@MIAW26PERSIAN I kept encountering flaws, but now they're all corrected.
Too bad that this site doesn't have a feature yet that would allow you to update your build directly instead of continuosly deleating and reuploading it.
@WiiMini Also, if you want to see the movie this plane is from, it's on Amazon prime: https://www.amazon.com/Gunbus-Scott-McGinnis/dp/B01MS4V6WL
I highly recommend, that you watch it. It's a decent film in my opinion (unlike what critics think).
@WiiMini It was the same for me when i first started off in Simpleplanes, but then i got better and better at building aircraft, especially when i started using these tools:
https://www.simpleplanes.com/Mods/View/483588/Fine-Tuner
https://www.simpleplanes.com/Mods/View/524146/Overload
I recommend you give them a shot, it will make building aircraft much easier.
@tsampoy Thank you. I'm also currently building the colossal airship from the movie (in Minecraft, not SimplePlanes, because it's way too big), so as you can see, i'm very obsessed with the film.
@Mustang51 The reason why the landing gear looks so weird is because this is not an actual Salmson 2, but its actually a highly modified Caudron C.270, just like in the movie.
And yes, the plane in my profile picture is a "Salmson". The link to the scene that i used as my profile picture is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUuSQlevJuY
@Mustang51 By the way, about two months ago, i've released an exact replica of one aircraft that appears in the film (Gunbus), the Salmson 2. The link to it is: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/88x4JD/Salmson-2-Version-2-0
In the movie, the Salmsons play a major role when the two main heroes (Luke and Barney) attack the hangar of the giant experimental airship with two Salmsons that they have "borrowed" from another squadron. One of them (Barney) flies into the hangar and gets trapped inside as the doors are closed. However, he manages to escape the hangar by flying through a large ventilation shaft above the doors.
This scene features some of the best miniature work i have ever seen, the amount of detail is simply astounding. Really makes you think how a movie (which cost 17 million dollars to make) can be so easily forgotten.
Here's a link to the hangar scene from the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUuSQlevJuY
@Mustang51 You are right, there was a fatal crash during the filming of Hells Angels 1930 and it made it into the finished product !
When the allied bomber (which is actually a Sikorsky S-29A) is shot down by Von Richthofen near the end of the film, the crash that you are seeing is also the death of a mechanic, who didn't abandon the aircraft in time, while the pilot did.
@Mustang51 I've recently watched Flyboys and it is still one of my favorite WW1 aviation films , despite being torn apart by critics (Gunbus is also despised by critics despite me liking the movie). I know that it is an inaccurate depiction of the Lafayette Escadrille and that the germans didn't fly red Fokker Dr1s in 1916 but i still enjoyed it.
I did watch the dogfight scene in Hells Angels (it also has an airship scene) and i can confirm, that they used real planes in the film as well as several miniatures for the mid-air collision scenes.
I really can't see the hate that Flyboys and Gunbus have received.
Gunbus is obviously meant to be a ridiculous and over-the-top comedy movie and Flyboys is hated by WW1 Aviation enthusiasts for its over-reliance on CGI. But what these people don't know is that they've actually used many practical effects in the movie (The airship, some mid-air-collisions as well as the ammunition depot bombing scene were all done using miniature effects). Here's a video showing the Flyboys miniatures: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZq6M8hI_WA
Fun fact:
There is an episode in Talespin titled "Bygones", which features biplanes, that almost fully resemble the Airco Dh-5 except for the Spad-like engine cowling and exhaust pipes.
@Mustang51 I know that World War 1 aircraft didn't have modern weaponry, but this aircraft is fictional, the design is based on the very strange flying-machines from the 1986 movie 'Gunbus' (aka Sky Bandits), which quickly became one of my most favourite aviation-themed films i've ever seen (despite the very poor critical reception).
This is an absolutely incredible replica, i'm having a lot of fun with it! Great work!
+2An incredible build ! Your great-grandfather would be very proud of you.
+1"This is a Gunbus, one hell of a plane!"
Great reskin, reminds me of the Salmson in Battlefield 1.
@MIAW26PERSIAN And it's a decent movie no matter what critics tell you.
@MIAW26PERSIAN Now I also love building impractical, downright bizarre WW1 aircraft after seeing Sky Bandits.
@MIAW26PERSIAN Also, what are your thoughts on this aircraft ?
@MIAW26PERSIAN They should seriously consider implementing it.

@Mustang51 I've released another aircraft related to this movie, i recommend that you go check it out.

@WiiMini Do you need to be at a certain level in order to spotlight ?
@tsampoy You won't mind if i delete the old post ?
@tsampoy I've noticed a mistake in the build, how can i update it ?
@tsampoy Also, if you want to watch the movie, the best version of it is on Amazon prime.
@tsampoy It is called "The Battleship of the Future".
@tsampoy Quite impressive, right ? https://universityofhollywood.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Gunbus-05.png
@tsampoy Thank you. I'm also currently building the colossal airship from the movie (in Minecraft, not SimplePlanes, because it's way too big), so as you can see, i'm very obsessed with the film.
There's an airship in Talespin that looks just like this one, and no, i am not referring to the Iron Vulture.
You should do the Pitts Skycar next.
Now that's a long cockpit, it's the same length as a bathtub !

"Wow, what a great plane ! A Conwing L-16, right ?" - Kit
@Mustang51 @Mustang51
Did you have any chance to watch the movie ? Especially now during the coronavirus pandemic ?
@xXMrCoolDudeXx
Is this a reference that i'm not getting ?
This model looks and flies just like in the TV-series, great job !
@Mustang51 Have you watched the movie yet and if you did, did you enjoy it ?
Just wondering.

@Mesi1010 Thank you, that was my first attempt at making a detailed aircraft, the last update has made making detailed vehicles much more simple.
