Instead of using cockpit blocks, you could use a VR cockpit. I have already made a free to use one, just find it in the 'posts' section of my account.
You could also use my F-21E for reference on how to install the VR cockpit.
If you do use the VR cockpit, make sure to save it as a sub assembly and use the VR tag on any posts you make with the cockpit.
