    @ChallengerHellcat A flying aircraft carrier? That sounds interesting.

  • VX-38 UCAV 6.3 years ago

    @Texasfam04 Oh ok, nice to know.

  • VX-38 UCAV 6.3 years ago

    No problem, nice shape on that fuselage you've got there.

  • Cuneus II 6.3 years ago

    @Spectre2520 Not as far as I know. I've hit it with 200 Boom 50s to no effect.

  • Wolfhound 6.3 years ago

    @NicePlanes Thank you. As far as I'm concerned, it's good to not be too good at expressing emotion.

  • Cuneus II 6.3 years ago

    @ChickenMcNuggets007 The differences are caused by drag. If you keep the drag points about the same as the demo aircraft, it will fly the same. It's also important not to add mass to the build.

  • Sentinel 6.3 years ago

    @Spectre2520 I just happened to reload the page just as you posted. Couple of things, yaw is reversed and the landing gear are too far back.

  • Cuneus II 6.3 years ago

    @REXTHEDINO Hmm, I'll think about it.

  • Orca II (SP Scaled) 6.3 years ago

    @Freerider2142 You're welcome. Interesting build and good presentation.

    @CRJ900Pilot thanks

    @Nzlcafa I don't think you'll be able to import curves from any other software. The Y-value defines the increment in slope for each block. So if you have:

    0,0.25;1,-0.005;51,0;60,-0.0002;

    This translates to:

    • at the zeroth point, the slope should be 0.25;
    • from the next point until the 50th point, the slope should decrease by 0.005 for each successive block;
    • at the 51st point, stop changing the slope;
    • starting at point 60, decrement the slope by 0.0002.

    If, instead of copying and pasting the control points above in one go, you type them in manually, you'll be able to grasp how it works. A positive number gives you a line curving upwards; a negative number gives you a line curving downwards.

    The thickness of each block is automatically determined by the Number of segments and y-Scale fields. If you set the y-Scale to 100 and the number of segments to 400, each block will be 0.25 units thick. Use thicker blocks for shallow curves, and thinner blocks for sharper curves.

    @DeathStalker627 Well, a sci-fi spacecraft, anyway.

  • Wolfhound 6.3 years ago

    @CenturiVonKikie Well, a Mirage + MiG-21 derivative to be exact, but yes. In the future, some aviation enthusiasts have nothing better to do than recreate classic designs with modern technology.

    @ViciousTNT I have made plenty of low part count builds. Hundreds of them. If people really wanted those, they would upvote them a lot more. But the same people who complain that a build has too many parts, fail to upvote the low part count versions. So why should I care?

  • Smooth Shape Generator 6.3 years ago

    @Nzlcafa That's true. Unfortunately, there are way more stupid people than intelligent ones, and so there's much more money to be made by pandering to the dumb masses. As a result, we live in a society that panders endlessly to dumb people ("Mash F to win"), which gives them an undeserved self-confidence and a dangerous complacency. Dumb people these days are so arrogant, they feel free to attack those smarter than them, just for existing.

    @Texasfam04 Thanks. I wish the devs would provide more ways to make cool exhausts and nozzles, instead of the few pre-set options we have at the moment. It would be great to have a 'jet nozzle' part with configurable start radius, end radius, and number of feathers. I wish they'd gone in that direction with SR2 as well.

  • Smooth Shape Generator 6.3 years ago

    @Nzlcafa Yeah, I don't know why they haven't done that already. Although if most of the user base is on mobile devices, that would explain it.

  • Vector 6.3 years ago

    @Nzlcafa Nice. I've always been interested in architecture.

  • Wolfhound 6.3 years ago

    @Spectre2520 You really think I'm that dumb?

  • Vector 6.3 years ago

    @Nzlcafa Pretty much. Are you a 3D modeler?

    @Stingray Well, you can't be too careful with data. You should only be embarrassed if one of those backups isn't off-site. I just lost a hard drive (the fifth one that's died on me), and without backups I'd have lost a great deal of my life's work.

    what many see as unnatural, (and low-poly) UFO-like planes that would be unlikely to be found in the real world.

    There you go again, with your assumptions. Have I ever said that my ambition was to build real, or realistic airplanes? I'm building exactly what I want to build. You don't like it, that's fine. But keep your opinion to yourself unless I ask for it, okay?

    He puts actual effort into his creations while barely using the script at all.

    Ahh yes, the good old peasant mindset. "Manual labour good, brain work bad!" says the peasant. I'm curious, when you get older, what kind of work do you intend to do? By your philosophy, digging ditches with your bare hands is the highest, most praiseworthy kind of work. I hope you enjoy that, while I sit in my air-conditioned office and do more with a few keystrokes than someone like you could do with weeks or months of labour.

    To recap: I have zero respect for your position that using a script is "cheating," and even less respect for someone who uses it while still belittling it.

    Why apologise? Why not draw the obvious conclusion, that you are far beneath me in terms of ability in more than one field, and therefore you are in no position to offer me advice? Since you've felt free to give me unsolicited feedback, here's some in return: Know. Your. Place.

    @PyrusEnderhunter You're really bad at reading comprehension, aren't you... I've never denied that I have a big ego -- considering my achievements (I'm not just talking about SP) I certainly deserve it -- but that isn't the point of my comment. The point is that to use a tool and deride it at the same time is hypocritical and intellectually dishonest in the extreme, and anyone who does that should be ashamed. That is all.

    also, I think what sarpanitu means

    Try to understand this: I don't care what you think. I didn't ask for your opinion. I just looked at your portfolio and your builds are thoroughly underwhelming for someone who's been playing as long as you have -- but I have the maturity and good grace to not comment on your posts saying things like "Why r u so dumb lol why dun you use my script it wud mak things so much better and save you time as wel". See, unlike you and your cohorts, I know how to mind my own business, and let people do whatever they want to do.

    @Stingray Yeah, company workstations and fun are mutually exclusive. Personally, I prefer a massive desktop workstation with the largest/highest resolution monitor I can find, mechanical keyboard, a full-tower case with plenty of room for upgrades, and a sound system to match. But I understand portability is a requirement for some. There are "desktop replacement" gaming laptops around, even ones with full-sized mechanical keyboards. Expect a fair dent in the bank account with one of those, though.

    Securing your new PC is the tedious (and important) part, I agree. I recommend limiting the C: partition to something like 50 GB, and only installing Windows and some core apps on it (no large apps or data). That way you can backup to a reasonably-sized image and restore your PC's last good state in minutes if you ever have to reinstall.

    I can also recommend disabling auto-update ("download updates in background, ask to install" option). There's a history of auto updates bricking systems (occasionally, but once is too often with that kind of thing).

    @PyrusEnderhunter

    “Way to misinterpret what I said, Genius”. Yeah, I’m not sure a person saying another has a massive ego because that said other person is claiming the first person is not worthy to use the script that the other person PUBLICALLY POSTED FOR PUBLIC USE is considered “misinterpreted”.

    How is it that so many people on this site just can't read? Did I say "you're not allowed to use it"? No. I said he's not worthy to use it, because he used it and still considers it cheating (except if used in the specific way he uses it, of course):

    If you use it to build everything then it's clear as day what's been done and I have similar hesitation to make entire builds relying on it

    Hope that's clear now, genius. Or do I have to use smaller words?
