@Rohan I had some instability problems with his plane where by I needed to push the CoL further back to fix. As a result I added a second layer of wing, which is perfectly easy within the editor. You create a wing of the same size and shape but opposite if you get my meaning. It goes on the end of your existing wing and when you flip it twice it lines up with the existing wing. The key to making the under side a different colour is to drop or raise the position of one of these wings in the xml. About 0.05 would do it, that's 5 cm's in reality.
@Loliview It's the great thing about this game, it has evolved and it's not just planes, it can be anything you want it to be within the limits of the game. Once I'm done making a couple more boats I will make some helicopters. I already have half an Apache in my list of builds.
@Rohan Mine a usually customised to the build. Walrus has some on his parts uploads that might work better for you. The wing parts of the gears are attached to the rotator already so it shouldn't attach to the wings.
@WeeBabySeamus No, you can't have that...stop asking me for stuff! Only joking of course, you can have a glimpse as you're not the only one who has asked for one of these, but I now need to charge my phone before building any more of it. https://www.kamcord.com/v/YWFdW4w7qa5
I have found that a large nose cone is very strong and with it having 5 attachment points on one side there is a lot of strength there. I suspect this could even be improved with some detachers as they have a spring to them to absorb impact.
Thank you @Scriefers I'm glad to hear that you're starting to look at the files and tweak angles yourself. As you've discovers it doesn't take a coder to edit them, just some aptitude for mathematics and time and patience for trial and error. I've been at it for a while now and although I can pretty much tweak a part and get it 95% right on the first attempt, I still need to constantly tweak and reload until I get it perfect and sometimes it takes several reloads to get just one part in the right place. On the counterweight you noticed, I put that in to give the boat realistic steering in the water and actually it serves little other purpose than for looks.
@bjac0 Experimentation and a lot of patience. I have to rotate all those wing parts into the right position, which is a real pain and takes a long time. Hence why it's taken a week to get this built, plus it's been a busy week for me in the real world so haven't had much spare time to spend building it.
This is incredible and your best plane yet. Everything about it is just amazing the handling, the looks, all the features and it's hovering ability is second to none.
@Zealot5layer Hehe, yeah, it was a strange build and I'd notice that myself. The F-14 can fly without the main wings too but I doubt either of them can be landed without though.
@thomin No, I build everything on Android mobile and tweaks things in the XML to get the positions or rotations. The blocks aren't easy but once you get the position and angle right, it's a matter of repeating the steps. I posted from OSX because I port the file to my Mac to test before posting to the website.
@DethFromAbove That looks pretty cool. I'm up for making it. I know the sub launching platform has been done already but I'd like to go to the next level and be able to pick the sub back up and place back on board. I really need to make myself a list for suggestions so I don't forget one.
@Crewmanmilo Glad you enjoy it, I just drove it to the top of a cliff and it did very well. Then something caught on the bottom just before I was about to launch it off the edge and it blew up. Will try again later.
Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I have decided to start with a solid base military dinghy/military zodiac with 2 stow away engines. This leads me into @WeeBabySeamus 's idea of a ship with a dinghy on the back, which WWIIPlaneBuilder has also suggested. @Rohan , I would love to do the Nimitz, I think that would have to be a build that I do around the others as it will take a long time to perfect. @Shmexysmpilot I was thinking about making a working hydroplane, I have some idea on how to make it work so watch this space.
Really cool, love the design and the cockpit too. I find that small pitch movements have more effect, you could change the max deflection angle of the front wings down to about 15 degrees and it would improve agility.
My first modded part was a tipped nose cone. At this point there were a few rediculous engines and tanks posted about which I tried and realised I didn't like. Since messing with the files I have realised the potential of modifications and grasped it with both hands. Most of my modifications are situational, positions and rotations and the like for visual looks and to help with replication. I do use performance changing mods too but only in moderation and try to avoid the negative affect of them as best as possible. Rather than one modded engine, I'll use 2 or 3 to better spread the weight, 4 engines at 2x power is better than 2 engines at 4x power. The pros of modification far outweight the cons in my oppinion, and most importantly the reduction in build size because of the modified fuel tank makes it easier to use large aircrafts on mobile devices. I accept the concequences of my actions understanding that with future updates my previous builds may not work very well or at all, but I also know that my previous unmodified builds are already not what they used to be. Someone said games have a lifespan and it's about extending it, but my builds have a lifespan too and eventually no one is going to be using them, they will be looking and trying all the new builds. I suppose that makes it obvious where I stand on the subject. The devs have already expressed their support for modifying so that to me is permission to do your worst! @hypnotoad You're not the only brit!
@SpiritusRaptor If you set the VTOL just a little too far it goes into a spin, and once in a spin set the location to somewhere in the stratosphere I think this would make a great scene on one of your Interstellar themed vids.
Really cool, I like the fact that if you slide the VTOL just one click too far it goes into an uncontrollable spin like the film. I'm going to name someone in the comments that I think could make good use of this on a video!
Another wing tip - attach a wing on the edge of a block instead of the center:
1.) Take 1 block and 1 wing and attach them as normal.
2.)Add 0.25 of dihedral (that's one click).
3.) Add a short piece of wing to the end and rotate twice to face back to the block.
4.) Prepare another wing which is equivalent to the first wing length minus the short wing length.
5.) By grabbing the last wing you created by the end (small attacher block) you should be able to connect this to the second wing as a bridge between wing and block.
6.) Now rotate this once so it is no longer connected to the other wings.
7.) Remove the other wings.
8.) Rotate the remaining wing until it is back to the original angle.
This should now stay in the location you left it when loading the game environment.
@ElijtheGeat They will fall apart if you mirror them. You need to pull it off as it is and save as a component. If you need more than one load up another from your component list.

