@TheChosenZebra Like, people asking you spotlight their plane? Or just the spotlight notifications in general? You can un-follow people if you think they're spamming you..
@KnightOfAraluen There is a 3-minute cooldown after you spotlight someone's design. However, I imagine everybody and their dog wants to test out this new feature, so RIP your inbox for the next few hours..
@Zup We removed it so people would stop abusing it. You can create a separate forum post and tag a mod or a dev with your request, or you can tell me here what you want your name changed to, and I can do it right now.
@jamesPLANESii If someone blocks you for no reason, that's their choice. Consider yourself lucky to not be friends with someone so petty or fickle. Some people may only want to use the website to upload their planes and interact with only a handful of people. It may be difficult to not take it personal, but if somebody wants to filter out anybody for any reason, we want to make that option available.
.
Overall, we should see less toxic behavior bubbling up in the community. Nobody wants to be blocked. Also, mods and devs can see who blocks who, how many people are blocking certain players, etc., which gives us better clarity in resolving conflicts.
When I was in college, I went with a girlfriend to her grandmother's funeral, where I met most of her family for the first time. (Also the last time, because we broke up a few months afterwards.) As I was being grilled by her cousins on my plans and intentions, my nose began to bleed uncontrollably. When it stopped, it started again without warning an hour or so later, so a few of them entertained the idea that I must be snorting drugs.
.
Keeping your nose clean in low humidity is no joke.
We are investigating the possibilities this week, actually. This would mean new AI for cars, and new races just for cars (and possibly boats, since they're also racing along the surface).
.
Here's hoping it is possible without breaking the whole game..
I think they'd be fun, myself. Especially with rag doll physics. Drop 'em in a cockpit, or cram them into a passenger jet, and when you crash, it's even more hilarious..
To clarify about Maywar, the desert island:
.
Each of the large islands (Wright, Krakabloa, Snowstone) are the same 'size' as one another, squared, even if some of its area recedes beneath the ocean depths.
.
Maywar is unique, in that it takes the same square space, but stitches FOUR of them together. The size of the game is not the issue, but the size of the world space itself, and the hardware limits of rendering such an expansive area.
.
With aircraft zooming about at high speeds at high altitudes, you can see an entire island at once. It's quite a bit easier to render terrain if the game is designed to be played on the ground, with only your immediate surroundings visible, but when you're playing with a bird's eye view? Even in games that allow an overhead view of the landscape, you'll notice loss of detail in faraway objects and good use of a fog to obscure visibility. We did our best to work around these limitations to give a better flying experience, and this is also why the islands are as spaced out as they are, so you rarely see two islands at one time.
.
Hope this helps clarify things.
We read quite a bit, even if we rarely comment. Most of the time, other players/mods will answer the questions and concerns before we happen across them. And yes.. it would be nice if we were no longer being tagged on irrelevant posts.. but I'm not a big believer in miracles..
We need more of these kinds of posts. Positive and encouraging. A good reminder to the rest of the community that there are so many that are simply here to help.
@humangrenade "Jundroo" has an odd origin. Andrew, Philip, and I all grew up in a small town in southern Illinois, and Philip's older brother give most of his friends odd little nicknames when he met us. They were nonsensical; for example, he called me "Joe-ella-nard" in a deep froggy voice. Andrew's nickname was "Jundroo" and when he decided to start a gaming company, this was the name that stuck above all the others he was considering.
@Dalton02 We have no future plans for another HUGE update, although we have plenty of ideas to implement. We may all come back after some time, but most of us are working on what comes next. We have a couple projects we are prototyping (such as SimpleRockets 2), but everything is in the pre-pre-alpha stage, which means that nothing may come from any of our work if it isn't good enough.
@General360 I deleted your comment, because I don't want to encourage anybody to point fingers and blame others. I agree with you, that those people were somewhat responsible, based on their toxic behavior.
...
