Beautiful, drop dead gorgeous in fact - just like the real bird. I’m nit going to be able to try it on this heap until I get my pc sorted alas. Is all that crazy broccoli make for optimal cruising alt (60,000ft if I remember rightly?)
I’ve no doubt you positioned them correctly, I think the hinges needs to be inverted/not inverted as they don’t move to cover the void space the landing gear retracts into. @Araknis
Awesome job with the livery and build in general. How do you get a clean two tone line all the way around the fuselage like that? God I’ve tried but I always end up with the colours glitching through.
You wouldn’t be treading on my toes, if by some random chance I was working on an argosy I’d still tell you to crack on and look forward to seeing it! @theeunknown
That’s quite a story. I think you will build again, you’ll get a summer break etc, and you’ll see something that will grab your attention and you’ll think “that would look good on SP” and before you know it there will be a “I’m back” post and will all sigh and think - you never left. No one leaves SP for good! :)
All the best!
Well you didn’t choose the lattice mast version so I’m going to have to take back my support.....
I joke. Beautiful build, magnificent specimen. Everything’s bigger and better in Texas!
There’s a lot of emotion when the word ‘Imola’ pops up for that season. “If you don’t take an opportunity in a race, well you’re no longer a racing driver” very true. I like how he raised the profile of Brazil and was quite charitable alongside his personal jet etc. :) @theeunknown
Thanks for the spot @EpicPigster1 most kind! I agree, as far as general aviation went they had no vicious characteristics and would have/did make good trainers. Powerplants were always a big issue after they chose to fit the more reliable but less performing wright cyclone engines more suited to transport/bombers. A lot of these engines were reconditioned in cottage industry workshops that led to noticeable difference in performance from one engine to another - noticed in sqn climbs etc. Really quite a fascinating kite. Theres a lot of info out there and pilot diaries etc I just got comp[letely absorbed and was in danger of putting together a thesis - but no one reads the description lets face it!
Fritz works but is hard to control. I would scale the wings down to increase lift and improve handling and maybe throw in a gyro to make it more stable? Overall it’s a cool feature well done!
Yeah your right, works fine on pc. High settings on iOS however and the whole tail section sinks! Why the bloomin hell does it do that now?! @QingyuZhou
Holly cow! Never really read into direct cycle , I always thought it was like something out of fallout 3. But yes, I agree it probably would spew radioactive particles far and wide! @TheFantasticTyphoon
I don’t know too much about it but I presume they would have used a pressurised water reactor type and generated steam to power turbines for power etc and would have been, by design a closed system. So I don’t think it would have created fallout as such for people on the ground, but if there’s not much shielding anything metallic on the aircraft would become rather irradiated. Nuclear power is an excellent source of power - it needs to be accident proof though and the waste is pain. Why we just don’t fire all our nuclear waste at the sun beats me. Forgive me, I’m off on a tangent :) @TheFantasticTyphoon
I know, it took that much shielding just to protect the crew it wasn’t ever going to be feasible. It works on boats/ships as weight isn’t an issue - you’re talking tons of various materials and methods (like putting diesels tanks in the way) just for them to be somewhat “safe” to be near. Even then it’s time limited exposure and you’d probably end up with gamma shine areas where it wouldn’t pay to have a cup of tea in..... Ruskies experimented also - they just wrapped one any/Minimal shielding so it could take off! @TheFantasticTyphoon
Clues in the name right? :) @ElectricVehicle

+1Looks awesome! What were the red patches on the turret roofs for?
+1Looks like a predreadnought bravo!
+1Cracking job! I prefer not to fiddle with cockpits so I approve this!
+1I’ve no doubt you positioned them correctly, I think the hinges needs to be inverted/not inverted as they don’t move to cover the void space the landing gear retracts into. @Araknis
+1Pretty good, gear doors close the wrong way though, other than that its a great low part build!
+1Awesome job with the livery and build in general. How do you get a clean two tone line all the way around the fuselage like that? God I’ve tried but I always end up with the colours glitching through.
+1Why are people changing their names I don’t know who you are anymore! Lovely looking build by the way, pretty damn epic.
+1You wouldn’t be treading on my toes, if by some random chance I was working on an argosy I’d still tell you to crack on and look forward to seeing it! @theeunknown

+1@theeunknown oh yes, hard to view this as a 50s bomber!
+1No bother, neat build. Stall point really low and it turns a little too tight but I like your build! @WarHawk95
+1Unique build, good for you! I’ve tried pistons before and understand why you didn’t, it’s a bloody headache! @MASTERMEMES
+1Yay pre dreadnought! Waterline version?
+1Thanks mate! There’s not many on this site I’ll give you that! @LuftwaffeAce262

This is magnificent! I’d use a lighter shade of grey as it’s hard to make out detail, great looking build though!
+1Saves you money on your plane insurance....
Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. I’ll stand myself in the naughty corner.

+1It’s a little rustic but I agree, he was a hero! I take it you’ve watched ‘Senna’? @theeunknown
+1Magnificent looking beast and the Texas is a beast! Was fortunate enough to visit her when I was a kid, great stuff!
+1I love watching old(er) movies and seeing this livery. Good job!
+1Very neat design, reminds me of the chipmunk!
+1Definitely the latter, real life can be paused can’t it....:) @RamboJutter
+1Thanks for spotlighting this barrel! @Sgtk and @Diloph

+1@F4f879 thankS mate!
+1Utterly magnificent. Must have been living in a cave when this was published!

+1I really like this bomber type and I’m glad someone has built it!
+1Thanks for your recent interest! @Suubk27
+1I do like seeing retro livery’s, good job!
+1Cracking job, love the screenshots!
+1Love the detail and under 500 parts too!
+1Food for thought - how the hell do my builds work on pc - that’s a scary thought if there’s such discrepancies with this! @QingyuZhou
+1Yeah I lived there for a couple of years in the late 90’s. As a kid I loved it! @ElectricVehicle
+1Very cool build, used to live on Borneo - love Indonesia!
+1got to be my favourite star wars bird!
+1Yeah your right, works fine on pc. High settings on iOS however and the whole tail section sinks! Why the bloomin hell does it do that now?! @QingyuZhou
