Yes, that he did, originally a very realistic looking Colt .45, back before toy guns had to have the orange cap on the tip! I remember begging and pleading with my mother for Megatron as we spotted him in a Toys R Us in Cali back in the early '80s. I want to say that he was almost entirely cast metal because that box was heavy and the finish didn't look plastic.
