The "REA Challenge" will be open soon so stay on alert !
It is made by both CptLiar and Me
If you have any questions you can ask them here. But remember that the challenge will contain a lot of information so don't panic haha.
You can ask to be tagged on the challenge when it will be released.
@FalconDynamic
@Rifimaka no it doesn't, it's not about the center of lift, in fact, the more you're COL will be close to your tail, the more maniability (making your aircraft more unstable) you'll get. And when you retract variable sweep wings, the COL goes closer to the tail, so it should give you more maniability. BUT
When you do this, you change the way your wings create lift, enough to make the airplane actually less agile than before.
In SP however, it doesn't work, well it work for the "agility" part, but the drag doesn't change so the speed isn't affected, but IRL it is how it works.
The only thing that makes the plane go fatser (IRL, since it's not replicated in SP) is the reduced drag due to the wing being sweept back. Indeed you can test it in-game, your top speed won't changen but your agility will.
And keep in mind that there's no "the less or the more you turn", since IRL pilots doesn't use a kyeboard (so full inputs), they can decide how hard they turn, you can keep a high speed even with un-retracted wings, just pull too hard on the pitch. And it's not really about how hard you turn, but how much AoA you reach.
But top speed doesn't have anything to do with turning speed, so it isn't even a thing to talk about I guess.
COL has nothing to do with speed, in SP and in real life, the things that you have to look at is thrust, mass and drag.
It also works in SP, the only thing is that sweep wings doesn't change the drag amount when sweept, because the parts have a fixed amount of drag, but changing your COL won't do much to the speed. The point of changing the weep of the wing is just to reduce the drag, less resistance to the air means more potential speed.
@Hiimakeplanes 100, 200, it's the same, adding 100 parts on a 100 part build isn't really difficult, most of all the fuselages I make for my builds have more than 100 parts (just the fuselage), my last build, a rafale, has around 100 parts just for the nose section.
you just ask somebody who makes good screenshots if he's okay about making some for you. I make a lot of screenshots for people, they just ask me gently on discord. Then we send you the screenshots and you can just use them as you want. Depending on the person a credit will be asked, but even if nobody ask for it it's always great to credit the one who did the job.
I had good hopes with this challenge, and when you said "Building with a limited resource of only 25 parts makes your part choice and decision-making better" I was thinking "yeah exactly it's a good exercise, people will be able to take they're time on fuselage shape and part efficiency".
But actually everybody just made a plane in mess than a day because they didn't get the point of the challenge, looked at most of them and there isn't more than one plane with a good shaped fuselage.
@SpaceJunkee008 no since it is the "center" of the lift that the plane create, and a plane does create lift with its wings,but also thanks to the vertical stabilisators. And since the vertical stabs are oftenly smaller, the center of lift is oftenly between the wings and the vertical stabs, but closer to the wings.
@SpaceJunkee008 COM is "center of mass" and COL "center of lift". If you press your spacebar in the designer (or activate with the menu of it if you are on mobile), this will make three "balls" show up, a red one (COM), a blue one (COL) and a yellow one (COT, center of thrust). So now that you know all this, the only thing you have to know to make literally everything fly in Simpleplanes, is that your COM must ALWAYS be in front of the COL
@KingOfTypos sure !
@404NameNotFound if it was used as a fighter too yes
@KingOfTypos Try it, can be a good, very good training.

where the epic ?
bruh the camera
+2the wings un-fold mechanism is way too fast, it should take around 20 seconds to be fully un-fold
+1Like this ?
+1@Thelegitpilot13 you're welcome
that's pretty sad, funny challenge but nobody took a look at it :/
you got the canopy shape wrong
@PyrrhaNikos if it is to say things like that, you can keep it for yourself.
just stream on discord
@JosephT wait until you see the rules
@rexzion basically, yes
basically, gyro horizon
+2@asteroidbook345 take care of yourself before doing anything as useless as a game challenge, take care.

just hide wings in the fuselage structure of your blades.

nice MisterT maps
+1@OUGHTO it had to be done, beautiful planes, beautiful builds, bravo guys.
+3@WinsWings yes it's pretty good

because they are ?
looks very cool so far
+2@JustDragon a mystère b2 ? seriously ?
+1having this simulated ammo count in guns is pretty unique, very usefull for realism.
+3@JustDragon it's not about how many points you get, it's jus tabout a "rule is arule" and please respect it.
Right now with weekly and almost dayly work I'm around 7 mount for my last build, which isn't finished yet.
@Felldownstairsman that's your problem, I'm pretty sure that there is other ways to ask and share screenshots but discord is just too useful

bruh what's the point of asking that question how can we know ?
me
@TheFlightGuySP no problemo, if you have any questions you can ask
+1isn't this just the One Part HUD ?
+1even at 50% it accelerates too fast.
+1@Bryan5 only american planes....
+1@Dathcha gold is only 5k points....
+1@Dathcha not at all, it's easy, get good or if you're lazy spam shitty builds

@funydude no
