Thank you! I was trying to build a plane that would be just fine if the pilot fell asleep at the controls haha. @randomusername

Actually the one bit of constructive criticism I can give you is that the roll rate is a bit too slow. Did you try adding ailerons to one of the wing sections farther outboard?

  • B.B Birdie 6.5 years ago

Wow, fantastic!! Looks way better than the last one, flight characteristics are perfect, the motion of the body/tail and especially the wings are incredible! You did a great job man I love it!

Yeah it’s the XI. Although I took different bits from different variants of the XI, and also some bits I fudged/made up. Which is why it’s not really a replica, even though I make it clear (through the name or otherwise) that it is practically a rough replica. Actually, that’s what I do with pretty much all my builds haha. I hope one day I will be skilled/creative enough to design my own plane from scratch hahaha. @KerlonceauxIndustries

Hey, by the way; are you still working on that bush plane? How’s it going? You haven’t posted it publicly yet have you? I’d love to see how it’s coming along! @XjayIndustrys

  • Blurry Eyes 6.5 years ago

Okay, sweet thank you! That is very helpful. Oh and by the way, I really really love the cockpits you’ve made. That was one of the main reasons I got really into building planes in SP to begin with. It helped me transition from just casually building rudimentary builds to building more serious and intricate builds (especially cockpits, which I feel is an essential part of a great plane). So thank you very much for that! @Sarpanitu

Meee tooo. I was into the 3D single rotor thing a few years back (not that I was all that good at it haha) and also the little ones. I really liked the Blade series; the 400, the mcpx, msr, and nano cpx. Actually I used the msr the most haha. Anyway, I had this change happen in my life and got rid of all of them like a dummy. Now all I’ve got is a tiny little quad that I bought on sale at office max, I don’t even know the brand hahaha. Oh well it’s still fun! @LiamW

  • Plantraco MonsterFly 6.5 years ago

This thing is sweet! Seems like you’d have to be very precise in order to get a plane that flies this well/easy with just throttle and rudder. But hey, throttle and rudder is all you really need! Just like in life, amirite? Haha

The only other thing I could think of that would make this thing even slightly better is if you could somehow incorporate a trim function. But it’s not really an issue at all, it would just be a luxury haha. @Hyattorama

  • Baja Buggy WIP 6 6.5 years ago

Absolutely! Also, if you’re making requests... maybe you could make one of these with some nice soft, mushy, floppy fully independent suspension with lots of body roll and extra suspension travel? Haha. That’s how I like my off-roaders in SP :)@LiamW

  • Howard H.P.W. 3400 (update) 6.5 years ago

Wow thanks man! What a great review! I’m pretty happy with how she turned out too haha. Yeah, the landing gear is funky, but that’s how they fold up on the real plane (Sikorsky s-38). Except on the real plane there’s a strut that attaches on the outside of the wheels, which I couldn’t figure out how to do. And yeah, I was a little disappointed about the interior... I had a lot of plans for it but my phone couldn’t take the part count and it was just constantly crashing. So I had to leave the cockpit and cabin sorta half-finished. Maybe if I get a better machine down the line I’ll come back to it... I also had some sweet radial engines to put on there but the part count again was just wayyy too high :( but I am using that radial engine on my next build ;)
Thank you again for the kind and thoughtful words, I really enjoyed reading that :) @XjayIndustrys

This jet looks killer! Flies nice, too. It seems like a lot of jets in this class have a lackluster/unsatisfying pitch rate. Not this one though, especially with the canards. I’m not very good with guns or combat flying but this one seems like it would be quite effective. It could use a bit higher fuel capacity though... maybe one of those detachable external tanks? Good work!

  • Antonov Izdeliye 181 6.5 years ago

Really interesting looking plane, very creative, I dig it, great job! Sweet landing gear too, especially the front. Well-composed and satisfying flight characteristics. And this plane is just begging to have a detailed cockpit installed behind that nice, huge, empty bubble windscreen nudge nudge ;)

Sweet build! Looks both mechanical and organic, which is cool. Creative, fun to fly, functions better than many SP ornithopters I’ve seen. It does have a slight exploding problem it seems, but still, great job man, way to go!

Ah, okay, got it. Thanks for the info, that’s really helpful. It’s really important to me to make sure the right users get the credit and recognition they deserve when I use something of theirs. Especially because it’s usually something that I don’t know how to do/make. And I hope I get notified if I forget and leave someone out cause I’m always worrying about that. @Minecraftpoweer

  • Can someone help me with a scale problem? 6.5 years ago

Hey, actually I’m building an ultralight, and I’ve used your Martin Bluebottle (which I completely adore btw) as a reference. So I wanted to ask you; what was your process? Did you build it big and then scale the whole thing down with fine tuner? And did you change mass and drag scale with Overload on some parts beforehand? Also, I really hope you get a chance to see my build, and hear what your opinion is, since you are one of the SP gods to me hahaha. @Chancey21
