An analogy: Making a replica is like building a Lego set using the instructions, while making a fictional plane is like starting from scratch with a pile of spare bricks and your imagination.
@Sm10684 alright, I don’t have the capacity to argue anymore, and I’m starting to see insight in your point.
But one last thing: if you really wanted the SP devs to respond to this, why couldn’t you have just tagged all of them from the start? If Andrew doesn’t respond, even WNP78 is still quite active! And like you said, even a reply from the devs would shut everyone here up!
@Sm10684 I don’t think the devs are the kind of people who post without announcing a new feature, because they are not giving up on their passion, and want to work on it too. The last thing they want is to say that they are giving up, which is basically what delaying means.
@Sm10684 alright; your point is that Jundroo isn’t paying attention to its games. But the question is: can it?
Jundroo is not Microsoft, Rockstar or EA. It is an indie game company, with a team of less than 10 people, all of which have to not only fix thousands of bugs and research new features, but have to handle their families. They have lives, you know.
Big game companies delay features because they’re stingy, while indie companies simply don’t have the capacity to. Jundroo falls in the second category, not the first.
@Sm10684 yes, maybe the User Voice here feels neglected, but so is Juno’s. You can look at their roadmap and see that 90% of the suggestions there are labelled as “shelved”. Even the Juno users complain about this exact thing.
My point? Delays aren’t exclusive to SimplePlanes. Game dev is not easy and from my experience with creating, both here and outside SimplePlanes, there are always some annoying things that prevent what you want from being completed, because real life is immensely complicated. At least appreciate what the SP devs have managed to will into existence; it definitely wasn’t a smooth road. I addressed this before, and I’ll do it again.
@Sm10684 you may be a car builder, but remember that this at heart is an airplane game, even though car parts exist, and hence this game is treated as such. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have kept its name.
@Sm10684 you constantly say that the SP devs have abandoned the game.
So what? Does it hinder your ability to play the game in any way? Does it prevent you from creating masterpieces? If it were just about SP being neglected, you wouldn’t complain so much.
You want the devs to pay more attention to SP. What happens when they do that? A new update.
Hence, isn’t this your ultimate goal? Besides, you yourself have just admitted that you like the idea of a new update.
That one person who downloaded it:
Also, click on the left/right arrow at the top of the fuselage editor and you can change the width and height of the fuselage, and use fuselage cutting.
“we don’t have anything to share at the moment” = we’re not currently working on it.
Go read my original comment that explains why this is not the case.
Also, like Strucker said, even if there was a new update, would it make you want to play it more? I doubt so. Just give yourself a few months after the next update, and you’ll be whining for the next one.
And before you complain about what you don’t have, be grateful for what you do. Just 2 years ago, there was no glass fuselages, fuselage cutting, joysticks, seats, realistic cockpit windows, gauges, levers, switches and text labels. Heck, 2 updates before that, there weren’t even helicopter rotors, and Overload was still a mod! All this features, that you get to enjoy now, are what users of the past lacked, so be grateful for what you have.
And this brings me to my last point: you have forgotten what SimplePlanes really is: a building game. True builders do not play SimplePlanes to get hyped up on new features every year, but because they enjoy building! Look, remember how I mentioned all those parts not existing just a couple of years ago? How, then, have so many users managed to keep on building all these years, without quitting? It is because they enjoy building. Only those who really enjoy building will be able to put in their maximum effort into making their creations, despite all the challenges that surround them. Even now, this spirit of overcoming SimplePlanes’s constraints lives on. Just look at the hundreds, even thousands, of vanilla tank tracks that have been made. All the while, people complain on every single one of Andrew’s posts for Jundroo to add tank tracks into the base game. You can see the obvious difference between the two parties: the ones who complain endlessly, and the ones who actually do something, because they play SimplePlanes to build!
So, I don’t know why you should get all whiny about Jundroo not posting updates. It may not be the point of this forum post, but I can see from your narcissistic comments saying “oh, the devs have abandoned us”, “oh, SimplePlanes is dead”, that the party that you’re on is obvious; the one who complains without doing anything. Remember all those people who waited 4 whole years for fuselage cutting, yet continued to produce masterpieces nevertheless.
No, rest assured that development is not dead. I know we've been quiet on SP for a while, but we just don't have anything to share at the moment. Game dev is a slow process with many dead ends.
