@Dracul0Anderson I had not even originally thought about spotlights. I think it's 1 spotlight per 5 minutes. It's doable for me. I think 4-8 spotlights just from me is possible for the main prize... Provided I can actually do that.
@windshifter1 no. It doesn't disqualify you. I don't have to worry about self promotion since that's by default not allowed. If you use an alt, I'll hold you accountable for breaking Rule 8 which prohibits any type of cheating and disqualify on that basis.
I'll start a discord server by tomorrow for the people who have volunteered to upvote. Over Time, after that, I may be able to increase the upvote prize, but I'll have to discuss that with you all.
@SupremeDorian I'll prerequisite with this --- I'll never myself abuse the system.
Now, that said, the irony of that whole ordeal is that the rules for the site don't state that you are not allowed to use alts to help other players. It has a clear rule stating against Upvoting yourself but nothing for Upvoting someone else. So even if I went through with that plan, I'd have all the reasons to defend myself this time around.
But massive respect to you for confirming that we'll in advance. I appreciate that. Helps with the clarity... I'll just really REALLY have to setup that discord and get whoever those 5 are (I don't remember everyone's names) and just start the discussion of how we go about this and if everyone will have the time.
@Graingy again, true. At the end of the day, the super hard challenge is meant for those who want to test their experience.
The easy challenge is mustering up the courage to make and submit something and get some value out of it... And maybe hype up simpleplanes two a little. This is likely going to be the last big challenge for Simpleplanes 1
@SupremeDorian I did though? And I'm not going to be using alts either way. I've gathered 5 volunteers to help, and even if they don't help, I'm ready to do it alone, all by myself, one account. Besides, @Skyjaythefirst has fully confirmed he's definitely in on this.
Also, to support the claim of asking mods before uploading the challenge, check here I tagged Crazyplaness once. And after that, tagging any mod became redundant since volunteers came out and said they'd help instead.
@Graingy huh? If you have sub assemblies that you can take from your own previous planes that already have the complex spaghetti codes already written (Exhibit A - Controls surfaces, Engines, cockpit setups) then that's going to save you shit ton of time.
@Graingy fair point on that, one again. But I've thinking about criteria based prizes too... So if you're one particular category is good, then a bonus of 30 upvotes, so 50. But I can't confirm that yet
@DeeganWithABazooka GO ALL ON BROTHER. LET'S SEE WHAT YOU GOT.
Also, I'm probably going to revamp this page a little to look better and account for all those spelling errors.
No major changes in rules and regulations though.
@Dracul0Anderson nope. That's going to be its own thing. I want to make this for discussion with upvoted boards, a place for players to share progress and maybe chat a little after the challenge ends and the anticipation for the results build. The forum post that will cover the strengths and weaknesses is going to be independent.
@11qazxc actually, frick the adding text, I'll do that, but I'll also work on revamping all those images AND keeping the size low. These current images really need a revamp. I mean, they look okay, but don't match with the theme and need a rework. I'll probably keep all the rules and words the exact same- add one or two clarifications, more imagery about what kind of jet we looking for, such and such. All details that won't affect what players have already started working on. Also, let me know if you want to join a discord server specifically for this challenge
When you said vector engines I was confused. I thought you meant seperate engines just for pitch vector control. If you meant thrust vectoring nozzles like on the F-22, then, of course, those are absolutely allowed!
And encouraged too. You cant really outdo an F-22 without outdoing it's engineering.
@JSTQ oh trust me, I've used many before. I just didn't upload any of those because I was never satisfied using engines as... "Cheats" when you could do the same with actual control surfaces.
The closest I got to using engines is this, which is less engines, more Gyros specifically tuned to be like limiting agents for post stall maneuvers is this
@JSTQ wait, vector engine???? What do you mean? You cant use fakery. You'll lose innovation points AND Realism and believablilty. Be careful. No real plane just has space for tiny engines to make corrections, so unless you have a proper lore explanation, don't risk fakery like that. Make it proper aerodynamic control surfaces that limit those vectors.
@JSTQ you'll just lose points for that particular criteria. That doesn't disqualify you. It just makes it really difficult to win since you automatically made yourself lose 40 or so points.
@MobileBuilder21 we definitely need to have discussions on discord or something along those lines about all of this. I believe other than me, there's 3 others who want in on whatever is going on to because they'll be helping with Upvotes.
I'll be sleeping now. I'll answer your questions early in the morning ASAP. If I don't answer you in time, I'll extend the deadline a little for you specifically.
Challenge STARTS countdown at 00:00 GMT, 21st of April, 2025, ends on 00:00 GMT 16th May, 2025.
@11qazxc for oscillations, I'll be checking if the plane has the adverse effect of using over sensitive limitors and starts oscillation due to over correction at any given speed. Notice how there is no particular speed requirement and it's just so long as it's still plausible (so atleast mach 1.4+... We are making a "next gen" after all)
Perfectly level is just checking pitch, roll and yaw angle when inputs are dead. If it all stays lower than a forgiveable threshold (-+2 degrees), then you get as close as possible to max marks.
@Boeing727200F I added another slide with more clarification on what me saying that means. I'll be a little more careful about stuff like that. Let me know if you see anything else that's not properly clarified.
@ZeroWithSlashedO see, I'm interested in just pushing people to the limit. The Upvotes don't really matters that much to most people who'd participate... It's just a really big prize compared to the usual. As long as you're ready to use your expertise to the max within a 25 days time period, you're good to enter
@ToeTips it has to be a successor
+1@ToeTips lucky you then... But once again, that's 1/4th points gone.
Still, I wish you the best, brother. Im excited to see the final result!
@ToeTips post that, and get no points in D4 and B2. So 200 points Nerf :>