Just awesome. I've just realised how you did them symbols, genius.
@Rohan I made it myself. If you find the rotators that control them feel free to pull them out and reuse.
Really cool. The nuke and tanks release really nicely, no spinning off. Love the choice of ordinance too.

@JMicah4 I like setting off in the small boat and chasing myself with the mark v. Feels like I've been caught smuggling drugs or something, lol

Looks great and beautifully balanced. Really pleasant flying experience.
@Allstarship Thanks mate, ready nice of you and nice to finally have a rating against this old plane too.
@Layne Load into the world, click the menu button, then Locations, then select the location called Water Takeoff - South
Really cool, the cockpit view is brilliant, especially as the cockpit screen comes down.
@TheKeru Feel free to make your own version with it. The credit is appreciated, please don't break the successor link though.
I might join in in honour of my Dad's involvement in the war. I might make a scimitar ground to air missile launcher.
Looks great. Love the wing shapes.
Another fantastic replica. Great work Walrus Jr. Activator 1, lol!

This is awesome. I've just realised I forgot about your wing request, I feel really bad now! Sorry.

Awesome.
Last time I tried to make one of these I couldn't get it to fly straight. Looks awesome. Congrats on 5k.
@CorvetteCole Give us a shout then if it doesn't work out and I'll be up for giving it a go.

@GHOST Once I have brought out of range of boats, I will probably look at making other vehicles like helicopters or tanks. They should be fun.
lol @AndrewGarrison I can't explain why it did that but I will send out a replacement for you straight away and recall all the defects immediately.

@wapo20 No problem. It was and still is a great game.
I was meant to say 2 to 3 fuel tanks, not engines on my previous comment!

Really well done on this, it's a very complicated build and I can see how much time you spent on it.
@TheLatentImage I thought the antenna was a nice finishing touch, to give it a little bit of realism.
Looks and flies great. It was probably my fault for leaking that wing though btw.
Absolutely amazing. I will try it tomorrow on the mac, hopefully should run at least on low graphics.
@Scriefers @ElijtheGeat @Rohan I had to individually rotate and reposition each one.
@SpiritusRaptor If you set the VTOL just a little too far it goes into a spin, and once in a spin set the location to somewhere in the stratosphere I think this would make a great scene on one of your Interstellar themed vids.

Such an awesome plane
Looks great and it handles lovely.

@hypnotoad I'm quite close to you, I live in Burton.
@picy Make that 4
@picy It's everywhere lol. If you check my planes out there are 3 slightly different versions.
