@Benderisgreta123 I'm being perfectly reasonable. I haven't threatened you per se. More informed you of the fact you've broken site rules and thus are a valid candidate for a ban.
    .
The site rules are very clear. You wouldn't burn yourself on a hot stove you turned on and then blame the stove for hurting you.
    .
I've explained your error, I've suggested an outlet for you as well as a solution to your problem in the form of a private discussion backed with credible linked sources as well as a backup through the contact link below.

Do you want to get banned? Because this is how you get banned. Stop harassing other users and maybe there won't be a problem. If you have an issue, use the contact link below or tag a mod and inform them of the situation, citing links to back up your claim. By publicly humiliating people, you're only making yourself less credible and more likely to get a ban.

@AchuTMM Not if you're making mods for android, but I think you need to find and download the android SDK file in order to export it as an android mod. I think it's part of google's dev kit or something. It's been a while since I've made an android mod and I've reset my PC since then, so I no longer have it on my computer (hence my reluctance to make the android version). If I already had everything on my computer, I would have made an android version.

    .
Sadly, I won't personally be doing an android version. I have a full time job and to dedicate time to this, moderating the site, working on a start up company, etc. It simply isn't practical/healthy for me to prioritise my time like that.
    .
If either of you would like to convert the file into something that's compatible with android, I'll happily send you the Unity files containing the mod. Then you can send the uncompressed version of the file to me and I'll add it to this post along with you as a contributor, so you get points for it. Sadly, that's the only way you'll realistically get an android version.

@CeeToTheZee I'm not 100% sure, but I think the main host server will be Japan based, while my personal backup server will probably be UK based, depending on what is decided at the time (it could be that one isn't required).

@Gravity @jamesPLANESii I was going to do that, but the problem is if people see the event started over an hour or two before they were available, they might think they missed the ship so-to-speak, and given the majority of the active audience are American, it seems more apt to tailor it towards them. I know the pain, because I live in England. perhaps there could be 2 timetabled events going on 1 day next time. Sadly, i thought of that too late.

@Kerbango it's to do with the layering of the particles. Particles are weird in unity as they don't sort themselves by distance as per se. But rather you have to manually layer them by assigning a number to them. Like I say, I'll try and fix it, but I can't promise anything.

  • Greatest Fighter Aircraft of All Time? 6.1 years ago

I think this is one of those things where it's purely opinion and paper based. Stats are a good source of determining whether something is good or not, but they aren't the be all and end all. Just because a fighter jet is shot down less, doesn't inherently mean it's a good fighter.
    .
The F-15 is a great example. It's got a near spotless record, but most of that is because it's too expensive for less developed countries to purchase. The more money a country has, the better facilities are available to it, such as aircraft and more importantly, the training for said aircraft. A lot of the F-15s victories have been over aircraft which were piloted by people that had very poor training in comparison to their US counterparts. It's a similar story to the SU-27 too. It was too expensive for a lot of countries to purchase and train for.
    .
Ironically, my personal favourite fighter jet is the SU-35. It's a proven platform with a few additional bonuses thrown in like advanced avionics and Radar Absorbent Materials, etc. Either that or the Spitfire. One can't fault a bit of good ol' British aerospace engineering.

  • How do you feel about the F-35? 6.1 years ago

@JohnnyBoythePilot You analysis of the X-32 is inaccurate. The X-32 was allegedly very comparable with the X-35 and could exceed it in some ways. The X-32 engine design would have in fact given less headaches because of its more conventional design. Which is exactly why the F-35 has had a lot of engine issues.
    .
Boeing didn't shoot itself in the foot. The government basically killed the X-32 single-handedly by changing the requirements AFTER the X-32 prototype had been built. Meanwhile because Lockheed were still building the X-35, they were able to adapt the requirements.
    .
As a response, the X-32 rightly had parts removed to meet the new requirements and make it more in line with the final product in the competition, but was subsequently disqualified by the US government for doing so. They conducted the test in a denser atmosphere, not because it couldn't perform well, but because they knew that a denser atmosphere would give them the edge against the X-35, meaning it would perform better than the X-35. I guess you could argue it was dirty tactics, but there were no rules stating you couldn't do that. So it was just smart thinking on their part.
    .
Overall, I think the X-32 would have shaped up to be a great aircraft (if a very stupid looking one) and perhaps, dare I say better than the F-35.

  • How do you feel about the F-35? 6.1 years ago

@JohnnyBoythePilot It does employ some body lift technology, Like I say, a lot of this is speculation. I imagine it is comparable in terms of performance to the F-16 and F-18. But I feel like its profile might cause it to lose energy faster than your typical dog fighter.
    .
As for the weapons bays, the J-31 is a good comparison here. I can carry a similar (although slightly less) payload, but has a substantially sleeker profile, which is especially prominent when you view both aircraft from the rear and the side (as an orthographic view like a blueprint). Utilising two engines instead of one means you can have smaller engines, thus a smaller height profile and you can store the weapons between the engines like on the PAK FA, but this configuration wasn't used presumably due to it not fitting the requirements.
    .
So, yes you're partially right, it is fatter because of internal weapon bays, but it's primarily because of the choice to go with one powerful engine instead of two smaller diameter engines, which in turn effects the placement of the weapon bays.

