@DieDieTheLoaf Bife already linked the correct version made by me, but I wanted to say that at least the mirage 2000 has an AoA limiter which limits it to 30 degrees, so cobras aren't a thing it can do unless there's an override switch (which there probably is)

rexzion is right, weapon firing doesn't support FT, you can only change when they activate

  • How to put inputs together? [Solved] 4.0 years ago

Not really an answer to your question but you should use angle of attack, not airspeed, because a plane can stall at any speed and at any attitude.
The symmetrical airfoil stalls at around 14-15 degrees, semi-symmetrical at 16-17 and flat-bottom at 30 degrees or something like that.

    IAS > 5 ? clamp01(-AngleOfAttack > 16) : 0

this would work perfectly, just change the number for the correct one, if it turns on too early increase it by a little bit

  • Is my plane even good, also, how do I use yaw correctly and make it a contributing feature? 4.0 years ago

@rexzion just put a wing vertically inside the fuselage, at the position of the wings

  • Is my plane even good, also, how do I use yaw correctly and make it a contributing feature? 4.0 years ago

@rexzion same way as wings help elevators pitch the plane

  • Is my plane even good, also, how do I use yaw correctly and make it a contributing feature? 4.0 years ago

hide a small wing vertically inside the fuselage to simulate the lift produced by the fuselage. irl rudders don't make the plane turn that much either though

  • MIG YE-150 Flipper 4.0 years ago

Nice plane, just wanted to point out that vapor cones always appear near the rear of the wing or behind it, where the low pressure air can't hold water and it condensates

  • Tutorial 1: Realistic Performance 4.0 years ago

    (Only for jet powered aircraft)
Accurate maximum thrust can be achieved by dividing the real thrust by the thrust of the SP engine you're using and obtaining the correct powerMultiplier value that way.
For props it's basically trial and error because of the many things that affect their thrust

Something I'd like to point out is that the elevator input you showed might work but isn't really a good method. I personally prefer attaching the main wing piece to a rotator or using a control surface, if it works, as these would actually increase lift and not just pitch the plane up

Very well explained post, I hope it helps lots of people

  • Lockheed F-104G Starfighter 4.0 years ago

@CharlesDeGaulle you should know that there's a big difference in performance between fully loaded and clean. The thrust is accurate too, as well as the stall speed and pitch authority, so I don't know what you're talking about, maybe you could elaborate more?

  • North American F-100D Super Sabre 4.0 years ago

Stall speed is around 20 knots lower than irl but it's overall very nice and simple, with a pretty good flight model too

    +2
  • Lockheed F-104G Starfighter 4.0 years ago

@SavageMan A very interesting characteristic of the 104 was that it wasn't stall-limited, but pitch-limited, it would only be able to stall when flaps were down or at a very low airspeed. Also, the ailerons maximum angle was 20 degrees with gear down and 9.75 degrees with gear up, which might explain the low roll rate at slow speed. The rudder also helps a lot with rollrate though.
    Looking forward to see yours!

@CharlesDeGaulle it's not meant to be flown with keyboard, mouse as joystick is the minimum requirement lol. I used a joystick during all the testting and flight modelling process

@PointlessWhyshouldi The SportStar and EuroStar are a family of a two-seat, light sport aircraft (LSA), manufactured by Evektor-Aerotechnik of the Czech Republic and powered by a Rotax 912ULS, 100 horsepower (75 kW) engine. The SportStar is an all-metal design made from anodized, corrosion-proofed aluminum. The airframe uses a pop-riveted and bonded construction, which the company claims will improve fatigue characteristics and result in a longer service life. The company also claims this construction technique results in better crashworthiness, the elimination of rivet zippering in an accident and quieter in-flight noise levels due to the elimination of oil-canning and flexing.

@PointlessWhyshouldi The Pratt & Whitney J57 is an axial-flow turbojet engine developed by Pratt & Whitney in the early 1950s. The J57 (first run January 1950) was the first 10,000 lbf (45 kN) thrust class engine in the United States. The J57/JT3C was developed into the J75/JT4A turbojet, JT3D/TF33 turbofan, and PT5/T57 turboprop (of which only one was built). The J57 and JT3C saw extensive use on fighter jets, jetliners, and bombers for many decades.

  • Mcdonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II 4.0 years ago

@Hedero take the thrust without burner, 10200 lbf, divide it by the SP engine thrust, that's the multiplier for the main engine. take the burner's thrust, 5800 lbf, divide it by the vtol engine's thrust, there's the multiplier for the afterburner.
I would send you my own wip Hun but I wanna see what you come up with lol

  • Grey's TIE Interceptor 4.0 years ago

    looks and flies really good!

  • Mcdonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II 4.0 years ago

@Hedero the thing is, by having accurate thrust you don't have to fix acceleration
You just divide the real thrust by the thrust of the engine you're using and use the result as power multiplier

  • Mcdonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II 4.0 years ago

slats only extend when pulling back and when rolling right, and the wing shape is wrong, but it flies very nicely and you did a good job on the transitions
oh, and the thrust to weight ratio is a lot higher than irl

  • North American F-86K Sabre 4.0 years ago

@DeMeHToP yup, if you drag a part, a blue box will appear in the top left corner, you drop it there and it will appear in the subassemblies section of the "add parts" menu. If you grab the build from the part that's connected to the cockpit you can drag the entire craft, so make sure the cockpit is only connected to a single part if you're doing this

  • North American F-86K Sabre 4.0 years ago

@DeMeHToP I saved the plane as a subassembly and connected the three of them

  • Rockwell-MBB X-31 4.1 years ago

@Suica I don't think I understand how reducing drag can cause the plane to climb/descend violently, but you can reduce engine spool up time by reducing the max value in InputController and increasing powerMultiplier so the output stays the same (for example: ``max -> 0.1 and powerMultiplier -> 10)
The wing loading is also very important, to do post-stall maneuvers in this plane I had to get extremely slow, at anything above 150 knots it was no longer possible because of hw floaty you've made it.
I just want you to improve the flight characteristics in your future builds, cheers :)