However, no matter how many points these petty thugs may accrue over time, there is no respect in this community for behaving in a way that drives people away. If that doesn't vindicate it enough for you, just consider that when they do decide to move on, there will not many people who will grieve their departure, unlike the outpouring of support that is given to the more thoughtful & kind players that helped others along the way.
@laSoul There is constructive criticism on one hand, and then there is being a jerk-face on the other. I do not think that a 'harsh' critique is beneficial, as it incites defensiveness and discouragement in the creator. One should not offer any criticism if it was not requested.
...
It can get irksome when every upload brings its fair share of haters to harp on your creations (and your character) in the comments. Hope this helps your understanding.
@Shawniepie Orchestrating an upvote exchange is against the rules. This is usually done with groups of lower level players, who truly deeply care about these imaginary internet points.
...
Sorry if I misread your scam description, assuming that you meant higher level players were reaching out to lower level players simply to gain numerous upvotes from those "mentor" relationships. This is a consequence of being a good community member, and is the type of behavior we should encourage.
It is not a scam to reach out to newer players and cement relationships, helping others to become better. This is the hallmark of an ideal user in the community.
...
People that are skilled at rubbing elbows call it "networking" while everybody else calls it "politics" out of spite and bitter envy.
It's an issue that should be showcased, so that others realize the harm that is done in bullying others. He is just a single user, and even if he did not have a significant presence in this community, as all players will come and go, this incident is unique, because of the reasons of his departure.
...
The entire community should pay attention as to not repeat history, and speak out against any & all toxic behavior directed at another player. We are all human beings with struggles and hardships. Life is hard enough as it is.
Anyone involved in harassing or criticizing him should absolutely feel sad and guilty about it. It's an issue that should be showcased, so that others realize the harm that is done in bullying others. @BeryllCorp No, that phrase wasn't directed at you at all. I was making a very general statement about people who go above & beyond to find faults in an imperfect world. Not that I meant in a negative way, though.
That thread was one of many. I mean, I get it. People can get frustrated, even over petty nonsense, and feel the need to do something. Anything.
I'm not saying that it's not against the rules anymore, because we still ban those who do so, and we'd like to think we catch the most frequent cheaters. However, the attitudes from some of the more aggressive players on the website are toxic and contagious, and I thought I'd frame it in a way that helps others break away from that mold.
We have some channels open on Discord, which you can find information for by clicking the "Stuff" link at the top of this web page and choosing the "live chat" tab.
Or did you mean replacing the website altogether for a mobile app?
Done and done.
@Seraphinium Better?
@TheChosenZebra Like, people asking you spotlight their plane? Or just the spotlight notifications in general? You can un-follow people if you think they're spamming you..
@FennVectorCWA Thanks. Yes, we will definitely be tweaking how spotlights work over the next few days.. including everything else, pretty much.
Let me know what you want your name to be, and I'll change it for ya.
Tag a mod or a dev, and let us know what you want your new name to be, and why you need the change.

@kukimuki1234 You cannot block mods or devs.
@Zup Yes, re-naming yourself on a whim is now a discontinued feature. You can still change your username, but you'll need to ask a mod or a dev.

Ya ever go by 'Scansin, ya can come by me, hey?
@jfriss No need to play detective. There were a few people involved, but there's no need to speculate and cast blame with hearsay.
Who isn't? I thought this was the norm.
Ask Johndfg. He knows. @FrankieB
Have enough fun yet? @Johndfg

If I get this 3D-printed.. will I be able to find it in its shipping box filled with packing peanuts?
Q: Why did the monkey fall out of the tree?
A: Because it was dead.

Most higher level players truly do not care about the points and the ranking system. They're invested in the community, not the points.

The bartender says, "Why the long face?"
The horse replies, "My wife has terminal cancer."

@Stampede Check if your suggestions are already here, and if not, add your suggestions (one at a time) to the list.
We would lower the threshold before raising it again. Most people would rather see quality, not quantity.
@YuukaSP Use the contact form found at the bottom of this website, and let the team know your intentions, experience, and passion for it.
@CaesiciusPlanes I suppose mods can see stickied blog posts as I write them..