If that doesn’t mean “we’re working on it”, I don’t know what does.
There's no requirements for starting a challenge; in fact you could make one right now. To reward multiple upvotes (e.g. 10 upvotes), you upvote 10 of their posts.
@Johnnyynf sorry for the late reply, but I think your mouse isn't compatible because the controls on the mobile and PC versions are completely different (at least from my observations). This means that the mobile controls are only designed for touchscreens, not mice, and vice versa, so you won't be able to use a mouse on your tablet.
@NARGII Juno has frequent updates because it’s been completely made into a brand-new game, so there are tons of bugs that the devs need to fix as soon as possible. They state it themselves. Besides, Juno, being rebranded, is getting a whole new wave of interested players, and announcing updates is a way to keep the hype up.
As a result, the devs don’t have a lot of time to spend here, and SP, having “matured”, has more or less settled down, not requiring frequent updates.
Game dev is hard, hence making a new feature needs a lot of research and development, that's why it's always a slow process. SimplePlanes is not like those trash 0 effort free mobile games that churn out updates once a month. Sure, you may get many updates, but each one is worthless. What I feel is that when the SP devs want to make a new update, they want to do it right.
And yes, the devs have heard every single one of your comments, both on here and on User Voice, and of course they know what features you all want. But here's the thing: will you say that you'll build a mansion when you don't even have land to build it on? No!
Likewise, the SP devs cannot guarantee any features with certainty right now, because reality is always unexpected. Like I said, R&D takes a while, and I believe that they're in that stage right now. Hence, they're not gonna announce anything yet. What if the devs announce a new feature, only to admit later that it doesn't work, and they can't release it? I bet that you guys would be much more upset about this!
And FYI, Andrew has recently said the equivalent of “we’re working on it”, but contrary to your point, it has not shut everyone up.
Not to be that guy, but if you don’t know how to build a cockpit, learn. Even if you don’t read/watch tutorials, you can always download other people’s planes and see how they do it. And if you don’t know what the cockpit interior should look like, there are tons of reference images that you can find with a quick search on Google.
Everything can be learned; it’s just a question of whether you want to learn.
Although if someone is willing to make a P-2 for you, I have no objections.
Okay, I don't really want to rant, since there are comments right below that perfectly explain my point, but it seems that no one bothers to read these days.
Just. Stop. Begging. For. Updates.

I bet that you guys would be much more upset about this!
And addressing the feature and mod requests, there are a few limitations to the SP devs implementing features.
1: Performance
Remember, by Jundroo's standards, a mobile game must work on all smartphones. Yes, even those bricks of iPhone 6s. So when the devs release a new feature, they must make sure that it can run on each and every smartphone. Which is tricky, since iPhone 6s have really low endurance, considering the battery age of most units.
You may argue that they could make features exclusive to new smartphones, which is practically impossible. Furthermore, there are still people who use old phones, and of course Jundroo wants to be inclusive to everyone. Hence, any new features will have to be mobile-friendly.
2. Legal issues
Now, some people may argue: Ok, no features. But why can't Jundroo just add mods into the base game?
My answer: these mods are made by a 3rd party.
Because each individual has copyrights to their mods, if Jundroo attempted to implement these mods, they would probably be sued by the authorities for copyright infringement. Imagine a game where none of its features actually belong to the developers, but instead are owned by a bunch of individuals. Total chaos. Hence, as mods implemented into the base game become features themselves, only actual devs can actually implement them.
An example of this is WNP78, who was one of the early mod makers and was responsible for Overload, FineTuner and DesignerSuite. Only after he was personally hired by Jundroo and became a dev, he could port his mods into the base game. Hence we have those mods on mobile, despite mod support for Android being removed since 1.8.
TL:DR
Game dev is hard. If you think it's so easy, do it yourself.
Research and development takes a long time, hence Jundroo can't guarantee any new features yet.
Quality over quantity. Better having 1 good update after 2 years than 0 effort updates every month.
Performance and legal issues prevent mods and features from rolling out so easily. Remember, if it were so easy, we would have them long ago.
So what's the conclusion? Be a little thoughtful, and wait. When the next update comes, it will definitely be great.
@jamesPLANESii fear not, SimplePlanes will have subscriptions very soon! All the extra money goes to making the next update! In fact, you can preorder the subscription here!