  • How do you feel about the F-35? 6.1 years ago

@Nerfenthusiast I'm not sure what your point is. You literally just tried to pass an opinion off as a fact.

  • How do you feel about the F-35? 6.1 years ago

I've studied aerospace for 5 years and worked in engineering since leaving uni, so I'd like to think my opinion counts for something. But before I speculate, there's some important information that needs to be said by me.
    .
Firstly and most importantly, the F-35 was not primarily designed for air superiority. People make the assumption that because it looks similar to an F-16 that it must be a 5th generation F-16, which it isn't.
    .
Secondly, any speculation on the aircraft is literally just that. Speculation. Industry is riddled with secrets acts, confidential information, ITAR regulations, official sensitive documents, etc. So to say you know something about the F-35 with 100% certainty without working on or with it is ignorant at the very least, unless of course it's covered by the freedom of information act (or equivalent) such as things like government spending. To give some perspective on regulations, I've heard tales about objects as simple as keyboards being under ITAR control.
    .
    Anyway, moving on.
    .
The F-35 is primarily designed for the attack and close air support role. It's more apt to think of it as a 5th generation A-10 than an F-16. It does, as with almost all military aircraft these days come with multirole capability, so it can perform other roles such as air superiority.
    .
Physically, the F-35 isn't pretty. It's quite a fat aircraft as 5th generation aircraft go. This is probably because of the nature of the aircraft. The F-35B plays a large part in the overall F-35 design in this instance due to it's specific need for a powerful single engine for VSTOL purposes. Now this strikes me as having two problems:
    - Drag
    - Heat signature
A fat air frame tends to mean more parasitic drag, which means your aircraft will find it harder to accelerate and easier to lose energy. Meaning I believe that the F-35 would fair poorly in a conventional dogfight. And a larger engine with a larger exhaust means you'll have a larger heat signature too, which might be a problem if your aircraft relies on stealth as passive sensors like IRST would be able to locate your exhaust plume much easier.
    .
However, what the F-35 lacks physically, it makes up for software. The F-35 is basically a flying supercomputer and most likely one of the main reasons the Joint Strike Fighter program has cost is expected to cost 1.5 trillion at the end of its lifespan. It utilises some of the most advanced data linking technology in the aviation world, a feat which puts even the

The UAC is a world superpower we don't go down easily. We allowed you to take over the UAC so we could devise a battle plan to overthrow you. We spoofed our technology with inferior components and collaborated with "your defenders" that were unhappy with your dictatorship.
    .
We spent months building mass weapons at a top secret location and unleashed the power of advanced intuitive AI to our advantage (one of the things we had spoofed for you). We also used it in our battle plan to work out a 100% success rate strategy, weed out potential moles and locate and target key military bases. All in the cover of darkness and without your knowledge.
    .
A computer virus was also created that would target and shut down and destroy all equipment that didn't possess the correct ID via wifi network. Moles that had infiltrated your military bases disguised as high ranking officers conducted updates to key equipment under your possession, effectively rendering it useless on the day of attack. Your air force, navy and other military sectors were rendered useless and limited to legacy equipment only. Your intelligence agencies were fed false information and thus were none the wiser as to what was actually going on.
    .
On the night of the attack, key military personnel and government officials were assassinated, and a barrage of nuclear armaments were deployed to destroy strongholds. Small nimble attack aircraft like the ES-75 were deployed to take out key runways and storage facilities, which were then closely followed by heavy bomber aircraft such as the ES-78 which were escorted by AS-1, AS-2 and AS-3 aircraft to take out the little enemy fighter aircraft that were able to take off. Following this, with the skies now cleared and the majority of enemy defences down, a wave of Stratobombers and ES-74 gunships, TS-14 tanks, AS AI Dragons and ES-81 attack/transport helicopters dropped and fired devastatingly large payloads onto any remaining areas that somehow weren't damaged by the first 2 waves.
    .
the majority of Simple S Union members, cut off from any hope of survival and communication with their commander are forced to surrender. Following this, your location/hideout is quickly located, where special forces delivered via ES-81 Attack/Transport helicopters are deployed. Due to sheer numbers, your last defences are taken out and you are captured mid toilet break, brought to a top secret location and put behind bars for life.
    .
The UAC seizes all Simple S Union assets and returns everything back to their original owners. Remaining Simple S Union assets are kept by the UAC.