+1@Dracul0Anderson before you get around uploading it, pass it over as an unlisted to me so I can take some pictures for you.
@Dracul0Anderson 😶
+1Jesus Christ... Okay.
@SupremeDorian I'll prerequisite with this --- I'll never myself abuse the system.

+2@Graingy huh? If you have sub assemblies that you can take from your own previous planes that already have the complex spaghetti codes already written (Exhibit A - Controls surfaces, Engines, cockpit setups) then that's going to save you shit ton of time.
@Graingy or lots of saved sub assemblies... Which I actually don't discourage taking sub assemblies at all and doesn't affect points in any way.
@FordEscort id love to join in and help on the videos if that ever happens. Could make some reallllyyyy cool shots
@Graingy fair point on that, one again. But I've thinking about criteria based prizes too... So if you're one particular category is good, then a bonus of 30 upvotes, so 50. But I can't confirm that yet
@Graingy good point... But you get repaid in me taking time judge your craft and credit you for what you did good, and criticise what can be better
@Graingy who said?
You can make a really bad plane and get 20 upvotes for basically free AND get criticism... What are you losing?
@DeeganWithABazooka GO ALL ON BROTHER. LET'S SEE WHAT YOU GOT.
Also, I'm probably going to revamp this page a little to look better and account for all those spelling errors.
No major changes in rules and regulations though.
@TheUltimatePlaneLover all the best! Excited to see what you come up with.
@TheBoeingEngineer Wrong. There are 5 other actual people who'll help with the upvotes
@Dracul0Anderson nope. That's going to be its own thing. +1@JSTQ sorry! I'm big on science fiction and speculative fiction... So I thought it was that, my bad!
+1@JSTQ wait, do you mean thrust vector engines?
When you said vector engines I was confused. I thought you meant seperate engines just for pitch vector control. If you meant thrust vectoring nozzles like on the F-22, then, of course, those are absolutely allowed!

I should probably also make that a rule
+1@JSTQ you'll just lose points for that particular criteria. That doesn't disqualify you. It just makes it really difficult to win since you automatically made yourself lose 40 or so points.
+1@JSTQ no, but major points increase if is.
+2@JBPAviation all the best 😭
+1@BoredDeffy yeah. I'll make one by tomorrow's time
@MobileBuilder21 we definitely need to have discussions on discord or something along those lines about all of this. I believe other than me, there's 3 others who want in on whatever is going on to because they'll be helping with Upvotes.
first update :
Considering discord server for the challenge.
@DeeganWithABazooka welp, np. I'd say give it a try, there is nothing to lose. Everyone wins 20 upvoted and gets insight about their submission.
@11qazxc also, for the internet thing, I'll put it all in text by tomorrow.

@Erionh I'll try my best. Share it with people whom you wanna compete with if you're participating!

@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 no problem, encourage those who'd probably want to.
@Boeing727200F you can actually use that if you want. But it has to still be believable, D3.

Tags are from the recent discussion forum post where I stated "Upvoted if you want to be updated when the challenge is out"
@DrakonDynamics this is like the one challenge where literally everyone wins something. Give it a chance.
Or just let your friendoes know it exists. That's fun too. Hope you get to see something nice come Outta this!
I would like to clarify, all tests will be on high physics settings!
Also, all participant builds will be given some love on a forum post once result are out.
As the clock ticks, changes may be made to some of the criteria or rules. If that does happen, more time will be given
@dabestsock which one?
